  • 00:00 Borneo, the fourth largest island globally, has emerged as a poignant symbol of an imbalanced struggle against powerful corporations exploiting its resources, disregarding the well-being of its people, biodiversity, and ecosystems.
03:08 Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei collectively inhabit this remarkable island.
04:50 Armed, every resident of Borneo stands prepared.
10:42 Ancient beliefs dictate that spirits dwell within each tree.
13:10 Once renowned for headhunting, the island's inhabitants now live harmoniously.
13:59 Ali sustains himself by selling birds in the market.
19:48 Borneo faces an imminent ecological catastrophe, having lost a staggering 85% of its primary forests.
21:05 The timber derived from these forests is renowned as the world's most resilient.
24:24 Battling the downpour, he maneuvers through a treacherous muddy road.
28:11 In the Derawan archipelago, locals fervently pray that oil exploration will spare their idyllic home from destruction.
32:37 The inhabitants of this archipelago are affectionately known as sea gypsies.
35:30 As he traverses with a load of timber, the road grows increasingly perilous.
41:00 Logs are transported by floating them on waterways.
44:55 However, occasionally, the forest reclaims the land, erasing all traces of human presence.

@@panzermora902 from what country you're from? Seemingly, you don't know what you're talking about. Ok, I will ask you something to start with your research.
      1. What happened in 1658 why Sabah including Palawan was given to Sultanate of Sulu?
      3. Do you know where is Sulu?
      4. Way back in 1878, Why the British North Borneo Company has control to Sabah? To whom they are paying the rental price of 5,300 rinngit?
      5. Despite of that, why Malaysia is up to now claiming that Sabah is part of their territory?
      6. Do you know what Mohammed Jamahula Alam did why there's a territorial dispute up to now?
      7. Perhaps, you may also want to dig deeper about politics, politicians and their intentions during that time on why Sabah is in fact under Philippine territory.
You answer those questions and get back to me so i could give you more. At least you will learn sonething to comment on other than what you only learned from tabloids.

    THE GOOD NEWS.
We will finally get to see what Borneo looks like from under that forest.
There will nothing but one big clearing to set up the bird trap.

Makes me sad, these companies should be getting locked up for cutting all these trees, worst part they are not planting new ones ! Where is the government

In just two decades Borneo lost 85% of its natural habitat equivalent to 2/3 therds of France . This is heart breaking💔. Thousands of trees being cut down just for a mere glow on your neck to show it off to your acquaintances

Interesting. I've always wondered how the idea of sacrificing something to appease God(or the gods) came to be, can find this ritual across most cultures at some point in their histories (and even today).

I think the idea of sacrifice came about due to ignorance and fear
