So I made a Tres Leches from the other video and my cake had Curves and hips lol. I followed this version and it was flawless. My father in-law's family owns a bakery in Mexico and he tried my Tres Leches. He couldn't believe I made this. So this weekend is my baby shower and I'm making three cakes. I can't wait to blow everyone's mind with this cake. Thank you so much!!!!

I tried your first recipe of tres leches and I didn’t have a electric egg beater, so I used the manual hand one I had at home. And let me tell you I was more tired than going for a one hour gym session 😂.
It took me about 15-20mins of extremely intense beating for the eggs yolks, and about 30-40mins with the egg whites to get them fluffy haha. I never thought I’d break a sweat baking a cake. But it came out good for a first timer.
I recently made it again yesterday, now with an electric beater, and this time I added a double portion of the syrup to make it more “moist” and it was bomb! Both times the cake has shrunk on me but yesterday by adding a double portion of syrup the cake expanded and the gaps disappeared. Thanks for the videos!

You might have gotten egg yolk in your whites (or had some grease or fat in the bowl or on the beaters) if it took that long. Fat will make it difficult to whip egg whites. The whipping motion you use will also make a difference. A fast back-and-forth will work faster than a circle or up and over motion.

You make cooking the heart that goes into the home. It is true that sometimes our lives are so busy that we are lucky if we can throw together a 30 minute meal. But when we can put thought into our cooking that is the love ingredient that makes the meal feel like we're home, we're safe, and we're loved. Everyone has gather together around the table, the house is quiet and you look up and see contentment on their faces as they savor each bite. That's when you know life is good. Then my son belches and we all start laughing. That's when we know life is joyful. Thank you for teaching us that we aren't just throwing together a meal but we are sharing our love for our families and friends right there in the kitchen. This is the way it should always be, after all, it is love that nourishes our hearts and our souls. By the way, the cake looks divine. I know Cloud is going to enjoy it! Thank you!

I’ve made several Tres Leches cakes - and stuck to your previous recipe after several other ones was just not as good and easy as yours. Just found your new version - and it follows easy - was a breeze! Your previous version was such a staple at all our family and church functions, that friends and family is visibly disappointed when I show up, without a Tres Leches cake!
So - You’re making me look awesome, if I show up with your Tres Leches cake… and its my daughter in laws birthday tomorrow - I’m not gonna disappoint them again!
It’s in the oven at the moment. Just gonna be making the lovely sauce now.

Feb 11 2023: Fabulous recipe! A cake worthy of ANY special occasion-elegant, but still delicate; rich but still fluffy light-amazing. Steph, you are so right about difference homemade whipped cream makes-an artist doesn't leave off the final touches to their portrait! This cake is a masterpiece🍰. I made this today for our Super Bowl party, day ahead so it can chill-but WOW so glad I didn't wait, had to sample right after last berry went on. With a knife I made the lines of the slices, which made it easier to place berries, then I made the full cuts. Used strawberries & blueberries. Here are lessons I learned from making this 1st time: 1. put 6-8 eggs out night before or early in morning to get to room temp. I broke yolk on 1st one & had to get another out & place on heating stove to warm up fast-have extras on hand in case of accidents. 2. DO use Large or extra lg eggs. Carefully get all the whites out of shells-check for broken shells. 3. have MANY bowls- 2 deep mixing types for the yolks & whites, 1 really big deep one to put all the batter in, a DEEP med one for the whipped creme (I ended up splattering it across counter canisters & coffee pot). 4. Have 5-7 spatulas, 1separate big one to cut n fold in the fluffy egg whites, this way you don't have to keep stopping to wash them. 2-3 whisks too, 1 big one for batter. 1 long knife ready to loosen cake & make long cuts as cake will be thick w all that icing. Be ready with a pot/bowl of soapy water & towel to wash your beaters 3 times. 5. Do egg whites first so if there's any residue left, won't hurt the yolks. Later also dry well before making whipped creme. 6. I used parchment, no sticking was nice. 7. Prep berries before you begin; I had to stop & do it when I was tired & hungry for that first piece. 8. Do use a wire rack or cups upside down so as to allow air flow while cooling, does cool so much faster. 9. I used extension cord for my hand mixer so I could move around easier (as I cluttered up spaces I moved from table to counter etc) 10. Have damp wash rag, paper towels, plate for coated gooey spoons n spatulas to rest on-I had made a mess. 11. Measure sugar out ahead of time, separate cups. Recheck them, I used a 3/4 cup by mistake. Also use fresh baking powder-@$1.50, you'll really cry if you do all this work & then cake be ruined due to old bpowder. Try to get real vanilla-makes Huge diff. Aldis has one cheap. One lady said chill bowl for the whipped creme. My time for getting whites to peak was @ 5-6 min, perfect! Even though I messed up, stumbled here n there this first time, Stephanie is right-be patient, don't hurry, be gentle w folding & it'll be awesome, mine was-yea! I did it! You can too! It's a beautiful cake ill now make ahead for birthdays, holidays & to show off my summer berries. Thanks Steph!

