Youtube drama, cancellations and demonetization cancel culture

- CZcams has a history of cancelling creators or demonetizing them over political views. The most recent was Russell Brand. However, now the powers that be are going after travel channels that are not political showing cultures that CZcams deems inappropriate or not advertiser friendly. I feel that they should simply let the fans decide what they want to watch and what they do not want to watch without giving in to Cancel Culture. Now they deem Filipino food culture to be shocking and deserving limited reach and limited monetization. Really do not know why the world should not be exposed to the wonderful culture of the Philippines or other countries.

I'm an expat living in the Philippines, and I watched the video you are describing. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that video. That's normal prep for lechon. Western culture likes to hide where the meat comes from in neat tidy cellphone wrapped packages. It's so offensive that CZcams replied to you saying it's disgusting. Who are they to judge.

The problem is these online companies get so big that they start to get corrupted and greedy. Being an entrepreneur, I have seen it with Ebay, Uber and many others. The companies change the rules and keep moving the goal post in their favor. In 2006 me and my cousin Ebay business was shut down because a customer lied about a Xbox console we sold her. We offered to send another one. She wanted a refund. Ebay made us giver her a refund she kept the Xbox and they shut us down for an investigation which destroyed they business. I would never have a business that someone else can control. You can put all that work and it can be takened away just because someone in the corporate doesn't like it. It is very dangerous to rely on You tube to fund your life.

The pandemic changed YT and other internet media as we knew it. So many have jumped on the boat of making a living over the internet since. What is baffling, is that now you can see semi naked girls on YT with links onlyfans, AI sexualised slideshows videos, shorts and clickbaits are all over the place. That puzzles me daily.

@@DrLawaytravels I'd say another "new normal", yeah! However, Facebook has been doing for years what YT has been doing recently. Demonetizing, banning channel ( page on FB) out of the blue. For these reasons I feel relieved to have never really invested on YT and FB. Today you have a business, tomorrow you don't know it if you rely on these two big companies. I can't live with that. My condolences to all those who have been hit by the sudden changes. And I can only cross the fingers and hope it will never befall onto me, in a form or another.
Your videos are great!!! Keep up the great work. People are just unreasonably sensitive about some things these days. I will be in The Philippines for several months very soon to enjoy the culture.

Another great video.. Thanks Dr. Laway! The world should be open and free. Unfortunately we live now in a world of cancellation and weak souls. The limitation of reach i can understand a bit. They have probably the obligation to be as sure as they can be that just people with the right age and from certain countries can look at it and make the video only visible when you are logged in.

So many channels that I follow are also setting up on places like Rumble and Locals. This seems like a good move whatever the content of your channel. Some have mentioned that once your subs reach a certain amount you will have youtube looking at your content more closely.
Time for CZcams to have some government oversight. Social media in general needs an overhaul. Contact your representatives in Congress!

Every company has a few petty employees that are so insecure they will go on a power trip, if given the opportunity, to put the hammer down on someone w/o a legit reason. Apparently CZcams has given authority to a few of these petty, immature people who can wipe out someone’s livelihood on a whim w/o care and understanding of the value of their content or real consideration of the mature viewers that bring CZcams so much revenue. it’s obviously the simple opinion of one petty individual w misplaced authority that ends up making such unfair calls. I don’t know how many employees are in charge of screening content but there has to be hundreds- mostly of good or excellent discretion. it only takes a couple bad apples to discredit good content providers. hopefully CZcams screens their own screeners more thoroughly to protect their creators - and their reputation. or creators and viewers will just go to more fair and generous platforms.
CZcams is too busy promoting family VLOG channels which are riddled with child abuse issues to worry about morality.
May I suggest to move to have a back up channel at RUMBLE

I don't know how to say this without consequence but maybe promoting the Philippines as a great place (and it is) is encouraging people to move there and affecting country's income more than we know, money governs everything. I wanted to start a hobby CZcams channel myself at one time but changed my mind. Hang in there mate, I enjoy your work. BTW, I am not a political animal. Cheers

Platform risk. It’s there with Uber too. One fraudulent complaint of drunk driving by rider just wanting a fraudulent refund = driver deactivated with no recourse.
Radical woke left cancel culture. They think ruining people's lives for believing anything they don't approve of or they don't like because, I don't know, they're a male is funny.
I have heard of that with Uber. Uber in US really needs to get some policies that are more driver friendly if they want to keep their workforce/freelancers.

