Minor question. Doesn't that door require a forge because of the iron hinges?
Oh yeah you are right! So you would probably want to go with the original doors and build that smaller black marble brick to fill in the gap. Or build a forge.
I will pin this comment! Nice catch!
Hey man just wanted to say thanks for the awesome content and info for all the Ashlands love all the vids and hope your yt channel keeps growing
Thank you for the support! I am glad you enjoy them!
Haha! Its so wholesome seeing your channels insane growth, not long till 2k 🤜🤛
Great video. I appreciate the testing you did to find out some of the optimal build spots.
I rushed into the ashlands with my best gear, landed on a beach with 2 spawners, and then died. Been an uphill battle ever since, beach landing has to be the worst part!
Yeah it's helpful if you can land on some sort of peninsula. Lower the amount of directions enemies can come from.
Thanks for watching!
this is a perfect starter outpost idea. love it!
Outpost by IKEA.
Build yours today!
Great job, Keep the content coming.
Great video. And great channel. One of the best I've seen in a while. Thanks for the Ashlands info.
For portals, I have one main portal that connects to all of my others portal that I increment by number. I picked this up from someone, I forget who. It can cause issues as your getting used to it, but it makes your base so much cleaner! Great video!
You’re really cool man. Keep up the awesome videos! I already subscribed
Thanks for the support!
A tactical video finally i see👀
I'll have a spare boat ready.
Thx for this video
great videos! Quick question. How do you get the clear skies like that in the Ashlands? it always seems to be red and kinda dark for me, is that just my bad luck?
I cheat. I sometimes use devcommands to clear the environment of effects when I record videos. It's usually to get rid of the rainy weather or show a better shot of how things look.
Ashlands will not look that nice when you get there lol.
@@Maxxramus24 it certainly doesn't. But thanks for the tip, been using the dev commands since the activation code was "I am a cheater" but the weather never bothered me,never even considered I could turn it off!
I use old dverg building - only rise the ground to cover holes in walls. Lava blob can destroy that but its only temporary base, for portal, dont stay there too long.
Instead of bringing huge amounts of marble, i think maybe i will just dig a big ditch and raise some ground (the ditch will help avoid the blobs jumping over).
Build a small base in it.
The light level in your video is way up for the normal for the biome. Did you do that with dev commands or mods?
Love your content man !!!! Haven't got to catch a stream yet but hopefully soon !!!!
Yeah my real life job has been keeping me busy. And I didn't want to stream just to stream. Wanted to make sure I have something fun to watch. Maybe I can stream Ashlands this weekend and do some "first beach landings" or something. I'm hoping for some new patch notes tomorrow. :)
@Maxxramus24 look forward to it man
Thanks for the tip! But perhaps you could protect the base better if you made a wide moat around it.
Possibly! I didn't include anything like that as the idea was to try and get something up quickly. That might take a bit of time when you first land there. But definitely worth trying out!
One additional thing I would suggest is to quickly set up not one, but *two portals.* If sh!t happens and your one-and-only portal gets broken, it's way easier to have done that than building another ship and sailing back. Obviously, you don't want to put it too close to (nor too far from) your other portal. Backing it up against a rock or wall might make it less vulnerable. Obviously you'll have to name one of them when you get a chance.
Totally agree! Just slap it up against a rock or something and then run away to start a base. That way enemies don't swarm around the first one maybe. The last thing you want to do is have to regather duplicates of all your gear and resail back lol.
How do you think a moat would fair? I was planning on building one all around the base for extra protection.
Tricky, but effective if you could get it to work. We tested the red ocean water in that video I posted on Sunday and you have 5 seconds in that water before you start to burn up.
I suppose the real question is, do the Ashland monsters take damage while they are in it? The voltures are immune to it.
would it be an option to raise the ground instead of marble walls? those can't be destroyed, you can still make a marble roof in
Unfortunately, I tested the ground and the lava blobs do blow up ground too. I had to cover all the pot holes in my testing area after I tested those walls lol. You could try it though!
I would take a stack of iron and of blackmetal in the free slots, in dorder to build chests or ballistas or whatever craft needing metal
I tested the balistas and I wasn't impressed with them. They might do well against the Ashsvik and Lava Blobs? But they were weak against skeletons due to the pierce. We even tested the new flamissles and the couldn't hold back a melee skeleton. =(
I will bring an entire pack of loyal 2 star wolves.
But before we go, we will all drink Barley Wine.
"CONSTRUCT"! :D
Lox cape is resistant to fire? It says frost though 🤔
I meant to the Lox cape is not "weak to fire" like the feather cape. I say stuff incorrectly like that sometimes. Thanks for catching it!
@@Maxxramus24 Hehe all good :) I thought it was some well known fact that I missed 😁
Wouldnt it be easier to just use the hoe and raise ground to make walls that cannot be destroyed?
U can do that in every biome and just kill the fun of the game
Unfortunately, I tested the ground and the lava blobs do blow up ground too. I had to cover all the pot holes in my testing area after I tested those walls lol. You could try it though!
@@Maxxramus24 By making big enough walls you are never in a situation where a lava blob would explode.
@@hadiajam If your idea of fun is repairing portals and walls every 5 minutes, go for it.
@@Huutis_alkaa_nyt lmao u need to learn how to build a good defense buddy
doesnt raising the ground work for walls? indestructible for everything else...would be my choice for walls anyway...roof would be marble needed though.
Unfortunately, I tested the ground and the lava blobs do blow up ground too. I had to cover all the pot holes in my testing area after I tested those walls lol. You could try it though!
How is your Ashlands so bright ?
I used dev commands in this video and used clear environment. I used it a few times when show casing a few things, so that I didn't have to mess with storms and stuff.
mate You make it wrong. Do a industractible walls. So You need stone. LOTS OF STONES... for raising ground. You need only workbench and a hoe
Actually it’s not indestructible anymore. Those explosive blobs can blow a hole through them now 😢
Blobs fuck up those walls
Not cheesing the game isnt wrong buddy
Unfortunately, I tested the ground and the lava blobs do blow up ground too. I had to cover all the pot holes in my testing area after I tested those walls lol. You could try it though!
dont know why i am watching, i killed the boss 2x solo, found 4 forts in the first place i went and the boss arena was really close, i didnt even knew that you have to use the bombs to reach the flametal, first return home i went fully loaded with ore because the pillers were not in the lava, ii tamed 7 asksvins 3 were 2 stars, ngl that ruined the game a bit, crazy that in 20 hours found and killed the boss using a mostly the bow and asksvins army., the only hard bit is the amount of enemy in ashlands
