The dead bird Brian gave Lois reminds me of something my brother's dog did. There was a dead squirrel in our parent's front yard that had been there for at least a month. When he came to visit he brought her with him and she was roaming around exploring the lawn. She found the squirrel and with no shame or worry picked it up in her mouth and strolled over to where we were standing. No happiness or excitement at all, just a dog doing a dog thing.

As disgusting as it is to the average human, your pet will bring you dead animals because it thinks you'd be happy that they killed them for you. So if you have a cat or a dog, maybe at least pretend to be happy? Then just dispose of it when they're not looking. They won't notice.
