Part Three of my look at the 2008 James Bond film Quantum of Solace.
Initially this project was done several years ago and I wasn't able to post it on my CZcams channel. After going back and doing some re-editing, cutting and tweaking of it to make it acceptable to CZcams it's finally made its way to my channel - at least for now.
Quantum of Solace Part One - • The Craig Reconstructi...
Quantum of Solace Part Two - • The Craig Reconstructi...
Quantum of Solace Part Four - • The Craig Reconstructi...
All my missing Bond projects that I've done that have been removed from CZcams are available to watch on my website:

I always took that last moment with Mathis as Bond trying to be humorous. He knows Mathis is dying so he tries to soften his passing by trying from It. Is it a bit awkward? Maybe but it feels as if Bond feels something for Mathis, maybe something akin to friendship and this is later proven by the fact that when kills the General that betrayed Mathis he tells him: "You and I had a mutual friend" this line demonstrates he was avenging Mathis. So when this person whom Bond views as some sort of friend is dying in his arms and he says that line it shows that he doesn't really know what to do and simply says whatever anything that comes to mind. Honestly this whole film has Bond coping with guilt. Guilt from the death of Vespa, then Mathis and heck even Fields it seems. And every time it shows him not knowing how to react or cope with it.
And him throwing Mathis body in the dumpster further proves this. He feels guilt and doesn't know how to cope. He wants to be cold and heartless in an attempt to not care and hopefully not feel guilty but it doesn't seem to work bc when Camille calls him out he tried to justify himself by saying: "He wouldn't care".

I’ve actually listened to your Craig era Bond deconstructions multiple times, and I never get tired of them. Very tightly written and thought out.

I did a write a up about Spectre after first seeing it. I'm going to wait on a video project of it to see how they follow it up. In the meantime, hopefully I can find the time to do some other Bond-related projects.

I actually had deja vu with Quantum of Solace' storyline. This whole plot of holding water supply for ransom was borrowed from an episode of James Bond Jr.

I just spent most of last night watching these excellent videos. You have said just about everything that I think about this Bond film. Thanks. I remember coming out of the cinema at the time and thinking ‘what the hell was that all about?’. Too confused and confusing to be an enjoyable experience - not that that stops me watching it again.

My opinion is that a perfect Bond film has never been made, and they will keep trying until they have the right Bond, right Bond girls, right baddies, right music, and right plot at the best possible length, without being too long or too short. And most importantly, right editing.

The most frustrating thing is that a lot of the stunts and some of the original footage/photography is quite cool. If they didn't use shaky cam and stuck to those wider shots that Foster CLEARLY knew could be effective, the action would be thrilling. Usually shaky cam and quick cuts can be used to hide poor stunt work or make something dull more exciting. In Quantum, the editing makes something exciting completely baffling. The editing is actually shameful. Shameful!

The hook/anchor is ridiculous. I've watched it dozens of times and still don't get it. Whose hook/anchor was it? It looked more like Bond threw his own boat's anchor into the other boat. If it was the other boat's anchor, how did it end up in Bond's boat? Something that heavy would just fall overboard, rope and all and land in a convenient position in another boat? And Bond threw it into the other boat. Even if he'd thrown it into the water, there wasn't enough time for it to sink to the bottom and get dragged along until eventually catching on something to stop the bad guy's boat cold. If it popped the bad guy's boat, as one commenter said here, why did the boat suddenly go vertical so abruptly? But that's as good an explanation as any.
