I have one of the very first JP6 models and I can say that it is a really badass guitar. More than that I had the privilege of having my JP6 guitar signed by John Petrucci himself last year.
This is the best EBMM JP, IMO. I don't care about any of the JPX models, and I DEFINITELY can't stand the Majesty. The original JP6 and JP7, though, are absolutely perfect.
+Jeff Kastner If anything, the only one I've liked since the JPX is the JP16 since it brought back the forearm contour, but it's still not my thing because of the overall shape.
Blu Oh man.. I'm mad about the JP16. Ha. The Music Man tremolo is the best out there and I'm just not a Floyd Rose fan... and no Piezo?! In any case, I'm a JP15 owner but love the JP6/7 too.
"the forearm groove is something that has been made especially for me, no one in the world can have this except me. it was made by the friction of my arm on the body creating heat somewhere in the region of that found in the core of the sun."
and 6 years later since its release in brazil, im still saving up for a jp7 of this era, the absolute god of guitars, the best and most comfy guitar ive ever played.
i seriously might sell my Gibson SG Standard and get the red JP6 that's selling right now in my area! I wanted to buy it from the start, but it was a bit of my range and i've made the wrong chose not to pay those extra few hundreds to get it. I hope i get a second chance!

Acabo de comprar una JP6 Standard y la verdad ha sido la mejor compra de mi vida, el tono es increible y la combinación entre el piezo y la pastillas magnéticas es simplemente increíble, greetings for all Jp's users!!!
Man these guitars are so hard to find now. Especially the fully loaded mystic dream ones. I recently found a 2018 mystic dream jp7 brand new in my local music store. I traded my 2014 jp6 fully loaded mystic dream guitar for it. 2 days later I made a mistake trading the original jp6 for it so I went back to the store and paid the trade in value that I got for it. Now I have two mystic dream jp guitars. One in 6 string and the other 7. I just need that majesty 8 now!
+ANDYB1478 the proper pronunciation is pee-AY-zo or P.A. Zo - It's a funny word though, eh? I've never see a word that more people pronounce so differently.
I've this set of pups still in plastic. Not sure what to put them in. Came as a fix from a GC sale gone south. Their thanks to me ...I may use a trade collateral. Hahaha
gah JP always has amazing voicings and chord progressions. My technique and speed is about as efficient and fast as it can be, but i have yet to be able to work that well with chords. the day will come though! badass guitar, my personal favorite of the bunch with the majesty close behind
That riff that he plays at the beginning, and again at 2:49 - is he just playing something 'off the cuff'? Or is that actually a Dream Theatre song? I'm not a Dream Theatre fan so I wasn't sure, but it's a great riff
Is there a demo of the whammy bar or, tremolo system of this guitar? I can't seem to find any and I'm trying to compare it to a Floyd Rose tremolo. Any help Is appreciated.
As far as I'm aware, they are very good bridges which hold tuning very well. John has used them for years so if it's good enough for him, it surely must be good enough for us!
Marco Severini JP60 is a Sterling not a Musicman. They’re like Epiphone to Gibson, or maybe Squier to Fender, you get the point. It’s made to be the affordable JP. EBMM JP6 is around 2.5K USD new.
It's my worst sounding guitar (I have a fair few) for rock and blues, but then it's a metal guitar. It sounds kind of sterile through more vintage fender and marshall tones, but pretty tight through hi-gain distortion. So I'd say - no. But it plays great.
Have not tried one of these yet but every music man guitar I have played were very consistent in playability (the necks) I am wondering if the color is purple or blue Thanks for the Demo c];-D
+Daniel Bonilla Yah now that you mention it I see in the video I thought he was changing guitars some how in the video lol wow thats outrageous thanks for the heads up on that Daniel. c];-D
one of my biggest guitar heros! but why on earth would you demo a gear to show it to every to show how good it sounds and just drown it out with a whole bunk of effects turned up wayy to high. if you want to demo and show case a guitar just plug straight into an amp and be done. we are hear to hear the guitar not effects. sorry John but it had to be said.
Take It Easy - I'm Easily Offended Not on this model, they are passive on all of his models up to the JP12...active on the JP13, JP15, JP16 and the Majesty models.
Dan Hall Actually there are passive pickups on all models. The only thing different about jp 13, 15, 16 and the majesty is that it has an active preamp.
Markus Gamborg You are correct about the pickups themselves being classified as "Passive", as I know of some people who have used the DiMarzio Illuminator, Sonic Ecstasy, and the Transition pickups, all of which come stock on Music Man JP13/JP15/JP16/Majesty and Luke III models respectively, with the active preamps, without running them through a preamp and getting excellent results. Still, unless the guitar is rewired to eliminate the active preamp, the guitars themselves would be considered to have active electronics. It's too bad, because on paper, I've also always really liked the Music Man Luke models, in terms of the woods used, the asthetics, and dimensions and all that stuff, but I don't like guitars with active electronics or guitars that mix single coil pickups and humbuckers together. When Music Man released the Luke III, I was excited to see that instead of it being HSS with EMGs, it was HH with DiMarzios, but then, I read about the active preamp, and was totally put off.
my guitar is just like my wife, i use to touch it , i familier with it, i regularly enjoy with it. I do not see any reason to change another one sofar. So other great guitars seem to me like other nice and sexy ladies , i like them but dont want to try to get them. I think, once i have a habbit following my wants, that habbit will carry me to make change after change.
I know this has nothing to do with this awesome guitar which I totally WANT!!! LOL- but John, PLEASE shave that awful beard! You are a trend-setter, not a trend follower... it literally looks like those phony beards you buy at the Halloween store. I am NOT trying to talk shit, I promise. I am a total fan of his guitar playing!
Jesterday74 Who helps you with your sentence structures? You must be ESL...as nobody with a firm grasp of the English language would call JP a "crappy guitarist". I'm not saying that he's going to be everyone's favourite, but even if you hate everything about him, it's still asinine to label him as a "crappy guitarist".

