Stood right up in my seat when I saw that’
Gonna be entirely real here I think they should've saved it, it feels so surreal to me that they held back all this time to then suddenly do it like this rather than as a final boss when she was built up as the main antagonist feels... Strange.
new chair sitting mechanics is cute, Klei should create more of these mechanics
As a sound designer, I deeply appreciate Klei adding unique sounds for item pickups.
It’s details like these that, when added, give the game a level of warmth that makes me love the producers so much more
I think this update looks much more dont starve-y than a lot more of the more recent updates which is kinda refreshing
Now that they've added a feature to sit, i really would love for them to add some furniture to decorate bases some more

the hooded creatures look like the ancient herald from hamlet. Even the item they drop of dark tatters are called the same despite looking different.
I mean both Shipwrecked and Hamlet are cannon to the dst universe. They're just in a different location of the Constant.
OMG, and official Scythe and it harvests sooo much at once, that's pretty great.
If they can add a plow as well, so you can kind of automate planting in farms as well, that'd be great. Maybe involve the beefalo in it as well, so people have an actual reason to tame them.
Honestly, the scrappbook has to be one of my fav additions
Games like this that require a lot of external research like visiting wikis unless you want to be stuck redoing the same things for a lot of hours, a feature like this that records basic info, stats, enemy encounters and the like is so helpful.
The sythe harvesting basic resources has been something I have wanted for so long, but it's kind of a shame that without screwing with world settings, it's super late game.
They are kinda growing this game like terraria
Oh wow, an ingame Glossary/Wiki for a Wiki-Heavy game, that's fantastic.
I'm not one to side with the shadows, but the Reaper's scythe feature is already better than everything that came on the lunar update
Idk the lunar pickaxe is nice since it’s a hammer too and that’s what I always forget to bring with me and the glass axes cut fast and are cheap anyways
I saw what the reapers sickle did to that grass, and immediately creamed my pants
The new shadow mobs have that funny goofy interesting don't starve creature look I love it
With the scythe, you can make the lazy forager actually worth using.
Shadow allegiance sounds like the perk that Wilson got in the character refresh. Might be worth checking it out.
I think you'll get to make a choice in the final battle, either shadow or moon

So far I'd say this update is shaping out to look much better than Taking Root. All of this is really cool and the enemy design is amazing. The only thing I have issues with is the earthquakes dropping boulders now. I'm one of those cleaner-upper "don't leave a mess" type players and having to clean those up every time an earthquake happens is going to be extremely annoying.

Whoa the shadows sitting in the chairs blew my mind but they have to revert the cave in changes
you choose to activate the changes yourself by meddling with the shadow portal. why?
It is a choice, but kinda sucks that if you have to choose between having a cave base and enjoying the late game content. Like, imagine having a whole update made for a game, and not getting to play it cause it makes your base unlivable cause the boulders will smash your stuff cause you had the GALL to make a slightly decorated big base that takes more than a few seconds to get out of.
Speaking of changes I kinda wish they tweaked the brightshade stuff. I hate them appearing at my base’s plants every single in game day
Acid rain is pretty negligible and maybe even a good thing for any Winona players, but the boulder cave in thing needs to either be reverted or made so that it won’t destroy structures.
thankfully there are pillars now to prevent cave ins entirely so long as you keep it repaired with rocks
It could use some balancing which we'll get, the acid rain should be toned down/optional toggle option, boulders falling should just not be a thing or a rarity.
Though if they keep the boulders falling, have a chance it's a rock lobster instead. I won't explain further.
The only time you should be in the caves to begin with is Summer, and you don't really get rain down there during that time. Thus, no acid rain. For the boulders - meh. Maybe they suck for cave builders, but you shouldn't be building in the caves to begin with. And anyway, if you do - dodge away from base. Easy.
All in all, great update by the looks of it!

@@VG-fk6nk but I build in the caves.... It's fun and different, unless it's spring, then I refuse to go down there. Best advice, there is no right or wrong way of playing. As long as we're all having fun :)
@@TerryMeme You build in caves, but you shouldn't. And with the falling rocks beta, you'll have a harder time. Which is fine by me, by the way, have fun smashing your head against that wall.
As for "no right or wrong, only fun" - nobody builds a base in the meteor field, because it's wrong. Thus not fun. Same reason why nobody fights Dragonfly with an umbrella only - it's wrong, and it's not fun.
For the one or two people who miraculously do decide to do it - again. I don't care. Have fun smashing your head against the wall. You're wrong, and you're free to be wrong. As long as you know you are.
I love the art on the title screen so much, eldritch horrors beyond our human comprehension and walter is just :D

