@zylith93 - Nani cannot pull off huge box office succeses right now, that's why he is not even in the race with the tier 1 heroes. Right now, he has only 2 tricks upon his sleeve, sad emotions and comedy. I agree that he did a great job in many films but If you observe those films keenly, they are mostly a combination of comedy and emotion. I liked Nani's decison about changing his routine and try some action and language/body tranformation in Dasara. He would be in the box office race with the others if he also can try to pull off the enitre navarasa, which automatically pulls more people into theatres to watch his films.

Actually Mahesh Babu attempted many different genres and most of them failed in his early stages of film career. Then he took on worked out formulas and getting block busters. Once in a while he picks up different story lines but box office success is hot and cold.
Right now only NTR and Nani can do good justice to diversified plotlines

Please watch his interviews to know that about him and his relationship with his fans and the newcomer directors and story writers of the Industry. He's the only guy who never repeats his roles more than once and he only works with debutant directors and story tellers only!

Obviously Nani, he has more credibility as an capable actor not only inside AP but also in other states and he is one of the very few who could accept constructive criticism and make amends instead of trashing critics ❤
Nani is not yet an a lister yet and also he doesn't listen to critiques he tries new still which sometimes works quite well like jersey, dasara. But movies like mca, nenu local, tuck jagadish are extremely routine, and also his hi nanna was technically bad but it was decent.

@suryavalluri3894 Nenu Local is a good entertainer buddy, comedy scenes in Nenu Local are hard to pull off because they're are not situation dependent, they are mostly dependent on hero's comedy timing and Nani just excelled in it, though the story is routine the acting requires skill and versatility... if it is released now it would have been celebrated like premalu and love today

Prabhas is now too big of a star and he may never do another Mirchi or Mr Perfect but his comic timing is amazing in those films. I really wish he will express himself freely again and indulge in few projects like that. Also I kinda miss him dancing on peppy tunes. I hope we get to see that again.

I love Nani since Eega (Makkhi). He is truly a gem of a person in terms of versatility.
I'm happy that u appreciate how well versed Nani is in his craft. Not many people recognise him. I was hooked to him ever since eega.. with only just 10min of screen time, his acting and performance led me to explore his previous films and be stoked about his next movies as well. Such a fab man he is 👍🔥
I just saw Shyam Singha Roy yesterday. I was blown away by Nani and Sai Pallavi. Such a great movie. Nani has done Tamil movies as well so as a Tamilian I already knew of him.

For me, Its NTR and nani... Both are great in their respective roles in each movie. I was in awe for NTR's acting in the movie "Aravindha Sametha" directed by Trivikram.

Your words about Nani is 100% true jammy and the one quality he has compared to other actors you mentioned is Nani also produced movies which none did. He backed projects like AWE, D for Dopidi & HIT franchise. He's encouraging new talents.
Also i'd suggest you to watch Mahesh's KHALEJA (for its story telling and his acting) & Allu Arjjun's VEDAM (for his performance) because those projects never worked financially these actors stopped taking risks & focused only on commercial movies. those were the good old days of telugu cinema.

OMG I love Takkari Donga. Thankfully a fan subtitled it years ago and there is a pirated copy with subs floating around that I got my hands on.
Nani ,Ram charan and Allu arjun are looking for versatility in scripts .Ram charan's Rangasthalam was something out of the box!!! .Allu arjun' Pushpa has same commercial elements of a typical telugu movie but varied in the way of presentation. Nani is always ahead of time in Telugu industry in terms of acting as well as selection of scripts.
Nani & jr NTR possess the range but jr NTR won't be able to try riskier genres due to his huge fanbase and numbers included. Plus i thought u'll add 'Orange' when you spoke about Ram Charan cause that's another of his great acting performances.
I dont know about prabhas acting, but i do believe he tries do different genres which i think we could see after bahubali 2

this was something that i wanted to see....everyone talks abt maheshs okkadu , pokiri..but no one recognises films like nani and nijam which were absolute gamble for any actor in any industry during their time of release...and buisnessman is a movie way ahead of its time .... the character of surya bhai is on par with the present day iconic charaters like pushpa and rocky with much deeper writing involved

As a fan of mb I too didn't liked his recent 2 films but he is the first actor to do versatile films and take risks nani nijam nenokkadine Khaleja shows what a extraordinary actor he is but people are too busy in judging his recent films
That and honestly people are too quick to judge him. Yeah, I’m sure there are more “expressive” actors out there, but in terms of experimenting and remotely appropriate improvements, One Nenokkadine, Khaleja, Arjun, Pokiri, etc. have been definitive proofs of him actually acting anything worth a damn. His recent two films may have been “eh”, but the man has had his share of good, mediocre, and not so good films just like any actor would have. If anything, seeing SS Rajamouli’s upcoming project with MB (Codenamed #SSMB29) seems really promising and Rajamouli has a track record of serving and delivering on emotions and entertainment, so I have enough trust that I feel both SSR and MB won’t disappoint.

