So what did we learn? Apparently it's OK to draft two people at once, as long as you're a babyface team; you can go to the Hall of Fame as an active participant (and no, Ric Flair is not a fair comparison); and age discrimination, at least in 1990, was still a thing.
Even so, it would have been interesting to see where this show could have gone if not for the bankruptcy.
If they ever tried to reboot it, I'd like to see eight-minute quarters, 60-second cycles, a real-life profile of one of the skaters at halftime, no gators in OT (match race/dump in water could still be used), and NO KAYFABE! They'd have to change some of the team names, too. Violators and Maniacs won't cut it today.
Those were 2 of the stupidest storylines I've seen and I am counting the Russo era in WCW in that equation. If people want to know why Rollergames '89 failed, those 2 storylines are your prime reason. NOBODY knew what was going on and watching Bill Griffiths Sr. mumble about a "blue ribbon panel" made it even more convuluded. Hell, it took 3 weeks to explain why the Twins were split up and it made no sense even then. (How the hell can one team draft 2 players as one entity while 2 other teams drafted them as individuals?) Ralphie's hall of fame storyline was even stupider since there was no way in hell he could be sympathetic since nobody had issue with him getting inducted, it was that he would have to wait until he retired to be inducted.
The easiest way to do these storylines is as follows:
1. Make the Twins free agents being wooed to heel teams, only to have singing remorse after being mistreated by their new managers only to go back to the Birds mid season or so.
2. Induct Ralphie as he hadn't been active since the last time the T-Birds were active 3 years before, and then have him make a comeback Gordie Howe style.
3. From there, build storylines around all the Rockers who started off as T-Birds, (Flamigan, Darlene, and DJ Terigno,) which would have given us a fun rivalry, but one where the teams can join forces when necessary.

@@GetBenched2010 The free agent idea is better but they needed Georgia Hase to be evil so basically they re-use the same storyline they've recycled for years with Dar and Randi previously.
I'd actually have Ralphie start as the Coach/Manager, then make the comeback. I would also have his daughter Gina skate for the T-Birds possibly as the inspiration to come out of retirement.
The Rockers T-birds rivalry could be interesting. Outside of mentioning Dar's defection I don't think much was made of the other former Birds on the team. How hard would they skate against their former teammates. Would tempers flare between Randi and Dar? Matt and Mike? Ray and Ralphie? Or might the game end with hugs and handshakes and mutual respect. I know the last part is not very Rollergames but it might work.
Will there be another panel soon? And if there's is one can we get Sweet Stephanie and the T bird twins!!!
The T Bird Twins would be easy to find as the own and interior design business. They still look gorgeous.
Travesty that the Rollerjam that premiered 10 years later ran for 2 years whereas Rollergames only lasted 13 episodes
The situlation with the guys behind the funding of the show was basically Bankrupcy and other circumstances beyond their control... both sting a bit but for diffrent reasons. The Legacy goes on at least even if the Roller Derby guys moved on to other stuff or Retired
A couple of Rollergames' skaters also competed on Roller Jam.

@@therainmakerinsider I read it was so much to do with what the ratings where as it was losing a major sponsor. I've read Rollergames got better ratings than American Gladiators

I watched this show religiously on saturday nights but I remember vividly that only 10 episodes ever aired after the premiere, the latter never aired in syndication again. So that means there's 2 bonus episodes?
Thats what I remember as well. After the all star game, it went into repeats and after the repeats cycled, it disappeared.
Our market (Boston) broadcasted the last two episodes. I think it's possible other markets didn't since it was a syndicated program.