I love the pick up change you don't know how stressful feels to hear all the time the same cling noise when picking wood or farming stuffs

Can we just appreciate how quickly they now pump out content?? I swear I haven’t had the time to see the new lunar things and they already released a significant update a month or so later
I’ve said this already but I think the scrapbook should also give info such as how to start the fight with antlion. Stuff like that. Also giving descriptions on aligned enemies and how they work as well as how planar damage and defense works
Tbch the biggest thing for me is FINALLY being able to sit down! Maybe someday we’ll have bed options too to lay down on ^^
But I just wish the pigmen could sit too! And to ally’s to put food or items on the tables for them or others to eat (besides that one festive thing that has zero effect on hunger)
It's nice that they're adding features that make it so you don't have to use the wiki
The devs are definitely paying attention to the community which I absolutely love, how many "inspect" type mods are out there? 😆
Also, Demon, regarding the "shadow alignment" bit Wilson's perk tree has a "shadow alignment" and "lunar alignment" set of perks built in
Over all preety solid start, we finally got proper scythe ^^
But those changes in caves! Those are devastating! I mean builders randomly falling from above? This can totally screw your base and you can't do anything about! Uncool.
And those toxic rains are way too punishing! It would be much better if those rains would be toxic only near fissures, it would be great indicator for finding them and overall it would be better ; D
The boulders only spawn within about a tile of the player, though not sure if the timer before they drop is long enough, haven’t been able to play the beta yet myself

The umbralla can be repaired by a sewing kit if it's not at a 100% and also repairs when used in the acid rain.

I wish the umbrella had something else, because is annoying to travel with an umbrella instead of the eyebrella, I wish u can put it in the floor and have a protection AoE

you can walk through the shadow rift stuff with desert goggles
can you do it with wagstaff goggles too?

in 3 years I hope they make an update to the boss fights, specifically the ones that are not really useful like the Crab King and Toadstool. You know how people prefer not to kill Bearger because he's way more useful alive? I want more options like that, to have a boss spawn not necessarily to kill it, but to use it in farms, or to duke it out with other mobs/bosses (like Deerclops vs Tree Guards)

i like the new picking sounds i think. i find comfort that i can always go back to unupdated singleplayer if i feel nostalgic but this is innovation. youll feel what youre picking more
I was expecting this for a long time, we needed a new rift, now we need to be able to go thro the portal when you kill FW and get to the pure horor dimension

Mkay, I actually love the scrapbook thing... saves a lot of trips to the wiki for specifics.
The scrapbook is so good since now you don't have to check the wiki. I hope it adds more information when you've inspected it with enough characters or something to incentivise using different characters. Also so glad there was a faster way of collecting grass and twigs, I'd always use mods to cut my time.
imagine a server where people are in two teams the moon/light team and the shadow team and there would be wars from time to time would be really cool
well if they are giving us sitting on chairs, then I also want to be able to put stuff on the table and in pots as well

Ink blights kinda remind me of an ancient herald. Similar design and dark tatters as a drop. So these creatures were not created by Charlie. They are probably showing that something big is coming or they are just the same shadow creatures but they are fully formed or something
I liked the shadow squid bfellow, and in my first encounter with them he ate the toadstool mushroom and they all died to his explosive mushrooms

I love the new picking sounds, i personally find the high pitch picking sound stinging to my ears, and i have a mod that changes it to the minecraft pickup sound instead, so i find this welcome. I think an option to toggle the unique sounds and the high pitch sound would be great for players that don't like it as much.
The scythe is by far my favourite thing from an update in a while.
I haven't played the beta yet, so I haven't tested this, but the "shadow aligned" tag for seeing the Ink Blights names might be for Wilson players who took Shadow Courtier (maybe Maxwell too but probably not).
So far I’m loving all this new content. It’s all very cool, I just wish it was more available. It’s also clearly not strung together properly. I’m expecting some new biomes at minimum. The item sound effects are great, it makes it much clearer about what you are picking it

it probably can but i think its main use is utility; it has the highest winter insulation value and it also gives 100% wetness protection

The scythe's ability for resource collecting probably wont seem very valuable to those who make it that far in the game but it is an amazing mechanic that I will surely abuse for reeds n such.

My only problem with dont starve is the item durabilty, in multiplayer is a pain. Thankfully it can be solved with mods. 200 uses is pretty good for the new weapon tho
