      Yeah my first dog I got when I was 6 died at 14, she was a decently sized cougar hound.
      She had multiple meds, and had to be carried down the stairs, wear a diaper...

    • @lemmingscanfly5
      @lemmingscanfly5 Před 5 měsíci

      Goodnight, my sweet darling, Darla...
      And rip to her brother, and *my brother's* dog, Sherman as well for that matter who we lost 4 years earlier when he got instant massive cancer in the side of his thigh, which we got a biopsy check for at the vet, which resulted in him having to wear a cone and be locked in a room, leaving him very stressed, which *then* caused him to out of nowhere have his stomach flip 180° knotting the passages (Gastric volvulus), and then he rapidly blew up with gas like a balloon...
      We had to get him to the vet as quickly as possible before he literally burst, and then there really wasn't much more they could do but stick a hypodermic needle in his tummy to deflate him, so we could say goodbye without him in so much pain... My brother left work and rushed to say goodbye to his dog. 😢
      That was a tragic and suspenseful experience for the loss of a dog.
      We loved those goofy hard-hunting-bred dogs like they were our siblings.
      Just talking about them like this is almost making me cry.🥲
      Edit: wow, thinking about it now, we lost my girl 6 years ago, and we lost her brother 4 years earlier...
      It's been 10 years... 👴

      No guys, relax. Old ppl can live and die healthly. We see a bunch of seniors getting a flu or broking a bone and after few days they're dead. Or they die sleeping or from natural causes like non functional organs. My grandmother passed away this year. She had 103. The last week of her life she stoped speaking and eating. Then, the breathing was weaker and weaker till she died. She had a healthy and happy life. She saw WWI and the invasion of japanese empire in Taiwan. She saw the invention of computer, the last chinese manzu Noble members alive and real concubines from China and Korea. She visited Korea before the War. She helped out the transcription from ritual Chinese wood blocks from nowadays traditional Chinese. The wrote from right to left and had the lotus feet. She married 3 times (such a rare phenomenon at the time 1935) with rituals that are extinct today. She believed the radio could capture your soul. She was there before the famous qipao or cheonsamg (I don't speak cantonese, so I may wrote it wrong). She cooked like an ancient magician, and embroidered with horse hair and gold thread many clothes for the weddings of our family. She went to Africa, Turkey and England before WWII. She took notes of all her life with photos and paintings into her personal scroll. She was one of the few taiwanese to have her ID changed cause she was born while Japan invaded Taiwan, so they had to translate her ID and school documents from japanese to Chinese. She also was forced to learn japanese and have a japanese name. When she heard I was going 6 months to Japan she almost passed away. She said Japan is cursed nation and thought they could kill me. At the time she was 92. She was such a creature, she learned English at her 70's. And her history are in the Museum of People, a great online museum talking about common people with fascinating lives. I may have wrote too much, but I'm so proud of her and hope my comment can be an example of good elderly years! She lastly made for me my Chinese gown suit cause she hoped I would get married this year 😅.

    PSA for people with big dogs. Lay out a large blanket like a comforter sheet, then set/get the dog to lay on it, then wrap them up like a burrito(leave a end open for the dog to breathe.) Multiple people can hold onto the sheet to lift the dog and the legs won't stick out so carrying them to the car to be put down/hospital visits are a lot easier. Worked for maddie just fine

His favorite thing was always sitting outside in the sun and listening to the birds so we did that together one last time. He always had a ton of energy personality and intelligence so it was hard to see him slow down and age. If you look up Seal Point Ragdoll that's exactly what he looked like. long coat and big blue eyes 🩵💙

    As a person who just had to put their elderly Pomeranian down 15 days ago, this couldn’t be 100% more true. It took me longer than most to realize how old she was and how it effected her life because she looked even younger than she was when we got her!

    okay since everyone is sad in comments this is like my Pomeranian rn he’s 10 and got attacked a few years back, dragged by the neck by another dog and was paralyzed for some time after that. we couldn’t afford a $10k surgery so had him on meds for a while and he was practically at his ends but magically he got better except now after all that he suddenly can’t walk again and is pretty much in the same condition as brian in this (even tho it’s fake) and we have to help him at all times. anyways my dog is back on his same meds and hopefully he’ll come back around- don’t want him living in pain either though. he’s meant to have another 10 years left :(

    Suddenly remembered our dog. Same white and also already had a cataract in his eyes due to being old. We actually have the CCTV footage of him dying peaceful. Just went to sleep in his favorite spot after saying his goodbyes after we went out in the morning for groceries. After we got back home, we thought he was just sleeping and just waiting in the entrance guarding the house but he was already unresponsive. He did what he always do till the end.

    That hits home. My aunties dog basically lost the ability to walk and since she doesn't have a car I had to drive from a different town to pick her and the dog up, drive back to my town because the vet there was like 5 times cheaper(she's not heartless she just would not be be able to afford food if she went to a local one) then she went to work and I drove the put to sleep dog with my father 30 more kilometers to dig a hole on another family members property so we could burry her. A solid 8 hours while at the same time we also had lives we had to live. But it was worth it, now our little girl rests in a nice spot on a hill with some young trees planted on top.