Thank you so much for this very detailed and informative video! I must have watched it about 4 times before I worked up the nerve to actually make it lol. I was so scared I was going to ruin it! I watched a few other videos to get a feel for it, but they all felt so rushed and I could tell how much love and work you put into this recipe for us. So I made it last night for my mom for Mother’s Day, and it turned out absolutely perfect!! Everyone loved it and couldn’t believe I’d never made it before. Definitely making it again very soon! I owe it to you! 🥰

I baked your cake this morning after failing with the first one from another recipe. This one turned out amazing!! I am saving it into my recipes playing and will always make this. A little bit more steps involved but definitely worth it. I did add less sugar to the sponge cake, it still turned out delicious. Thanks

Plastic utensils to not stick to the cake. You can poke holes with a plastic fork and it will not lift up any cake crumbs :) same with cutting brownies, if you cut with a plastic knife they will remain intact! 😍😍😍😍

Perfect timing! My husbands birthday is in a few days and this is the cake he asked for. I had no clue how to make it until I found you about a month or so ago, so I’m glad you made remade the video. If I could make a suggestion tho, to put all the ingredients on the same list going forward? I just think it’s easier to get everything together if it’s in one place in the video vs spread out that’s all. Regardless I’ll be following along very soon so thank you!

I love Tres leches I did the other recipe you have on your channel with the swan down flour and it was a little more on the firm side but it was still super delicious everyone loved it, I use to work in a professional kitchen but I was a line cook and I would always go hang out with the pastry chef and help her out sometimes (with what I could cause I’m not advance in pastry at all) so I was a little upset that it didn’t come out spongy like the one she would make for the restaurant but now I see that it must have been the cake flour I used and I’m so happy you made a new version of it , my sons 3 bday is coming up and I’m planning on making mini Tres leches for his party with this new recipe, so thank so much for providing us with a softer cake I’m so excited to try it out!

Just wanted to say, I watched both your first and second Tres Leche cake vids and followed a combo of both .I think in this one it said 1/2 baking powder in stead of 1 1/2. That's why it combined both. Your presentation is straight forward and welcoming. I like how you warned people who have never baked much to keep going. When new at baking I would have liked that knowledge. Anyhow, this is for my daughter that just turned 30! It's her favorite and now this recipe is her favorite. Thank you so much for sharing your your knowledge.

I waited for a day where I felt good and was looking forward to baking this cake, and that probably made a difference too. Thank you also for giving a range of baking time. Mine, just as another person who commented here, also got done in 20 mins. (180 degree C).

I made this cake for my family today and they loved it. I messed up on the egg whites the first time and didn't have more eggs at room temperature so I put a bowl of separated eggs white over some boiled hot water so it could warm the egg whites. It worked perfect this way and they were way more fluffier. Because my family likes more milky flavor, I used less condensed milk and more whole milk. For the first try it was really good! Can't wait to do it again even better!

I have made both versions of your tres leches cake now! The first time I still used AP flour because here in Northern Ireland you can't really get cake flour in the local supermarkets. I didn't find too much of a difference in the recipes, this one from this video is slightly softer but nothing too noticeable for me!