An actor trying different genres is one thing and he or she should be applauded for that. However, an actor being able to oull off different characters is a whole different ball game.
To be honest none of the Telugu superstars are versatile. They keep doing the same stuff most of the time since they are treated as superhumans and the audience like to watch them doing the massy roles instead of doing something different everytime. I can only think of Nani who is atleast trying to do something different even though he's not like exceptional and all

Def Nani. The other actors also have a lot of potential but it's clear that they chase after commercial scripts rather than the craft of their work. Nani brings a lot of new types of films into the cinema and thinks about the success of the Telugu industry as a whole instead of his own. He tries to work with new directors and produce diff types of films like Awe. He's an actor I know will deliver.
Happy to see such in-depth analysis of Tollywood.. Much deserved appreciation was long overdue to this industry on a global level.. excited to see what's more in store from these actors. 😄😄

For me Mahesh Babu does the same role... He has a really good fanbase in Hindi however some Times it feels like a repetive action... His acting that impressed me the most is in movie 1: Nenokkadine... The movie isn't accepted by the audience and that was the last time he took a risk.. Later on he is just doing movies to please his fanbase but he is a phenomenal actor.. I hope with SS rajamouli he brings the best version of him

Well Allu Arjun mainly done commercial films but I think in Vedam(2010) movie it's shows Allu Arjun's versatility and his acting range.

Rana actually tried the most genres but his acting is still sub par - villain in myth fantasy in Bahubali, naval officer in Ghazi Attack, politician in NRNM & Leader, crazy jungli in Aranya, rich rowdy in Bheemla Nayak, naxal in Virata Parvam, drama artist in Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum, historical fiction as Rudramadevi, romantic films as Naa Ishtam and so on. He also acts in Hindi and Tamil films. He has had relative success as well, over 50% of his films are hits-blockbusters. In the current generation of actors, he is the most versatile. He is a clear winner, still has full range of available movies (can continue to do so for a long time) and shouldn't be excluded from the list.

Most underrated Telugu actor - Adivi Sesh
Even Nareen Polishetty as well.
But Adivi Sesh is not versatile. He is more into cop and spy kind of roles and he nails it. But his experiments never worked even in acting stand point

I believe a good actor is someone who can act in both Mass and class films and is a good fit for those characters. Although my favourite actor is Mahesh Babu, I believe, currently in Telugu industry it is Jr. NTR who is a brilliant actor. In Tamil it is surya & Vikram. In Malayalam it is Prithviraj and Tovino & FaFa

I was a huge Mahesh Babu fan as a kid. When I first saw Ashta Chamma in the theatre when I was 7, my mother told me Mahesh Babu was in it, and I remember crying when I saw Nani come out instead. 😂 but now, after 16 years, I look forward to Nani films and less of Mahesh Babu. The guy is just precious and one of a kind.

Nani is such a humble and down to earth guy I met him at a school annual celebration day. His son and mine go to the same school. The kids wanted a selfie with him and he didn’t even hesitate to take selfies with them poor guy probably gave like 20 selfies that day. 😂

Starting From Maya Bazaar,Dana Veera sura karna,simhasanam,Jagadeka veerudu Athi koka sundari,Magadheera, Bahubali to RRR Tollywood always tried to push the bar of film making.. There r lot of award winning films, art films or parallel cinema But nothing can beat the popularity of a big budget commercial cinema with song nd dance...So the actors also gave huge importance to commercial cinema ss they also don't want to disappoint the fans.Whenver a Telugu Hero tried a performance role without dance nd blockbuster songs, most of them were flopped ..Mega star chiranjeevi totally changed Tollywood forever the way it works..After chiranjeevi s arrival dancing became a primary criteria in Telugu industry to become a hero.. thats why most of the Telugu actors r good dancers.. That's why the versatility factor in Tollywood is missing to some extent because super stars can't do a simple roles without dance nd songs.. But now things r changing.. Films like Rabgasthalam, Dasara, pushpa r giving some hope to actors to try different characters nd get ups. ..But the fact is that we love watching Big budget commercial cinema with songs, music, dance on the first day..Nothing gives satisfaction than that.. Finally Tollywood never makes movies for awards as it's basically a commercial industry making films for normal public.. Tollywood expertised in making Big budget commercial cinema.. Tollywood never believes in making documentary, art films or so called realistic critics loving films to get awards..For Telugu people cinema is a celebration in theatres nd They support all language films without any bias... My choice is Mahesh Babu. Because we as audiance have failed to give success for movies like 1-nennokkadine, Spyder, Khalela. So after those movies failed miserably at box office, he has started choosing stories with masala elements like some fightes, few masala songs.
