- Let’s talk about the starving artist. Where did that term come from? Why does it exist? And more importantly, how can we PREVENT it? In this video, I’m going to share some money saving tips that are designed to help artists be prepared, stay focused on their art, as well as some new services available specifically for artists. Intriguing, no?
By the way, as Link said- If you want to learn how properly clean your brushes check out my video here: • FAAQ - How Do I Clean ... - Jak na to + styl

I save money by recycling my frustration tears and using them to clean my brushes!
Oh my gawwwwdddddd!!! ....hhahahahahahhaha
Seriously, I just want to highlight my favorite one: *BUY IN BULK*.
Here's an example: I use Copic markers.
Individual Copics cost $7 a piece roughly
A 72 pack of Copics cost $370.
Now you may be thinking "WOAH, THAT'S SO EXPENSIVE!
But you gotta do the math: $370 / 72 = about $5
Doesn't look like you're saving too much. But what if you bought each of the 72 markers individually as you needed them?
$7 * 72 = $504
By buying the large pack of markers, you save a whopping *$134* dollars on markers.
*BUY. IN. BULK.*
i like to buy watercolor paints made with honey as a binder and natural vegetable based pigments so i can snack while im workn
n maybe spread some of it on a slim jim who knows
ColoBeans still the pigments ir dye isn t eatable or foodsafe😉
I'm kidding.
Yeah, its diet and gourmet!
For just a second......... I thought you lost your mind. Lol Thank you for the giggle.
Hey Mike I truly like the idea of a jerry's subscription box. It would get jerrys brand products in people's hands. Or do a buy there's and get ours for free promo...like buy liquitex basis acrylic paint tube and get jerry's paint tube free...again it puts jerry's product in the hands of people who might not otherwise try it...they get to compare quality in an apples to apples format. But as far as saving money, I shop clearance first and get what ever else I need at regular or sale price and still use a coupon or discount code.
Sometimes the products left in my basket or on my wish list on amazon are offered to me with a great deal that is hard to turn down. 😉😉
It makes me so upset that this channel doesn't get more attention, you guys are hilarious!
It is painful to see these amazing sales at Jerrys and knowing, as a Canadian, that you have to add 100% on top of the sale for shipping. We don't have a really great art supply store here that offers such consistent low prices even given the exchange rate, but then add the shipping on top and it's just not worth it.
Yeah, buying anything outside of your own country makes you go from "this is so affordable!" to "ehh...."
Try Curry's Artist's Supplies online.
Curry's is Canadian. They offer free shipping on orders over $75 to most locations in Canada, with fast delivery. Lots of sales, huge selection of art supplies, popular brands, artist's forum. I've been buying from them for eons.
It is a little less price saving and more pay it forward, but share your stuff. All my long time friends are artists, and especially when we visit each other we dip into each others' stashes or bring our recent favorites to share.
I love getting something I think is cool and sharing the love; and naturally I get to demo the things they love without comitting to a purchase.
Oh how fun! It's great when you have a community that is so willing to share! 😀
Mike: Now that was a great April's Fool joke, ha, ha!!
I go to hobby lobby and buy the biggest Gamsol bottle they have and use their 40% off coupon. Basically cuts the cost in half.
If you are buying art boards, buy a couple large boards and cut them down to the size you want! Also, Fingers are a great way to apply paint!
That Mountain House stuff is actually pretty good!
I buy watercolor paints in sets if the sets contain colors I use often. Sometimes, the end result is that I save money. I use watercolor paper often and used to buy full sheets until I moved to a new apartment that did not have room to put a full sheet either on a table or on the super clean floor in order to mark it off to make sure I tear it straight. It's more convenient to buy in tablets or blocks.
If I buy a block of some brand of watercolor paper that is on sale and use one sheet of it and end up not liking it, does that mean I wasted my money?
Love your prices! But, there have been a few times where I actually saved myself time and money by having a "live chat" with a Jerry's rep. Saved me trial and error time, and supply waste. p.s. Food bucket was funny...
haha, awesome. loved it
Two words: Student discount.
*grins* =)
Happy April.
i would buy the food bucket
In England we don't call them BOGO but Bog Of(f). Has double meaning so surprised you didn't know it. 😃
It's March 31st 🤓
I go to the various supermarkets and try out all the free samples yum yum and then I don't have to buy dinner :) and I can buy paints and important art things instead :) it's a gambit, ping!
disclaimer: do not art and eat at the same time
You discussed food in front of your skinny friend? Really? P.S. - The sundress is not her best look.
I know right? How rude? She's practically just a pile of bones next to him. She's probably starving!
"Take care of your supplies" Yes, then throw them across the room!
lol!
Funny. Haha. Happy April Fool's day.
“It’s the ho that screws you every time” BOGOHO 🤣 He’s so halarious
A day early?

I'd love to not be "Starving Artist"....so, uhhh hey world...purchase my work!!! :D
