My first landing in the Ashlands was like the D Day
I've had the same situation. My friend and I sailed there on an ordinary ship. It immediately collapsed, but by some miracle we managed to jump onto the rock. And then began an exciting 3-hour journey to the shore jumping over rocks))
@@AdventurestGaming The rocks surrounding the ashlands remind me alot of peter jackson's king kong when the ship gets attacked
We have a digital version of PTSD from our first landing in Ashlands. There was much rage-quitting that first week. Pretty much set all our skills back to zero from all the deaths lol, so I feel this comment in my little toon's digital soul.
For me it was actually first time I started to think about "rage-quitting" from the game. It was really like D day. On the first days of test the was much higher spawn rate for all the monsters. Still got some flashbacks )
What a fantastic idea. Thanks for the walkthrough on this. Now that we're not dying every 10 minutes, I might be able to pull this off for my server. Appreciate the video!
Thank you so much for the comment! Really glad that video was helpful for you!
@@AdventurestGaming You're soooo close to getting monetized, wishing you all the best! Go go go!
Thank you sooo much! It's pretty hard work I can say ))
I personally prefer not destroying the front entrance, we just take over the fortress by building a staircase outside..
Of course, this is also a completely working option. Thanks for the comment!
New building stuff looks so clean.
Yeap! I really like stone floor 4 by 4 meters!
Cool, I did the same (well the idea, not the digging down, which is a crazy good idea), but instead of destroying the first gates, I just build a staircase outside and took the fort keeping the walls & gates. Just in case, plus new portal changing the game pretty much.
Thanks for the showcase 🎉
Hope the area will be "buildable" after public test.
Building a staicase is an option. You will keep a fortress sealed. But it can be anoing to repair outer parts because they will be destroyed pretty easily. New portals - one love )))
Thanks for the comment!
@@AdventurestGaming How do you prevent them from destroying your door into the base?
Main door is the only place you need to keep your eye on. You can build stairs and don't crush the main gates. Or you can fortify the gates. In my practice I don't had any problems defending the base. But yeah you cannot feel 100% safe in Ashlands any way.
Awesome job dude!!!
Thanks man! Already working on another video!
I've been working on this.
This is an undertaking.
I haven't even breeched yet, I've been just clearing outside mobs and that took me all night.
I dug a hole along the wall of the fortress to put a workbench, bed and fire in it and went to bed.
I'm excited to build a ram and breach this weekend.
I'm very glad that our thoughts are aligned. I wish you good luck in building your new base!
Nice Bro! Today i will try to repeat this)))
Thanks man! This is nice idea )))
I didn't play the beta. I thought they would have prevented us from building inside these bases. Now that I know we can I will likely do something similar. Thanks for the video.
They almost forced us to build there. Lava Blobs are nasty little creatures. You gonna love them!
Great job!
Thank you so much! Keep on working. More content to go!
I have to admit that the Mistlands killed a bit of my motivation, but I'm amped up again in my new world. This video is great Ashlands exposure.
I think that meny of us feel the same. Thanks for the comment!
Very nice job!
Thank you so much! Working on new video!
🔥🔥🔥
Very cool idea!
Glad you liked it!

Nice, thx 4 idea

awesome, you are a genius!
Thank you! New video is coming out today ;)
You are good at creative builds, that is clear.
Thank you so much! Would you like to see my main base in current playthrough?
@@AdventurestGaming As an older gamer who used to build houses for a living I play most games to build what I can. I never focus on endgame bosses, but on materials and build styles, I really liked what you did with that castle.
I respect and completely share your approach. Thanks for your comment!
You should upload something.
@@y0nd3r Me, I will try and put something together, I dont really know what im doing when it comes to making videos or editing so it might be garbage, but I can try.
This is so cool bro
Thanks! New video will be soon!
Impressive. But I'm getting tired of raid events... I was thinking to turn it off and make esthetic builds, livestock, gardens, etc. without worrying it may destroyed soon... I know it may sounds boring but... Just to play it different
Everyone can play as they please. That's the beauty of this game. There is something for everyone. Thanks for the comment!
I dug a huge moat around my main base. It's basically a fortified island in the black forest now. So far, only the bat and Drake raids have been able to reach it, but they're pretty easy to manage
I was using such tactic at the beginning of my jorney in Valheim. Right now I prefer to make walls with raised ground.
