About Cecilia:
Cecilia Blomdahl is originally from Sweden and moved to Svalbard 6 years ago. She works as a photographer and videographer in Longyearbyen, and with her social media channels. Check her out on tiktok and instagram! Here on youtube she posts videos about her daily life in her cabin with her boyfriend Christoffer and her dog Grim, living just outside of Longyearbyen. Subscribe for videos about her daily life as well as adventures on an island close to the North Pole. They have polar bears there!
I really hope someone sees your channel who would want to produce a full, big-screen documentary with you. I think I've said this before but I'll say it again. Cecelia's videos are consistently outstanding. The storytelling, videography, music, editing and narration are really exceptional beyond this platform. What could be mundane and finite in content is transformed into engaging short-form stories with the qualities I mentioned previously, of fully cinematic caliber. Huge fan from the first day I was fortunate enough to stumble upon Cecelia's channel.
I agree. Sheâs fascinating.
Her content is authentic and compelling and I think the social media play will yield the most success. Sheâs putting in the work, it will payoff for her and her Svalbard family.
You go, Cecilia!
Or even make a movie about her
Or make a movie about Grim!

100% agree !!!! Outstanding quality đ
This is what CZcams was created for. Not the meaningless drama that plagues the platform.
What's the basis for that statement? Were you a founding member of CZcams? An opinion stated as if it's a fact. You've mastered a skill that takes many years of practice because no one is born an ass hole.
True đđđ

I've lived a part of my life in a semi remote cottage in Ireland, no running hot water ,no real wifi coverage, one pane glass windows ,only wood ,coal and turf for heat . 899 days to be exact . Closest proper shop 16 kms away. Loved it beyond words. No bus service, I have no car for the last 5 years ,only a bicycle. Loved each day ,

Interisting life. I love it. đ
People seem to forget that there was a time when people lived off the land they didn't have a supermarket around the corner no hospitals and women was giving birth to 5 to 10 children this is just going back in time
I lived in conditions like that in the modern US - itâs called being a broke hippie
Thats beautiful! God Bless you. I want to know more.
I have found that you can live nearly anywhere if it is with the right people. Getting those people together and helping them cocreate something valuable and staying is the task.
Unlike the Inuits, I don't think it's possible without a supply chain.
Beautifully said.
YEA RICH PEOPLE
Like someone else stated, you have to be rich.
@@Cardiakk All kinds of people live on remote cottages, small houses outside rural villages, etc. Hundreds of thousands in Europe alone. You absolutely don't have to be rich. You just have not to want BS
As someone who lives in Florida and is currently suffering from the heat (currently around 48.8 C), this is incredibly fascinating! Iâm going to rewatch and show my kids. Theyâd love to see this.
Being from northern Norway myself, above the polar circle, but certainly not as extreme as Svalbard, I know these places can be good, but you need a purpose for being there, a job, family, good friends, hobbies etc. something, like if you love snowmobiling ... Living alone with not much to do during the long cold and dark winters, most people will be much better off other places.
You also need a shitton of money.
No thanks
Right like going shopping
How do they make money, somewhere is wifi for these videos
I love how the map showing the snowmobile route just cruises right over the water, all casual. Totally normal. Nice
Once i'm done with my environmental science degree, i'd absolutely love to live on Svalbard to study the changing arctic. You have a wonderful life
Not sure I'd want to live there permanently but would definitely be interesting to stay for a while
Pack the fire wood. No trees.
Agree. I need the forest! đ„°
@@vonderloo3184 Be hell to play hide-an-seek! lol
@@russellpresley6372 haha yes but I bet the northern lights are amazing. I live in northern Wisconsin, and I have to have sunglasses with all our snow & we have forests. Lol
So, you live in an extremely remote place and for funâŠyou travel to a more isolated placeâŠwith friendsâŠ.
Well, it takes all kinds of people to make the world go around! It sounds like you truly enjoy your life! đ
I thought the same thing! As we left the town and the cabin was 70 km I think, I thought; why?
Enjoy life
I explored and was going to move further remote. Iâm from London & love cities. I love the two extremes. Remote places mean itâs not safe to be alone. The city is more lonely. My health made the decision for me.
Not small town, where you have to have been born there, but moors and forests and avalanches of snow. Or my dangerous, broken inner city. Urbex or barren wilderness. Wolves or guns. I love people, I love experience, I love rugged beauty.
This is hilarious.
My friends have all moved away or died.
Thank you for sharing this. If my dog could take this type of climate I would live in a place like that. What I appreciate most is the authenticity of the lifestyle you get to live . Now days we area all caught up in a fast convenient life. Watching this makes me realize I am not the only one seeking a simple lifestyleâŠ.
Lived in a small Midwestern town for many years. Drove home some weekends. Simple and homey, I loved it. Anyone from 1942 would have felt quite at home. Always a pot on the stove ready for tea. Coming home one night, I stopped and helped catch an errant neighborhood dog.
Your program was great.
The cold and snow has never appealed to me but the beauty of this place is undeniable.
If it's above -40 you can work or just move around and it isn't cold anymore. Colder than that is when you get in trouble.
Agreed with Harry
Ditto I can't handle the cold no matter how I rug up. 10c is cold enough for me I like being outdoors and I like the sun warming up my body. To each there own of course.
Cold and snow is what I thrive in. Can't do the heat
@@heathenwolf4997 same
The lavender sky and mountains in the morning... Just... WOW! There are things in this world that photographs and videos can't do justice.

