I went down on my ‘80 Goldwing in September. It flipped front over back 3 times, and then slid 2 blocks down the road afterwards. I picked it up and it cranked right up. I said ya can’t kill a Goldwing. After the police accident reports and medical evaluation with the ems I rode it home before the adrenaline wore off and I actually felt the pain.
I think Honda should use this experience of yours in their advertisements. You’ve just proven that the Gold Wing can’t be killed. I counted 12 flips down that hill and with one replacement part it started almost instantly. That’s amazing!! Equally amazing is how you made it to the top of that hill! Not anyone can take a 900 pound bike up a hill like that, especially after such an epic fall.
I am blown away that the handlebars were still connected, the forks were even close to straight, that the wheels weren't buckled, the heads hadn't been ripped off, the exhausts were still attached and the panniers somehow still exist...and then it started?!? New found respect for the Goldwing.
I never thought I would be so emotionally invested in a freaking ‘Wing. This channel is grass roots. Don’t let the blow up go to your head if it happens
Bro you off-road that armchair like a boss, this has actually impressed me that the bike has held up to that hats off to honda and to you for proving it man 👍
PIGGY LIVES AGAIN 🙌🙌 super stoked you were able to get the wing extracted, very impressive how it started right back up and took you out even with no shifter, that was mental! Looking forward to seeing what’s next!
Have mercy, this has been awesome! I'm happy this has been getting a lot of deserved attention. A lot of articles written about this. This appeals to me on many levels. I'm a mechanical type of dude. Seeing how the Goldwing survives this beating mechanically is interesting. Seeing the off road capability is interesting. My father when he was in his early 70s claimed his FJR1300 had some offroad capabilities and I kind of blew him off on this. I didn't doubt it, but thought a bike like this would drop a lot of parts offroad. I tried 1 time on a cruiser and it didn't go well at all. This also just adds to the legend of the Goldwing! Not interested in one at this time...but know that someday when I'm even older than what I am..I'll have to give in. Now one can have more respect as an old man on a Goldwing! Of course a big part of that is my lack of skills....I currently ride a KTM 1190 Adventure R. Yours skills on the Goldwing exceed me on my KTM....And on that note...DUDE..YOU can ride!!! Speaking as a guy in my 6th decade...I truly miss the fearlessness of my youth! Mr. Spears...you have cojones!
I think you should do some major weight reduction and make it like an adventure bike. That thing sounds awesome hill climbing and performs surprisingly insanely well offroad, i think it could make a neat video and a fun machine
Great videos, i had the same year and color. It got launched off of a 400 ft cliff, i lost it in a corner, low sided got run over by a pickup truck, next i got life flighted out to a regional trauma center. Lots of prayer and Gods good grace i got sent out of the Med center same day. 17 broken bones but I’m still riding. Love seeing your crazy stuff. Keep it up.
I agree, I was completely devastated when I thought the wing was dead. Emotionally I'm not ready for it. There is to much more to do yet!! Long live the wing! I ride a 127 ci harley and ide love to ride along this gem someday. Would be a honor man!
For the third time I can't believe what I just watched. That frame and engine has gotta be one of the best designs of all time. Riding, mechanical, movie making; you've got it all.
That's nothing but impressive! I may or may not have taken my GV1400 Cavalcade (Goldwing but Suzuki made from the 80's) off roading by accident with no way back, literally 4-5 inches of mud & gravel for 5 miles; loaded with luggage and a passenger. *That* was scary but I can't even begin to imagine a GL1800 on such a steep hill & holding it pinned WOT. Drive safe mate, you've got some mad skills
Owner of an '84 Wing here - what an absolutely stunning illustration of the strength of these old bikes. Sadly the new Wings are nowhere near as reliable. And yours was totalled before you even got it? "What is dead cannot die."
I've just got into your channel from a Instagram reel of you doing this climb. I'm SOO excited to see where this goes!!! Please rebuild this or use it as a donor for another! 😢🎉
The Mad Max patina you've created on that thing is beautiful. Fix the mechanicals, but the esthetics are fantastic. maybe add a couple saw blades and some barbed wire... Excellent work! That GL has had more fun than any other ever made...
I have often looked at hill climes while riding my gl1800 and thought I could make it up that but left the hill climes to my KTM 450 exc thanks for showing just how tough the wings are and satisfying my quirosity I think I'll keep mine on the asphalt, Great vidio.
Matt, i cannot believe the wing fired up like it was in the garage. The look in your face was priceless, it was probably the same look i had on my face 🤣. Your single-handedly the best promoter of the goldwing. I was deciding between the wing and the bmw. Bought the bmw, but now that i see you can off road with the gold wing I’m rethinking my decision 🫣. The Wing is an incredible machine but i had no idea it was indestructible. Great video!! Look forward to the next episode. Have a great day!
I have ridden goldwings for years, along with many other motorcycles. I have a whole new respect for them. It is incredible that it is still running! You are one impressive rider too!
Bro i just subscribed to you a couple weeks ago. You have to get the wing going again PLEEZZZZZZ! IM a Goldwing owner of that exact bike, even the color. So you taught me that these wings are dam near undestructible! Its hard to watch you train wreck this beautiful bike but it is funny stuff!! Good luck on getting her going and out of there.
Just wow 😮, I knew these things were capable but that is just next level, I'll be honest, I live on a dirt road and it upsets me that mine gets dirty, after seeing this, im not so worried now, long live the GL1800 👍
You have best content...I'm 51 avid motorcyclist and mechanic all life. Heavy experience. And all things sick...I just found channel last week and became addicted and tell all my friends to sub , love piggy what a crazed bike.....have one a Lil older in garage..w 750 4 chopper and an Indian chief also a shadow v65 my favorite...and a duc monster 900.for wheelies . Love you... hope for a generation!!! Ruber side down ..control side up. Stay safe...await a video like a 150mile ride on a sunny Sat morn!
Got to tell you Matt that was some riding skill, and I was so impressed with the Wing, what a machine, really enjoying your videos. Be nice to see when the wing is back to her former glory.
Wow, y'all are amazing! Honestly the best thing on CZcams, Netflix you name it, I've been captivated by this story for the past two hours and can't speak highly enough of your resolve and engineerity and thank the motorcycle gods Piggy lives! Truly appreciate everyone who threw down to get her out of there, hat tip to all of you! Be safe enough, thank you for sharing the epic ledgands and much love to all of you. BTW I have so many 1975 goldwing gifts for you if your ever in 805 SLO CA.
Living proof that a honda will still run even after it cartwheeled down a dirt hill. Mad respect to you getting it back up and home!
Piggy is a tank!
Thats RIGHT-! A BIG EFFIN' TANK~!! 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂

