At last, someone who not only describes and demonstrates the unique and specific details of each guitar, and applies his obvious genuine knowledge of the instrument, without the “ego” that so many guitar players on You Tube have, who attempt to show off their playing skills rather than demonstrate the guitar’s attributes!...Richard then plays, one of the best demonstrations of the versatility of both guitars, at the end of the review, clearly showing that he is not only a master of the instrument, but that he has a wonderful ear for music....Absolutely fabulous,......as good as I’ve ever seen.......and I’ve been trying to master the instrument for many decades....Greg.
I have the RSS02 in the Same green. Brilliant guitar.
prefer the p90 version but wish it had the stop tail nice demo Rich
Yes, sort it out Yamaha.
The older lineup had models with a stop tail as far as I can remember
Meh. I love the tailpiece.
Richard, you're demos are always great.
I bought the humbucker version a month ago in Vintage White. It's an incredibly good guitar at any price point. The fact you can get them for under £650 is incredible. The finish is flawless across the guitar including the fret ends done beautifully. Locking tuners would have been nice. It's not light (mine is 8lbs 2oz) but it's perfectly balanced sat on your lap and comfortable from a strap.
I have Gibson and PRS costing many times the amount and this holds its own against them. Well done Yamaha, great job.
Rubbish
great review, thanks ... the 2 are different, despite the similarity. I would say you need both! P90s and a HH model
Get the same color and management will think it's the same guitar 😂
Thanks for SS frets. Really love stainless frets.
Would have preferred locking tuners and stop tail bridge on P90 pickup model. Also colors could have been better.
Overall, the new addition of SS is great.
I'm a bit disappointed there isn't a gold colour for the mid-price p90 model. Gold currently only available on the top range p90 revstar.
Great review Richard - as always! Friendly, informative, expert opinion and great playing - 5* mate. 👍, Cheers, Ky
Just got one in the Swift Blue...this guitar feels 'alive'!
That's the finish I want
Excellent demo. The P90s out shined the HBs at the end.
oh god i love this guitar
Incredibly informative video.
Great playing, and those p90's sound gorgeous. Me want Yamaha Revstar.
Both models sounds good. I need both! 😀
super informative demo. great tune and playing too :)
I want p90s but with that beautiful green finish!!!!
I wanted the P-green as well. Apparently, it doesn't exist
Very very nice review mate ;) Thanks
You do great reviews looking forward to try out at the Tacoma Guitar show 22.
Love the song
They are certainly kicking goals with the new Revstars. The chambering has brought me back to Revstars as I had one briefly in 2019 but the body produced some overtones I didn't like and maybe I wasn't the only one who found that hence the chambering to tune the body and produce some nice acoustic resonance! I bought the P90 standard which sounds excellent and the pickups produce more high end chime than many P90 style pickups but still sound like P90's.
Great playing and great 👍 demo!
Sweet!
Great.
P90 sounds so good 😍
You earned that buck..
To the guy that removed his comments saying that this guitar is 'Meh' and sounds like a cheap Chinese 'knock off'.
No problem. I initially found the guitar too bright but the tone control is super responsive and wide. Once you roll it off to about half way the sound isn't any where near as bright and a lot rounder and usable. As for the unplugged sound it is the loudest and most resonant 'solid' guitar I've ever owned and the sustain is good on my example. The mid boost control adds a load of low mids and depth and I've had mine sounding close to my Les Paul albeit with its own Revstar character. To sum up for £650 this has been a great buy for me, it is versatile and can go from sounding like a Telecaster on steroids to a Les Paul with the mid boost engaged. Cheers.
My dilemma is Humbucker or P-90.
mine too! 🙈
Did you ever pick a lane? I'm trying to decide now, and leaning to the P-90s
Over all a good review but it would be nice if he had actually bothered to find out what the wiring in the 2 and 4 positions is actually doing. There is a time delay happening. Not an EQ change.
The outro is reminiscent of Rainbow`s song, All Night Long. 😉👍 I`m pretty sure Richard was going for that. 😁
Hello! I just checked out both these guitars at Yamaha Music Square... just curious to know why does the RSS02T has 'springy' pickups? There is a significant amount of displacement when you push the bridge pickup down. What is the logic to it?
One of the overlooked features/qualities that isn’t apparent on the specs sheets or reviews is the quality of the volume and tone pots. I have 4 or 5 guitars with the famed CTS pots in other guitars. But it’s not a patch on my gen 2 Revstar Standard. These guitars really are something. I’ve just bought my third.
Hi David, can you please explain this a bit better. So are you saying the these new Revstar have CTS pots or other type of pots you consider very good?) sorry not english so i am not sure if understood well) Cheersa
@@kanjinha I don’t know the brand of pots. I can only say they work very well and I find them as good CTS pots I have on other guitars.
😊👍
“No amplifier with the volume zero”. Yup always be sure vol is on zero when playing without an amp😂
Man you better or your gonna blow your ears out. Lol
Mildly amusing.
My Amps go to -1 just to make sure 🤣
@@MrNamePerson thanks 😊
You can do a good review on any guitar.lol.
One of each.... For the price of a LP Studio..... roughly
Funny, when this weird boost switch is activated the guitar ist quiter.
I have no use for this gimmick.
You mean the whole video you were playing through the boss buffer...?
Amateur.
LOL!
And yet there is tone….tone…tone…tone
@@topnobby Tone for days...mmm days...
@@DMSProduktions 🤣 yes, cold boss buffered tone for days. I guess it's become ubiquitous in the fast food tone days.
I really like their eq200 pedal but I deliberately avoid buffered bypass pedals because sometimes I want just my amp (all be out dulled by the extra cable).
It would be interesting to hear these great looking guitars through a bright amp like mine, I may find I don't like it as much as I thought because the guitars already sound quite bright. I have an early Marshall style amp with KT66 power tubes.
Thanks DMS. Keep rockin
@@soundknight Vox not BRIGHT enough for you Bri?
Change the colour and get rid of those those horrible tram lines and you have a gorgeous guitar.......Come on Yamaha.
Funny, when this weird boost switch is activated the guitar ist quiter.
I have no use for this gimmick.
No it's definitely lpuder
Yamaha accurately describes what the switch does. It does two things, it boost the mids with a passive transformer, creating a jazz type tone without fully rolling off the highs. When used with a drive pedal almost sounds like a fattener.