LOL, I'm so doing this. I made a base out of the final mistlands boss tower and it rocked. Can also use a hoe and raise the ground to climb over wall without destroying anything.
Thanks for the comment! It can be as an option.
You dont have to destroy the front wall. All you need is to raise ground next to fortress and jump into it. Its actuly a good strategy.
Raise ground (bring a lot of stone) --- enogh so you can stand on easy and wall it araund to protect yourself from balistas. Then snipe the enemy summoner boss inside base. After you are done, run araund base and smash with hammer (outside) to kill spawned army of skeletons inside).
Sure! In this build I wanted to have workable gates. But there are different options.
So cool, like a mini Minas Morgul with that green ray up to the sky
Minas Morgul you just hit the nail on the head! Thank you very much for your comment!
as long as nothing see's you nothing will attack
Yeah! So one of the stategies is to block spawns of the monsters around you. That might work too.
How do your fireplaces in the corner not smoke out the floor? did you expose them through the roof?
Check out my video about Fire Hazard. There is a section about Smoke mechanics - czcams.com/video/FTloH7k-fgs/video.html
In two words I made hidden wall behind the stairs. There is plenty of space for smoke to go.
how do you snap your floor to the fortress? I can't seem mine to snap without them breaking
Try the same place as it was in the video. Also recheck twise if there any gap between the wall and the floor piece. I've had some problems with gaps but I was able to solve them with Flametal beams.
That's impressive! 👍
Thank you sooo much!
Can you please explain how you removed the central building in the basement?
First I removed one corner, then I made a transition from the floor to the wall, then I removed some of the soil and put supports in the places where the floor meets. You can stop the video in the places you are interested in and watch carefully how everything is arranged there.
I`m trying this, but any structure i would like to place on that grausten floor instantly gets destroyed. only on the ground can structures be placed. any idea why ?
You need to force the floor. Lay the basement floor on raised ground. Be sure that second floor touches the walls and force some places where you want to build heavy peaces with Iron or Flametal beams.
I just did this last night. It’s not permanent because I destroyed the center tower, but I still wanted a safe fortress in Ashlands (I’m not as good at the game as some, so it’s the first one I was able to tackle successfully). I had to use grausten pillars at the bedrock level for the basement to get everything to stay structural, I’ll probably swap to flametal when I get extra. My main floor seems fine for all my crafting stations, hearths, etc. The top deck (exposed level) is turning into a castle all on its own. I may end up with a 4-level by the time I’m done. But I had no issues with things breaking, and even the grausten floor tiles stuck directly to the outter walls at the stairs. It’s a thing of beauty.
tried this but cant get dig as deep as u did, am I doin sth wrong? I can dig about 1m below turret ground level max
The depth may depend on the bottom layer of the map itself. Try to capture another fortress. Probably there will be more depth there.
We were able to zerg a base by jumping from a nearby rock formation! Lucky! Now our base is 100% sealed!
This is actually very good option! If you feel comfort to jump in and out.
getting there sucks , lol you'll need to clear spawners and collect the new materials to build anything to break into the fortress. then you need to find molten cores so you can portal over to make a stone cutter because there is no iron to be found. it takes forever but doable nice video.
You can find Iron ingots in the pots around the map to build stone cutter. You can also raise up the ground or build some near the walls to get inside. Thank you very much for the comment!
You can do it alone in less than a week without rushing
@@Soniquete_ yee on last boss but taking a break now that ive made the fort :P dont want to rush through anymore
you only need two molten cores, which you can get from one putrid hole, then portal them back and take all the stuff you need from your other base
@@inigogreenall5028 yee already got the base up cheers :). taking a break though since all i have left to do is kill the boss now
How did you make the Ashland’s sky normal
Probably it was clear weather
Why keep the tower and its door? To make sure you have the green light?
So as not to spoil the internal walls of the tower, since it is also part of the interior. Well, the green light, of course.
😍
:)
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
New video will be soon!
You could also just leave the maingate and just jump over the wall
Sure! It's another good idea!
for some reason when i dig the many of the tower walls broke and some of them not and i cant build the stairs because of this
dig the ground
the tower walls are blocking the stairs
Watch the video again carefully. The ladder is not directly attached to the walls. There's a gap there.
What happen if i destroy the inner tower gate to get to the loot inside ?
You'll have to think of a new design for the central tower.
I destroyed as much as I could, the rest is floating in the air now :/
:)
Yes, slugs change everything.
100%
how do you evacuate smoke from fire fodd and stuff ?
