In Nicaragua, tres leches de coco is also common: coconut milk is substituted for the whole milk and fresh coconut is added to the cream topping.

@@LupitaHolder Simply replace the whole milk with coconut milk in the tres leches mixture. Fold flaked or freshly grated coconut, to taste, into the whipped cream topping; if using fresh coconut, the cake must be consumed within a day or so.

Warm the whole milk on the stove and then steep a cinnamon stick and a small piece of orange peel for about 5-10 minutes then take them out and use like the recipe calls for. It takes it to a much better level.

aya I’m sure you could but like he said you might want to leave the milks plain, as they are the star of the show. But in the end you can do whatever you want and I’m sure it wouldn’t negatively affect the end product. I would just let it cool before pouring over the cake.
aya yes! Sorry I didn’t clarify that. It’s pretty common to make it that way if you want to try a slightly better version of an already amazing Mexican cake 🤤 hope you try it sometime!

Used cake flour instead of all purpose
Added the tres leches as directed
Used only whipped cream and confectioners sugar.

Tested this recipe and it’s ahhhmazing ! My family and I really loved it ! I’d just use less sugar like maybe 380g instead of 480g because it was a bit too sweet

Tres leches is supposed to be very sweet. Cuatro leches has friggin’ dulce de leche on it.
Did you use cake flour or all purpose flour? I just made it and it came out dense. His recipe calls for cake flour, but he uses all purpose flour in the video so I'm a bit confused.
@@sheereemontelongo7611 I used all purpose flour and it wasn’t dense. Maybe you forgot the baking powder? Or the oven’s temperature was too hot?

I think this is by far the best tasting vanilla cake I've ever baked. My husband is lactose so he really cannot eat the cake when the 3 Milks are added to it but he doesn't fee left out because I gave him all the pieces that were cut from the cake. He said this is a really great tasting vanilla cake! I just finished putting together the Tres Leches cake and it's in the fridge right now. Can't wait to try it tomorrow with the family! Tres Leches Recipe: Preheat oven to 350 degrees- 3 2/3 cups flour | 2 1/4 sugar| 2 tsp baking powder| 2 tsp salt| (Whisk) Separate bowl add in the following 1/3 cup sour cream(or yogurt, or buttermilk)| 1/2 cups whole milk|1 tbl spoon vanilla| 8 egg WHITES| Then add in 17 table spoons of butter (to the bowl of dry ingredients you first prepared) Mix well- then add in the liquid bowl into the dry bowl as you mix it. Prepare the parchment paper in the baking pan. Add in the cake mix and bake for 350 degrees for 40 minutes! In a separate bowl prepare 3/4 cups of whole milk| 12 fl oz can evaporated milk| 14 oz sweetened condensed milk| Stir Well then leave out the liquid mix while the cake finishes baking| Take the cake out the oven! 🍰 (Optional) Thinly cut the sides of the cake, then cut another thin layer of the top of the cake. The cake should almost look all white. Poke holes in the cake with a fork, and pour the wet ingredients bowl over the cake slowly. Slowly, so that the liquid can leak into the cake. Now prepare the whipped cream!!3 cups heavy cream| 1/2 of confectioners sugar| Splash of vanilla| (Optional) mascarpone cheese 8.8 Oz| Put the whipped cream on top of the cake and add strawberries🍓