I really would love to life there too (although I'm 64)!!! I always loved snow, I also love the dark (but with lights inside). So, yeah, I would love it very much.
Thanks for sharing your life with us, sweet Cecilia, Christoffer and Grim. Huge hugs from Pinkie
I love the idea of Hytte Tur, I canât think of anything better than heading out for the weekend with friends to focus on having a good time!
You donât have to convince me girl. It looks fantasticâŠmajestic. I love mountains and snow and small villages full of happy people. I get it. I would move there in a heartbeat.
I too đ
The question is - are they friendly? Norway was rated one of the most unfriendliest cities by expats - if you're not from there, it's hard to break in. Have to know someone.
Yeah right and I have some land to sell you in Florida đ€Șđđ€Ł
@@LisaSoulLevelHealing Norway is not a city. And due to the Treaty of Svalbard, citizens of 50 countries can live on Svalbard visa-free. Itâs probably one of the most cosmopolitan places you could live. Add to that you HAVE to be able to depend on one another, I donât think national stereotypes would be a worry.
Cecilia, this is one of my favorite posts on your vlog. Such dramatic beauty and great friends. I love how uncluttered your lives are. And, I canât get enough of Grim and Fenris. Be well.
Thank youuu!
@@CeciliaBlomdahl I am thinking the same way. I felt like I was watching a movie. Great editing!
Really nice to see people hanging out at such a remote place. In military, I was at 69 degree north, one of the northernmost military bases there is. Longyearbyen is way north of that, located at 78 degree north.
After a very cold winter with lots of nights outdoor, two guys in my platoon wanted me to join them on a one week ski trip on Svalbard. I declined, finally we had week off after a really cold winter. My buddies went, I think my warm days in Oslo was better at the time, but yeah, in retrospect I should gone to Svalbard, but having one more week sleeping outdoor in Arctic winter was not easy to do.
Far more pleasant staying at a cabin, than sleeping in a tent with polar bears lurking around. BTW, there are more polar bears than people on Svalbard.
I honestly want to move here from Australia. It is so vast, wild and beautiful. You are so lucky to call Svalbard home đâ€
I live in Alaska - it's not quite as remote as this, but my biggest reason for selling everything and moving here is privacy, solitude, colder climate, natural beauty.
I had to be close to civilization for work..
But, the long term goal is to buy remote land further north - build an offgrid home, and work only 6 months out of the year.
Living in the slow lane is something that's hard to explain. But i feel it's the way humans were meant to live when you're in the thick of it.
Between my fascination with polar climates and my tendency towards introversion, I think Svalbard looks like heaven. Thank you for sharing your wonderful world!
This sounds like me!
Itâs actually one of the few places you can move to without any citizenship or visa en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_policy_of_Svalbard
You need a visa to get in and one to get out but not one to stay there or work there
It must be a pure blessing! âïž

You know, it does look like a dream... such spectacular scenery. I even remembered my childhood up to the smallest details when we had lots of snow back then. Those landscapes look unreal and out of this world, it must be a pleasure to have a cabin off the planet)
It's a fascinating story of Northern life. Furthest North I've lived is inland 60th parallel. That was my Canadian duty!
I think we lived there during record cold winters. Bugs, monster horseflies and mosquitoes in summer!
The next was West Coastal 54th parallel, Ton's of snow, lots of bugs in summer. Abd lots of rainy days.
I'm a warm weather person. The fortitude of people in the North is exemplary.
Your videos relax me so much and put life into perspective. Keep up the great work. â„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïž

I discovered Svalbard yesterday. I had no idea this place existed. I wanted to brush up on my geography and came across it. From there I went to CZcams to see if anyone actually lives there and behold I found you. I am captivated by this beautiful place. I would love to live there even if it was only for a couple of years.
I enjoyed your video 100% tonight and I'll be sticking around to watching more! Thank you!!!
I love your constant appreciation for where you liveđ Your pure Joy is infectious. Bless you for committing yourself to living this life and sharing it with the world
I was awestruck by the intro alone. I'm Canadian, I'm used to cold winters, and something about the far north has always pulled on my soul. I envy you your home there.
As a southern Ontario woman who has been to Nunavut only, I love the community feeling of being remote. Itâs beautiful.
What a magical place and soo beautifully captured by you! Truly spectacular to see the sun go down over these snowy landscapes. Truly amazing!
Iâm part Norwegian, Finnish, and Swedish but was born in Australia the psychology of this place permeates my soul. Sadly not many here understand what I go thru. â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž!

Don't worry about the "could" part I'll just tell you, You Can't!!
It's not as cold as you'd think. A tentacle of the Gulf Stream goes up that way. Snow, dark/light issues, no trees and polar bears are the main drawbacks. But there are drawbacks everywhere.
Agreed. Your film making is impeccable! I love how these videos make us so relatable. On the other side of the world, yet weâre all the same, just living in different parts of the world!

I love your videos. Yes, I understand why you live there. Itâs incredibly beautiful and I feel the sense of community. Thanks for sharing your life.
I love how the weather actually brings people together in a way you don't get in more 'normal' climate. Don't know if Danish words are used there but hygge is what came to mind watching you hanging out with your friends over coffee!

The internet is truly a gift that my children's generation grew up with, making the world so accessible. Iâm from South East Asia and I love winter. I hate the humidity I have to adjust to whenever I visit my birth country. For me winter is nicer considering there is less to no bugs, you feel toasty with many layers and people tend to be more snuggly
I live in a tropical country, so seeing the northern lights has been on my bucket list for the longest time. Iâve had an eye on going to Svalbard because of that, since most other options would require a tedious process to get a visa, with no guarantee that it wonât just be denied.
