  • An absolutely amazing opportunity that we are so excited to share with you guys! It all started with Jim wanting to change his original gearbox in his Vauxhall Cavalier Touring Car to a F28 Gearbox that the Twin Engine Corsa runs, as it easily replaceable. When we went down, due to our knowledge of the C20XE, Jim invited us to pit-crew for him and the team for when they do the British Championship this year, how could we say no! So today, we are rebuilding the gearbox ready for the Silverstone Circuit and also showing you around this old monster of a car! We are so thankful to Jim for this opportunity and hope we can help him continue racing for as long as possible!

Thank you for your support, it means more than you think.

I absolutely love this Cavalier, when I see it, I freeze with intense euphoria just looking at it! And that Swindon XE is a beast! I have a 91 Astra GSi Mk3 with the early XE…..boy, what I’d do to have a reverse head swindon engine in it! I’ve always had a passion for the XE engine! I’d also love to have a Cavalier, they’re so smart and cool looking!!

Absolutely fantastic, and from my point of view, I remember watching the best touring car series ever. One of the reasons I bought a cavalier gsi. Such a good looking car and that 20xe.

Me to. I used to go and watch BTCC in my white GSI. I put a 3.0 V6 in in as the 4 pot was to slow and got 285hp from it. Then sold it to buy a house with my ex. 🤣🤣

Heartbreaking when you think how many Astra, Calibri's were binned just to take the engine for some racecar/tuning set up.

Around 18 years ago a guy at the local energas depot I use to go to had the rolling shell of the civic type r fn2 touring car the cagework inside was a work of art they moved the driving position to the middle rear for better weight distribution alot of engineering goes into them now how simple they was 25 30 years ago mental

If you watch the racing video part 2 it shows more of the engine but I have also done an in-depth into the Swindon engine which is coming, don’t worry. I wasn’t going to be that close to 4 of them an not have a good poke around 🤣

They did but the description in the video isn't 100% correct. Chris Hodgetts ran it in rwd and tested it in 4x4! form in 1990 before it was converted to fwd and became Clelands car in 91 after Allam stacked his car mid season.
I seem to remember Cleland saying on a podcast most of the rwd version's transmission was out of a bmw m3.
