I wear clothes and footwear that makes me look and feel amazing. I don't follow style "rules" and trends. I enjoy fashion, and I watch these videos for ideas. I will decide whether or not to incorporate them into my wardrobe.
Wow these rules are so important! I know a lot of us don’t like “rules,” and get offended by people telling us how to dress, but the side by side comparisons here speak for themselves. Thank you for this amazing video that will save me from frumpiness! It’s a decision: to be frumpy or not, over 40! And we DO need rules!!! Because it’s about objective proportion, heaviness vs lightness, color, skin color (I’m as white as you Jamie!!), dated vs modern…. Those are not subjective. I’d like someone to see me as ME when I walk into a room, not be distracted by an odd proportion or dated combination of items that would detract from them looking into my eyes and getting stuff done and living life! I like the phrase that elegance is putting others at ease. Do I choose that today? Yes!!❤
I think that the light colour of your slim heeled knee high boots is what makes them work so well. The black shoes often seemed too "heavy" even with a slim heel.
Thank you. I approach the topic from the other direction, because I have to wear flat shoes/ boots so it’s a case of finding dresses and skirts which work with them. Often, that means pointed or almond toes. Btw the blue sweater looks great on you 🙂
You have great content that is not only inspiring but also helpful but you always start out with saying be kind to your neighbor, am I wrong to think any lady that is watching you already has those qualities, in fact most people are so kind, I mean that sincerely there are more kind people than not.
Great info. The loafers are not my style at all. Tried to get on board with them but they remind me of my grandma too much. Loved my grandma but just not the shoes 😊
Great video, Jamie! Midi skirts come in different lengths, and your denim midi skirt is quite a bit longer than mine, which hits me a couple of inches below my knee. This makes it a bit more challenging wearing knee-high boots because I like to make sure there's no gap between the top of the boot and the hem of the skirt, so the boots have to be really tall to fit the bill.
Thank you for this video, it’s really important to get footwear right 🌟 I also have concerns with leg wear, I have fair skin and thick legs so I like coverage, I appreciate you mentioning tights!!!
I always wear an about 2-2.5” heel with skirts and dresses, unless I need to change into sneakers or flats for long walks, as I did on my daily commute. For one thing, skirts and dresses are always too long for petite me and the heels improve my proportions. Thanks for this, I love any video for us skirt/dress wearers.
I never cared for the skin colored shoes. Just can't get on board with that. I think I'd rather do the bookend option with black on top and black shoes on the bottom. Just my opinion of course. Love your videos though. They are really helpful.
Hmm...I love your style and appreciate your videos but I disagree with a lot of your shoe takes in this one. For some examples the problem seems to be less about the type of shoe featured and more to do with the color and other factors. I think perhaps the flats were discounted in instances where they worked well. And I liked the knee length dress without the tights. I usually like fashion sneakers with skirts and dresses but here felt this pair didn't work.
I wear flat shoes with all my skirts , I wish I can wear boots but my foot hurt and it has to be wide , boots on the island is not really a good idea. Pumps are nice
Great inspiration. Got cream loafers I love but struggling to style them, do you have any ideas to help or any videos that could give me some ideas please?
I'm so sorry I have not answered your question! I don't have any videos on that but I can give you a few tips. They would look good with ankle straight jeans, crop wide leg jeans and maybe a midi denim skirt. Balance your top half with a waist length lose or chunky sweater or a jacket/ blazer and I also love button up shirts with them. Maybe find a stripe or leopard print one and get it a little more relaxed fit and either tuck it or tie it in the front.
Many combinations you are showing as wrong clash not because of the shoe per se but for the colors you are choosing. For example, the rust brown satin skirt is asking for browns, not for cream or black.
Some of those skirts are way too long, to the point where it’s better to just wear pants. Those pointy toed boots are overrated and the loafers look better with some of these options. Overall the Mary Jane’s are the best option! And sneakers are totally inappropriate and just cheapen the outfits!
I don’t like the denim maxi- it is church lady- like what 19 kids and counting would wears. Of women who like Muslims wear to try to look trendy even their hijabs just kill the outfits

I’m sure I’m the only one but I think those long denim skirts scream frumpy.
Agree
💯

Totally agree 😁
Yes. Never got into the long denim skirts.
I agree that they look frumpy - at least to me.

The pointy toe flats with the maxi dress definitely work
Yes, I totally agree.

As someone who only wears skirts and dresses, this is really helpful! Where did you get that denim maxi skirt?
I love pointed toe shoes and think your flats worked great with black maxi skirt. Great video. Agree with your choices. Thanks!
Thanks, Jamie. Lots of good ideas. I sometimes can hear your guidance in my head while clothes shopping!
An update in the spring would be great as well

Again, loved your options!! Thank you. I do struggle with the midiskirt.
Excellent! I agree 100% with your recommendations. Merry Christmas 🎄

Jamie, I would love to see a video on how to style western knee high boots.
Really great video!!!Thanks for the tips!!!🩷🩷🩷greetings from Portugal
The pump or sling back 👍😊
Thanks for making a video to address my confusion!❤

Im trying to find the right sock for my mary jane ballet flats at the moment 😂
Very helpful. Thx! 😊

@@YourGuideToStyle thanks. Will try your suggestions. Much appreciated 👍

Hi Loved the fashion trainers under the maxi black dress? 12:01 I dont see product info for them. Can you provide?
I thought this was a great video!
I will stick with pants mostly though.
I like the strap black shoes better. I'm super tall so maybe that's why it seems fine to me... Not a fan of the strap nude pair.
Thanks for sharing!
Denim midi skirt + black low heel loafers + black baggie sweater = Amy Farafowler 🤣🤣🤣
In my opinion, the denim skirts are not interesting, everything else is ok 😊.
Where is the brown satin skirt from? I don’t see it on your list, thanks.
It's from Quince. It should be in the description!
Dillard's has one by Antonio Melanie. It is a bit longer, but lovely.
I got one in same color and another deep green (for Christmas attire) at TJMaxx
@@annmariethomas9968 Cool. Is the green satin skirt midi? What brand? Thanks.

I think the maxi denim skirt is ugly!