Interesting. I have never heard of a warning message from CZcams about someone commenting on a channel before.
Repost everything on X formerly known as Twitter and all other video streaming platforms that pay content creators a share of the advertising revenue, so when it's not worth the effort to stay on CZcams then you won't have anything to worry about because you'll have two or three other platforms paying you for the same content.

I'm pretty shocked by what you're reporting. If this behavior from Google continues, there will be a very strong backlash. This is the market. The market wants to satisfy needs and the political framework plays no role.
Google thinks they are untouchable, but so did Yahoo until Google came around. Someone else will come and eventually fill that gap.
They can complain like Facebook they have the link that they can send messages to those people working in youtube

I'm an omnivore, as humans tend to be, and while I respect vegetarians and vegans, including their morality, I do not think their morality should be forced on the rest of us. Some of them tend to fail to recognize the obvious reality that humans evolved to eat both meat and plant-based foods. I think the solution to the ethical dilemmas concerning the harvesting of animals for meat will be solved technologically, as artficial meat becomes more enjoyable to eat and cheaper to produce.
BTW, SHOWING people how to escape the tax plantation is THE reason for cancellation. Think about it.
Very good point. It invalidates you being on "the right" or "the left" because the taxes go to pay for each one. I think there is your problem. it is usually the left doing the cancel culture thing, but they will actually slam you hard as possible with both feet (bipartisan?) when you come for them. And by not paying your taxes (or if you figure out an alternative?), no matter which one you agree with, you are public enemy #1 because you represent cutting off their supply of bread and butter.
Also, it could very much be the LGBTQ people throwing their weight around. Like the leftists and feminists, the passport bros represent a HUGE loss of revenue for them too, because if everyone leaves for some other country, the males WILL be happy, and the females will ultimately be unhappy.
If they don't make babies and there is only a tattooed cesspool of purple and green-haired gremlins, they will exit stage left, and many of those purple and green haired demons work at/for youtube and will take it out on you personally.

Hello, thanks for sharing. I don’t have a YT channel, but have been considering starting one sometime. I’m Canadian living in Japan. Considering a move to the PHs in the future. Your experienced with your video on PH culture cooking at a festival makes no sense at all to me.
Woke culture makes no sense. It's a religious cult like belief system.
YT pays best. Rumble's player isn't very good but they stand up for free speech. There are a few other options but I haven't explored them yet.
You highlight part of the problem, yourself. For years you have been silent while being upset about what is happening to other people. All it takes for evil to succeed is for good people to do nothing. If we don't stand up for one another, we all fall eventually because when it is our turn to be targeted, there's nobody left to stand up for us. Thank you for now joining the vocal commentary that illustrates why people should not be relying on a monopoly for their income or publishing. There are alternates.
A cautionary tale indeed. A CZcams channel is not owned by the creator, rather, the Google god has dominion. Depending on someone else to sustain you may not by a viable business plan. I wonder how many creators have read the terms and conditions and licensing agreement.
I've seen creators complain about unexplained decreased review changes from various sources for a long time. Always something different. My opinion is there is a glut in Philippines CZcamsrs and the law of diminishing returns might suggest growth or even stability is unobtainable over a long haul.
The living in a van movement is the same. Eventuallly there is a saturation point.
Rick Steves has a good model. Create a website where your content will be available to different sources and don't film chickens.