Yeah I couldn't believe the bike mostly survived. Piggy is ready for more adventures
I never thought I would be so emotionally invested in a freaking ‘Wing. This channel is grass roots. Don’t let the blow up go to your head if it happens
It can't happen though lol. Will be a sad day for real haha
Great video
The sequel is even better than the original. I hope you get to show these videos to your kids someday. ABSOLUTE CLASSIC!!! Maybe the best on CZcams
Best on CZcams?

Piggy is the MVP. More to come
Never doubted you would go back and get the wing out. I didn't expect you to be able to ride it though. Impressive machine.
Mind blown! More canfield rides to come!

For real though, he’s so underrated
His videos have been great for sure man!

I am a GOLDWING rider and I am so impressed in this video and the bike. Honda GW takes a beating and keeps. On ticking.

These last 2 videos are absolutely epic. Gave you 0% chance to get that up the Hill unbelievable.❤😂😂😂 Well done boys...

I did not expect to see that bike move from that spot ever again
Respect to the people who put that bike together on the production line

I think that performance is 80 percent rider!
@robertfury295 no doubt, but if that thing had some weight reduction and better bars it would be way easier to ride

I've been looking for a comfortable dirtbike. I think I've just discovered it. Dude, that was hilarious to watch.
Worlds heaviest dirtbike
As a goldwing owner i feel proud. Well played my man

I thought I wanted a new one. Now I'm looking for a GL1500. More fun, less worry, and a 90% discount!
That was very impressive and this kid is a great rider.
His positive and Can Do attitude makes the videos that much better. Keep sending it man 🤘🤘
I love Matt's energy and all around good vibe. Dude, your authentic excitement is fun to watch. Feeling the joy, bud. Keep up the fun!
Dude! You should DEFINITELY have a Honda sponsorship! And if there's a prize for best CZcams video, you positively deserve it!

New wings are impossible to work on. If that was a new wing some BS sensor buried in the frame would have had him stranded

Dude, this is THE best Honda Goldwing series, EVER. You've proven the Goldwing is THE best bike on the planet, ever made.
Dude i spent so much time on the back of a goldwing as a kid. I love these videos
Back seat is more comfortable than the drivers seat!!!
@@MattSpears and oddly enough there's cargo space to haul a whole other motorcycle? What a back seat indeed. Wings are the best.
Yall definitely need to put a set of bars on it and finish stripping the fairings off and just run it fully naked
Im fully invested in the wing saga
Love your videos Matt! Especially the Wing ones, much respect for ya man!