I had a small issue once with the jack and they immediately shipped me a replacement and were super responsive. I've had nothing but great experiences with them!!
His voice is almost as soothing as his playing
If he talked like that riff sounded it would be like "theernieballmusicmanjp6istheveryfirstsignatureguitaridevelopedwithmusicman."
Great guitar worth every penny.
I have one of the very first JP6 models and I can say that it is a really badass guitar. More than that I had the privilege of having my JP6 guitar signed by John Petrucci himself last year.
The original JP6 is still my favorite of all the JP models
This is the best EBMM JP, IMO. I don't care about any of the JPX models, and I DEFINITELY can't stand the Majesty.
The original JP6 and JP7, though, are absolutely perfect.
+Blu JP15?
+Jeff Kastner
Nope. Don't like the pointier, slicker look. I prefer the fatter look of the originals.
Blu Right on.. just curious why you left those out since they're so similar.
+Jeff Kastner

Wow really innovative love the acoustic sound!
Yeah!
Man... based strictly on the sound-clip, here, that has to be the MOST acoustic-sounding piezo I've ever heard!
Good job Ernie Ball!
Doesn't talk about the changing colour
Seba Zabala it's been a staple of his since he started up with Ernie Ball, hence why he doesn't mention it. It's called Mystic Dream.

It plays like a dream...

That thing looks utterly gorgeous. I'm liking these EBMM guys and Schechter lately.
Thanks God I bought one before yesterday!!! \m/
SO in love with the paint scheme.
The best JP ,models ! this combines everything that a guitarist can dream with
Very close to purchasing one of these used. Sweet guitar

Forgot about this. Got a radiance Red 2004 model a few months back, it's beautiful!
Plays like a dream , best guitar ive ever played so far . Nice tone nice detail good job ernie ball all you haters just cant afford this beast ✌🏻️
If i buy an ernie ball music man I'll buy this one first because it isn't super expensive compared to the other models.

The combo of the humbuckers and piezo sounds like a 12-string. Pretty cool.
Dream guitar 😍😍
i have one and love that!
Music Man guitars are so smooth and comfy to play. I wish they made underwear too...
wow push-up bra or something..
Earnie Balls. I mean ...the branding is right for the job.
and the guitar changes color on command!
Nice sir
That guitar also changes color, from green to purple.
That's a Mystichrome or chameleon paint finish you can get at a hardware store.

Epic!
John is slowly becoming Tom Araya. I love it🤘🤘
so the color is purple+blue+green? plureen!
can someone organize an intervention for john? he seems to have a chorus abuse problem...
I think that piezo is pronounced 'p et zo'.
Yes, haha. There's even one (at least) interviene in which the interviewer says it that way, and JP kind of corrects hm by saying "pie-so".
+ANDYB1478 the proper pronunciation is pee-AY-zo or P.A. Zo - It's a funny word though, eh? I've never see a word that more people pronounce so differently.

Yes, like pizza ''pitza''
Bill bee lmfao

I'm pretty sure that's the riff from his side band, Liquid Tension Experiment - Acid Rain. I might be wrong
I wish I could afford at least JP Sterling series
the jp6 sounds, looks, and plays great. my only complaint would be the pickups. its too hi-fi sounding.
change them, kappa.better put some emg's on that and then come back again here.

did you find out what song that was?
Sounds like the calle of khtulu
A little like Hollow Years
It could be a variation
im torn between this or the luke 3 hss
Anyone know the exact price? I looked online and the JP60 is about 600. This is a different guitar right?

Please make a neck through model.
if you see from front it will be green, if you see from right/left side it will be purple 😁
What gauge of string
wayne churchill 0.10 I think
wayne churchill he uses 0.10 to 0.46 ernie ball regular slinky