I always watched this channel on CZcams he is base in Florida talking about what is going on basically a news channel and he had the same experience never get paid for almost the whole month of September. And so does this gardener I followed. CZcams love to control. Sorry to hear that
Old news. CZcams have always wanted to be a wannabe Goebbels.
I've certainly had it with the far right and far left in the US, being much more of a center-left guy myself, who's a strong supporter of free markets and liberal democracy. However, my impression is that CZcams, and Google more generally, only care about money. I don't think it's ideological, but they do make mistakes in developing algorithms, and their AI makes mistakes when it comes to trying to avoid scaring away advertisers and viewers. Of course, it's bad for them business-wise when popular, monetized channel is cancelled unjustly, as it obviously costs them money. Unfortunately, their approach to content moderation is far from perfect, and is sometimes too risk averse.
According to the left, the Kennedy family is far right. Seriously, I watch a channel where evaluation surveys place him left of center. A classic liberal. The left dismisses him as far far right.
Rumble. That being said what CZcams has done here is just out right racist. They are saying another group of people outside of the US/Europe are disgusting. Totally racist. Now is it because they are of Spanish decent or Asian decent that this is someone ok is the real question.

Always keep your work in a place you control. Gb drives are not that expensive.
I keep all of my content on hard drives as well as cloud back up which is what I would suggest to all content creators. One of my friends unfortunately did not and has no back ups of his vids after they closed the channel.

You need to read between the lines. You're explaining exactly why they're going after travel channels. When YT goes after something its because there will be a ban on that thing that is pushed by higher ups.
CZcams is also responsible for your content.. Try harder to understand their point of view...and make an effort to follow them. Let us know what you discover. Like you said, it's not all about the money.
How ironic, a friend asked me to look at his comments on this video, but it's not visible. He's not pleased that you apparently blocked him and will unsubscribe.
Well he can unsubscribe if wants, but my comment section is open with no restrictions always has been. I do manually go in and delete people pretending to be me asking to send them money but that is it and I do that after the fact. Also if he was blocked he would not be able to see the channel I would think.

Life isn't "fair". They have increased their stranglehold since 2005, and by 2010 they figured they could do whatever they wanted.
Google/Alphabet now in a lawsuit with US government. CZcams is now pay to play, like Ebay. CZcams is going to memberships. CZcams getting over saturated with travel vloggers. You are the rare travel channel with genuine travel subject matter.
Makes you wonder if fellow YT vloggers are reporting your channel to YT HQ trying to damage your channel?, especially the sh.tty vloggers currently in the PH.

This is kinda cool in a way , because I was actually putting together some stuff for my next video on this exact topic.. on what CZcams is doing, a channel a friend of mine his channel was taken down and he doesn’t know why . He had over 400K subscribers, his video’s was getting more than 10k per video. Honestly I think it’s unfair for whatever reason.. anyway I am looking at other options such as rumble .. I hear many people are moving there channels over to other platforms.
That is one of my main complaints is they do not tell the creators what they are doing wrong and keep it vague. Like you I think that is very unfair.

Okay, i watched the video linked at the end of this one. Don't know for sure if it was the one CZcams had a probem with. Nothing there offended me. Made me hungry but not offended. And I wonder what sauce they were using ? Not like the various SE USA BBQ's? I suppose the "woke" may have had a problem with the event's carbon foot print or maybe all the dead pig bodies laying around. And I guess if you are a member of some religions you might have a problem with being there and just breathing the air. But nothing I can guess.
The sauce is much more mild than US southern bbq. The texture of the pork here is much more tender from the cooking method than I have had from Southern pit bbq as well. They also stuff the hog with plants and herbs that give most of the flavor.
So I watched your video. It's what I thought. Pork hahaha. I don't like it. Whoever reviewed it was not professional. Not just letting their personal feelings get involved but being so judgemental about a culture of a people of color.
Btw. You yourself did admit people would find it shocking. Watch 8:00 to 8:10. It's a stretch for them to use that but that's the radical left. Oh and they may identity as animals themselves.
