Here is a classic episode of the soap opera The Edge of Night from 1976. Please be sure to watch the previous episode that has previously been posted before watching this.
Totally agree. They have limited options now. Those coming up starting in the fifties with television anew were very fortunate. It was their time and it lasted for decades. An era gone with the wind 💨
Donald May, Adam Drake, died on January 28, 2022 at his home in Kent, New York. He was 92. He had recently been diagnosed with cancer of the larynx and had a stroke 5 years earlier according to his wife reports say. Rest in peace Donald May.
When I met Donald May back in 2016, I showed him this episode and he told me that he never seen this episode and forgot all about this. It’s something how back then a lot of these episodes were taped the day of so the actors and actresses didn’t get to see their work. These were the days before VCR.
this is absolutely fantastic. what superb acting. i was about 5 years old when this originally aired. i wish i could pick right up from here and watch all the way to the end of this shows run in daytime. my goodness! 👍💯💪
Louise Shaffer is phenomenal. I remember following this story at the time it first aired. Her face as Josie would totally transform. She really had those personalities nailed down, so you can believe when she was Serena, Josie, and Josie pretending to be Serena. The reveal is still a skin crawling experience, with her crazed wail. 😱
"The Edge of Night" deserves a reboot. It would be on Netflix with 4 new half hour episodes every week. Netflix will be the right spot for "Edge" with foul language, blood violence, and occasional sex.
Grace Garment - who came up with the Serena/Josie storyline - suffered from the same personality disorder. Just as life imitates art, Ms.Garment was found in a seedy hotel room after she took her life. While she was missing, the EON annoncer would plead for her to contact her husband and children during the show's closing credits.
Thanks so much. Harrowing material. I think some of it was new to me, and the picture quality was vastly improved. Really superb acting and writing - showing everything soaps used to be. And Louise Shaffer was wonderful. Is there any way you could upload the Genoa City stuff on the last bit of the tape to Dailymotion, I mean if you have that episode?
Today what soap operas on major TV networks are comparable to this? Nothing. Days of Our Lives is crazy all over the map with its repeated episodes of violence in Salem---same repeated themes over and over. Multiple story-lines overlap, whereas Edge emphasized one harrowing story at a time, keeping dedicated viewers constantly on "edge".
I need some info from Edge Of Night fans. My grandmother watched it every afternoon when I was very young. There was an episode in 1976 I believe where a man was chasing a lady through a house. I don't know why but that episode creeped me out lol! Does anyone remember this episode? I've never forgotten about it. Please help ☺️
Unfortunately, I don't. I will be out of town next week so I'm going to be taking a break, but of course I'll be on the lookout for anything. I'm getting more and more requests, so I can't satisfy everyone!
This is an homage to a great time in NYC when trained actors had showcases like this to work their craft. I miss those days badly.

I remember rushing home from school to watch the Edge of night. This story line had been developing for months.
Did you mean high school or grade school?
Very convincing performance. She was phenomenal.
Cable should show these on soap network. These shows should have been preserved over the years. A shame so many lost years.
I hear that one local cable channel is airing The Doctors, so who knows what will happen!
I agree... maybe the decades Channel may do this it will be kind of cool if they did..
Yes absolutely bring back soap net for the classic soap operas thank you for the upload of this great soap opera😊

Louise Schaffer is excellent here and in everything she does.
Louise Shaffer was one of the best soap opera stars we'll ever have.
Edge of night at its best.

I was about to make a joke about Julia Sugarbaker sitting at the prosecution table....then looked it up and it WAS Dixie Carter!
Loved Louise Shaffer and the Serena/Josie saga.

Greg May Are you related to Donald May?
Is that true about Miss garnet?
This storyline and Robert finding out about Iris and driving a poker through her portrait on Another World my mom was glued to the tv!
Today's soaps are all garbage compared to this excellence!
They were back then, too - Edge of Night was always the exception
Looks like the same courtroom set from that Karen Wolek OLTL scene
Now that's what I'll call the Mannix and a Hawaii Five-0 soap opera.
Thanks for the upload !! XD
Louise Shaffer was later Rae in Ryan’s Hope.
And Goldie on All My Children.
I was born the next day. My mom was in labor from 6am on the 19th until 5:30 pm the next day.
Wow, love the scream
Sadly, this storyline was actually based on a real-life producer of the show that vanished and was never seen again.

Unfortunately, I don't have that episode.

This is interesting I think the storyline is also when the Sybil book was out perfect timing...

the one with the multiple personalities is fantastic she should have had a bigger career
Wow! The best soap of all time (Edge) and the worst of all time (All My Bad Actors) on the same tape!
This is as great as Judith Light during the murder trial on OLTL.
This story was after CBS cancelled it and ABC picked it up
Excellent quality. Do you have any other Edge videos.
Do you have any All my Children eppys from 1976? It's really the only soap opera I like. Thnx.
Unfortunately, I don't. I will be out of town next week so I'm going to be taking a break, but of course I'll be on the lookout for anything. I'm getting more and more requests, so I can't satisfy everyone!
