  • Come with me as I explore my hometown and take in what it is really like in 2024, Peterborough. Voted constantly as one of the worst places to live in the UK, and recently one of the most depressing. I venture around to show what the camera sees with my own eyes, a couple of interviews and seeing what the state of disrepair a 1865 WW1 & WW2 medical hospital for the veterans and how its been shut down.
    More to come as I venture around and show what I can see, bringing what you might not see or hear but this is Britain, broken in 2024.

      Hey, I speak from my heart, my family go back here 150 years, my great grandfather was an architect for the amazing lido. I’m sad to see it go backwards, I love the posh. Remember going to watch Jimmy Quinn, Martin Curruthers, Andy Clarke. I’ll do more about Peterborough, positive & negative. Because it’s the best way to be, I just hope that people see & that the camera doesn’t lie.

    Been to Peterborough once and it was an absolute shit hole. Piles and piles of rubbish on street corners, saw a fight, someone stealing, houses that look so run down. Not sure what the solution is for places like this

    I grew up in South Bretton, back then everybody had pride in the area. I had a stint in Dogsthorpe as well. I moved away as a teen but when back to Bretton on the way out and back home to Cheshire and Bretton was a literal overgrown dump. I remembered when it started going downhill but moved before it actually did. I could never return to live.

    The area you are showing is predominantly of ethnic minorities (majority population). There are many lovely parts of Peterborough. Like most towns the centre of the City is predominately non British.

    Peterborough once I imagine was a lovely town judging by the housing stock in some areas of the city. However it is a dreadful mess now, brasses turning tricks behind park cars, drug paraphernalia littering the streets, a drug epidemic, people living in overcrowded converted flats from what were originally lovely large houses. Nobody speaks English there either, so many from Eastern europe.

    I was born here and yes it was lovely 30years ago we had clean streets people were not homeless and we had many shops clubs pubs and more in the late 90 there was a drug epidemic and then the influx of migration due to Peterborough been on the fens having a lot of factory and land work it’s changed dramatically the hospital opened 13 years ago and they said there was not enough beds then but the ratio of new communities popping up it’s horrendous trying to get even on the hospital grounds it’s jam packed and no spaces to park at all if you need to go. We had two hospitals one by the railway over the blue bridge just past there and one in the same place this new one was built but it’s crazy. There’s no big chain shopping no more John Lewis pulled out of the shopping Center and many shops have gone through that. I did not understand why they thought it was a fantastic idea for a university as there no night life not shopping experience and you have walked around Peterborough so would you come and spend 10k a year to study here. There are still some nice things like the cathedral there ferry meadows nice for a walk out in open space lakes etc but I thing they need new council members and MP as what we have are no helping anyone or the city itself.

      I was born in PDH on Thorpe Road in the 80’s. Agree with what you say, I walk around & drive around here and see a decline, the demise of this city. It’s beyond recovery in my opinion. It’s a shame. Queensgate is a graveyard. The MP’s? They ain’t interested in improvements, only to their salary that’s all.

    This is one of the worst areas, but peterborough has some really nice areas further out, I think its unfairly judged based on the bad areas.

    • @mikethebloodthirsty
      @mikethebloodthirsty Pƙed 20 dny

      Yup, none of these people visit the cathedral, the town park, ferry meadows, the area around the lido... The nicer bits of town where the museum is... These videos are garbage, yes it has its problems... But there are still positives.

    • @paulmcallister8948
      @paulmcallister8948 Pƙed 20 dny +3

      Problem is the bad areas of town and cities (like p'boro) spread like cancer and soon the whole town and city is screwed! 😳đŸ„șđŸ«Ł and yes I worked around Peterborough in last couple of years on and off! I have seen the cancer spreading! Whole areas totally overran with mostly unneeded immigration (which we pay for our own demise with taxes). Wtf? đŸ€’

    • @4KWalkz
      @4KWalkz  Pƙed 20 dny +2

      I never visit? Haha I’m born and bred here, I walk the embankment every day, I see homeless thieves, drug users, needles, stolen pushbikes. Want me to carry on? Come with me & meet me. I can show all the lovely positive things, easy, but reality, take a look. My great grandfather was one of the architects for the lido, my history goes back here over 150 years. It’s a shambles.

    • @4KWalkz
      @4KWalkz  Pƙed 20 dny +2

      Exactly my point Paul. I can show you certain areas which are overrun, bogged down. Or the lovely jubbly flower gardens to keep Mike above happy, maybe he should go for a walk with me & see it for himself. Positive vibes yes, but reality check please and your comment is very true.

    • @paulmcallister8948
      @paulmcallister8948 Pƙed 19 dny +3

      @4KWalkz yeah I know what you mean. I work around the country and often stay in Peterborough (to work in the PE Postcode in Cambridgeshire and parts of soutb west Lincs). They often put us in two of the city's premier inns. One overlooking a really nice golf course. And another not so far from the now infamous Lincoln Road. Believe me, I know Peterborough used to be a lovely place to live (and still is in the outlaying areas). And it pains me to say it, but give it another 20 years at current immigration rates (which surely can only get worse with most of the world's 8 billion people wanting to immigrate to the west) and that too will all be gone. The whole country (and western, northern and southern Europe) is doomed. Swamped by a tsunami of unneeded mass immigration of mostly huge families that all need to be billeted, fed and clothed! đŸ€”đŸ§
