If nothing else you can then immediately build barracks in Caledor, sell it all to Tyrion for a bunch more money and then confederate him a few turns later.
I've been using similar tactics on Caledor campaigns for a while but usually sack bone gulch first turn. I never thought of selling it to Karak Azul then taking it straight back though. Makes sense because Karak Azul usually die to Skaven or Greenskins by about turn 20 anyway. Also, if you're staying in Boneganistan, it may give you a little more positive relations with all the factions that hate you to buy some more time to go east.
Great guide, going to make a save using each option. Made a small change on VH. Looted and occupied Bone Gulch and built a 1 turn barracks on turn 1. Sold it next turn for 7k, ended up with 35k for Caledor start. Just tried the "keep Badland"s option, don't loot and occupy Bone Gulch Turn 1 or you get a rebellion near Vorag on Turn 4 (at VH)......
Nice tips! Although I'm not sure I always want to avoid the rebellion. You can farm it for 2 turns to boost Control back up and at the same time recruit units and ambush trap Drazhoath (Draz should be coming towards Vorag around turn 5-6)
My problem with Caledor is that it only has 2 regions, making it a TORTURE to grow like every other 2 region provinces in the game, at this point those shouldn't be allowed to exist.
I play Imrik with a modified starting position mod that moves him on the Dragon Islands (as it should be) and sends Kugath at the Crystal Spire. Anyway as soon as I confederate Caledor at turn 12 I sell it to Eataine for a military alliance. When Eataine loses to Noctilus, I confederate it.
This may be cheesy but it's unfortunately the only way to use the confederation considering they get wiped out in 6 turns because CA thought it was a good idea to start noctilus right there. Screwing imrik completely. So if they want to cheese me i dont feel bad cheesing them.
How does imrik's dragon taming work with this? Do the events appear in ulthuan or are you effectively barred from the mechanic if you ditch the dark lands
Should not be any problem with the Dragon taming. First event doesn't spawn till Turn 11 and you will have ample time to repsec on turn 3-4 and respawn Imrik by turn 6-7. The Dragon quest will spawn nearby to wherever Imrik is at the time.
I don't think there has ever been a guide for Morathi to confederate the other factions. It's definitely possible, and I have done it before, but it's not the sort of thing you can do in an "X Turns" type guide like this. There are two many variables and it would likely take 30-60 turns to get all the Lords.
Good call - but the first region trade takes ALL Drazhoath's money anyway, so if he gave me a few hundred for warring the orcs I would just get less later from the region trade so it makes no difference.
@@mike-iq1bs Yeah but I already got all their money in the first trade and 2K on the subsequent trades. If I got money off him earlier, then that first "all their money" would just be less, so it would be the same total.
No. I never made any ongoing agreement. Breaking a trade agreement, Non aggression pact or Alliance with tank reliability but I never made any agreements I just sold them a settlement.
How do you sell Bitter Bay to Drazhoath if he doesn't have a region that borders it? Edit: I'm guessing because you sold Ash ridge to him first...so its a region that borders a province where he now has a region...oww my head hurts.
To get that 30k, you must play on legend difficulty, otherwise the ai won't have enough gold for you to steal. Edit: I could be wrong, more testing required 😅
Actually, after testing some more, I'm not sure anymore 😅 I did notice a few things: in the bone gulch, build a barracks (t1red building) on T1, you get more gold from selling it that way. And sometimes automating the gold in diplomacy gives more gold (much more), and sometimes doing it manually gives much more gold. Make sure to try both. Thanks for the fun trick start!
I notice that the bug with the rep isn't fixed yet. Best guess is that gives you the 20 rep for completing the quest after the option for confederation. Always irritated me when cheesing the early confed.
Yeah, that's weird. I just did it on stream and I DID get the influence before the dilemma - although as you saw in the video it didn't give me the influence till after that time. I guess it bugs sometimes but not always.
Now that's one way to impress the Dragon Children of Grand Cathay. Speaking of which, what's a good start for Malakai? Plan to try Legendary difficulty for Malakai one day but I don't know where to start.

Mercy is the Mad Scientist of Warhammer, freaking awesome!
Bitter Bay and Bone Gulch don't feel like words anymore
It's just another Elgi scheme!
🎅🍺 grumble
Sacking The Bone Gulch is tight!
Brilliant Elven Domination science, General.
This is wild. Love an early start on the donut as an option. Especially with a load of cash! Thanks for sharing.
Australlians and finding hilarious exploits in TWWH, name a better duo

Took me a few more turns but I did accomplish it thx!
Another day, another interesting start with Mercy 🙌🏻

Also u can use mod for change starting settlement and start on ulthuan on turn 1.
Excited to try this. I always wanted Imrik to start at ulthuan asap
My problem with Caledor is that it only has 2 regions, making it a TORTURE to grow like every other 2 region provinces in the game, at this point those shouldn't be allowed to exist.
This is the best thing since sliced bread. Thank you

I love the explanation :)
Thanks for the video
Good video
It's crazy! 🤯👏

Its only a 20min 1st battle xD
They may have fixed this already. Im getting a garrison at Bone Gultch on turn 2
You have to sell it on the same turn that you attack it otherwise the garrison will regenerate over the end turn.
Thanks for the video! Would you ever consider doing an updated one for Morathi confederating the other Dark Elf factions?
I don't think there has ever been a guide for Morathi to confederate the other factions. At turn 3 dont just declare war on the darkland orcs. Open diplomacy with drazhoath and offer to declare war on the darcland orcs for money.
Good call - but the first region trade takes ALL Drazhoath's money anyway, so if he gave me a few hundred for warring the orcs I would just get less later from the region trade so it makes no difference.
but doesn't the ai have extra cash you can explot by hitting the money opinion? it is like 2k if i remember correctly
@@mike-iq1bs Yeah but I already got all their money in the first trade and 2K on the subsequent trades. If I got money off him earlier, then that first "all their money" would just be less, so it would be the same total.
@@MercytheMad ohh i understand, thanks!
Does selling a settlement and then immediately attacking it not affect your Reliability?
No. I never made any ongoing agreement. Breaking a trade agreement, Non aggression pact or Alliance with tank reliability but I never made any agreements I just sold them a settlement.

Yes. Sell Ash Ridge first, then you can sell bone gulch or Bitter bay in whichever order you want
Delicious cheesy goodness!

Oh really? I didn't know the AI had less money on lower difficulties. Thanks for the comment, that's good info!

Have only played Malakai once really so still figuring him out. I think I'm going to try heading towards Azhag next time