I use a false wall that goes behind the stairs and goes all the way to the blacksmith's benches. The mechanics of the smoke are such that you don't have to blow it upward. It is enough just to give him space so that he can disperse. Approximately 12-14 meters are required.
@@AdventurestGaming can you make a video about it ?
Sure! I will think about it.
@@AdventurestGaming it can also be vented horizontally, from a 45 degree slope to even, i did this for an old tower base i made so i could have my cauldron in the center without smoking up the higher floors. Enclosed it too so it looks nice.
Nice one!
I’m thinking the ashlands are gonna need a nerf. Badly, and soon. It took a buddy of mine in debug mode around 20 minutes to beat the boss. We were doing some testing and stuff, just to see what all we would be in for on release. Man, I don’t know how any of us are gonna beat it currently. It’s a nightmare
I have already completed almost all the content, with the exception of the battle with the last boss and the quest to find the fire sword. It was of course very difficult. Especially at the beginning, but then you start to get used to the situation. I want to say that when traveling through a new location it is much easier to avoid unnecessary clashes with monsters because there may be too many of them. You just run past in search of points of interest and there you are already fighting for your life.
Seems like there were a few steps skipped at each phase
Only the most important ones. To keep the video short and informative.
@@AdventurestGaming Totally fair to make a video like that, I just wouldn't call it "Step-by-Step Instructions." It's more like a high level overview. In the end it's fine, figuring details out on your own can be fun, the title is just misleading.
I tried to explain as clearly as possible. If you have any questions, I will be glad to answer them!
Trashlabs repeating the failure that was Mistlands with Mistlands II: Dumpster Mechanics Boogaloo? lol. We waited all these years for this? Looks like an update I will devcommand my way through and save myself the time and disappointment.
You definitely should try it without any cheats. It was a lot of fun. Especially when me and my friend first sailed to the Ashlands on Longship. Boat drowned in hot waters and we stuck on rock cliffs trying to get to the land. Man it was incredible 2 hour jurney ))))) Thanks for the comment!
@corporateturtle6005 I'm curious: What did you love so much about the initial game that you still follow it despite disliking the Mistlands (I assume because of the fog? Everything else was very "vanilla" for Valheim) and being so convinced you will dislike the Ashlands (I'm not sure why.. it doesn't have mist, although it has other ways to challenge the player and the use of ranged weapons)?
Do you not expect to find what you liked, or is it just that the annoyance will outweigh it? Why bother to play if you devcommand your way through? (I admit I did as well, but just because I was lacking pre-ashlands resources and couldn't be bothered to go back and grind).
@@arthanor9631 Did you not actually play Mistlands to think "mist go brrrrrrr"? Had little to do with mist although it was a stupid and poorly implemented mechanic if we're being honest: The wisp had issues keeping up with a nonrunning player, couldn't at all for one running. The mist lamps didn't clear much and were a waste of resources to craft and place. The uneven terrain made melee combat problematic at best, useless at worse. If there was the slightest difference up or down you were guaranteed to miss 100% of the time as well as waste precious stamina. Speaking of stamina, most mobs could fly with no limitations making an already bad biome mechanic even worse. However that's not a Mistlands problem, combat itself is poorly designed and has been since release with no effort on the part of the developers to remedy this despite the massive disappointment and constant complaints from the community. But no "mist go bbbbbbbbbbrrrrrrrr" was not my main complaint.
@corporateturtle6005 I see the mist as an indirect nerf to the bow. Same with the lava making most fights happen in smaller areas. Since it's the most common complained, I assumed it was yours too.
I agree the steepness of the terrain and wisplight behavior were annoying. Neither of those are issues in Ashlands though, as the terrain is pretty smooth and there's no wisp mechanic. There also isn't any annoying "wait to harvest" mechanic like for sap and the underground parts are more like troll caves than mines, which is welcome. Combat is still valheim combat though, but as you say, it's always been like that.
I think Valheim's problem is that for most of the community, the thrill of discovery is gone. The new stuff isn't quite feeling new enough (it's still pretty much the same recipe of difficult to get ores, special items in dangerous places, wood and food are non issues, unlike Mistlands which at least didn't have a metal), so it just seems like something to get over with, hence your devcommand comment I guess.
I know the first couple of days there was a bug w aggro from every tree burning that was fixed. This is the test branch of ashlands. Maybe wait for public release before you get so angry lol.
