Uruguayan ASADO GRILL 🥩 | Eating BBQ at the MEAT MARKET (Mercado del Puerto) in Montevideo, Uruguay

  • Craving uruguayan asado grill? In today’s video, we’re taking you on a food adventure to Mercado del Puerto for Uruguayan asado. This is Montevideo’s Meat Market which features numerous restaurants under one roof, all of them specializing in BBQ, also known as asado!
This meat market is located by the port in front of Montevideo Bay, and it has been home to steakhouses and seafood restaurants since 1960. There are countless restaurants to choose from, and part of the experience is that you can watch your food be grilled right in front of you.
We ended up at Don Garcia and had an excellent meal. For lunch, we ordered chorizo (pork sausage), morcilla (blood sausage), vacio (flank steak), bife ancho (ribeye steak or prime rib), fries, and a salad to try and keep things healthy. Of course, we had to pair the meal with the house wine.
We hope you enjoy this Uruguayan food video, and if you're ever visiting Montevideo, be sure to stop by the Meat Market for a great BBQ meal!

Hello there hope you're all well and coping
It"s a good thing you've got these videos to look back on to make lockdown more bearable
How did capital city beef compare to the one in Colonia or Argentina all together?
I've been lucky enough to try both Colonia and Buenos Aires steak houses and it was a feast for the ages- great quality really
Also the tea reference never gets old as a joke
I'm an active follower of this channel so I was instantly thrown back when Mister Daniel made the tea reference as I've looked up the advert after he first introduced us all to it several videos ago during an afternoon tea
All the best to you and your families!

Good video. A couple of things that stood out for me: It didn't seem you guys touched the chimichurri or the other "salsas" on offer. As Uruguayans we pretty much eat most of our grilled meats with chimichurri. Particularly the cuts you chose as well as Asado, Morcilla and Chorizo. Also, we never have fries with our grilled meats, it's either a garden salad or ensalada rusa. The Uruguayan ensalada rusa is different to the others I've seen in latinamerica.

Wish I would have seen your video before then as it pays to find places that might be a bit out of the way and that the locals go to. Not sure what I'd have done with my wife as she's a vegetarian. The roof of Mercado del Puerto was brought from England and there is a clock as well at that time was such an innovation maybe unique roof in South America where your wife was pampering de dog is Iglesia Matriz underneath the fountain there are secrets tunnels and use to be a container water reservoir, in front in the cabildo basement use to be a small jail for the slaves. There are a group guided tour at night that shows the tunnels, the house where Artigas was born is close to Mercado del puerto but there is only a sign, also there is a place called “El Polvorín" where was kept the gunpowder.

. i got the joke about red rose tea, eh! canada does not have the lush year round grass pastures that uraguay has, too many winter months with hay, haylage, silage, barley, oats, wheat, corn feed.imho corn and dry feed does not make the world's best beef. good beef from good quality animals but not the world"s best beef.
