The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

One of the most talented women in entertainment. She can sing, play guitar and dance.
I agree with you 100%
And speaks six languages, and sings in eleven. 👍😀
I first heard just a recording of her and I thought, “I know she’s a dancer.” And I was right
Entertainers of yore were _triple threats._ but it seems as though Caterina was a centtuple threat.
Yes, in six languages!
She's 4 days older then I am 1/14/31 and I am 1//18/31 I remember seeing on TV back in the late 1950s. I've been a big fan ever since. She speaks six languages and sings in eleven. We are both 92. According to Wiki she is still alive.
Hi to both of you
@@AngeloLuis22 Thanks!
I am blown away! Somehow got to the age of 60 and have never heard of this marvel, Caterina Valente, before!! How lucky to have fallen down a youtube rabbit hole and discovered her! Just WOW. Now listening to everything I can find of hers!
Yes, I had the same experience. She is not as well known in the US as she is in Europe. Absolutely brilliant entertainer.
@@richardkirk5098congrats on your discovery! Enjoy!, :-)
I didn't either till I saw her in a clip with Bill Haley doing "Viva La Rock & Roll". She seems as fast on the guitar as Johnny Ramone...
She is absolutely fabulous. GOD I love her.
What can't this woman do? She's amazing.
Omg how can one person have so many talents! It’s not fair !! 🤣
Wow...where has this talent been hiding? Knocked me out with the killer vocals and guitar. Then when the drummer started hitting the floor, I thought it out of one of those old style movie musicals. And seconds later, she's tapping and dancing all over! And it became old style musical number that just leaves you wowed. No justice she's not better known. And Google just let me know she's still alive in her nineties. BRAVO!
Amazing!
1:12 into the song...and you know that nobody today would be capable of doing it...and she wasn't even finished there. One can only marvel in awe at the creativity of this lady.
what does this woman have that others do not have, Valente is simply the best in showbuisiness, she is unrivaled and always will be, Caterina we love you
What a clear fine voice! Singing, dancing, playing guitar!!❤❤❤
I just discovered her 5 minutes ago and I’m already in love.
Me too...5 mins 😆
Stand in line!
Saaaamee
Well she was a Nazi sympathizer so.... Check again dummies
@@wormgun9586Where did you see this? I can't find anything online except that she married a German during WW2. Is that what you mean?
I was a child and use to see Caterina Valente back then in black and white. Love seeing her in colour. Very talented singer, dancer and plays guitar 👏
What a talent. She could handle anything with ease.
Indeed
Retired but still around at 93.
Showbiz!
Genius. Glorious voice; elegant, inspiring! The very best!
Amazing, multilanguage, multutalent. Global, planetary treasure.
Nice to see her brother, Silvio, tap dancing with her. Too bad he didn't bring his clarinet.
I love the Gibson guitar Caterina plays!! Upon further research it's a Gibson L7C with no electric pickup.. I would say from the 1940's.
Worths some money today!
@@MicroSoftner you bet!
Just phenomenal

The Breeze and I and If Hearts Could Talk are two of my favorites.
Everything about this was Fantastic... the dancing, the singing, and the drum and guitar playing!!
Thank you for sharing! 💖

Es la mejor, Caterina Valente
And still with us🥰
Yes. She shared this video on Facebook today (11-28-2021). That's how I came across it. :)
This is Art with a capital letter. WOW
This lady was born to be a star.
Very very nice!!
Rasartiesten, ook onze Freddy!😀
I always believed she crossed Elvis or may be more then that , never saw such versatile performer .
My God she is awesome 😮
Офигительно😮❤
Спасибо.
❤️
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
She s a big star in her own country Germany.
From what I read, she was born and raised in France, is a French citizen, but born of Italian ancestry. She speaks 6 languages and sings in 11. Quite amazing!
@Bart Van Os - Caterina Valente is Italian and lives in Switzerland for a long time. But she also lived in Germany for a while.
@@michael0.770 - No, she was born in Paris, but she is Italian.
@@chris090282 She married a German and lived in Germany for many years. She was also well-known in the US for a time, for her many appearances with popular US entertainers on TV variety shows in the mid 50s and 60s.
@@lisaa8795 I know.
Another side of black magic ✨ I like so much* utube JOHN BAVAS BLACK COFFEE
Excellent, but hard to dance to...
disappeared 🎸
In the 1960s, Caterina Valente was offered the opportunity to stay in the USA forever and be made the biggest musical star in history, but she refused because she wanted to return to Europe. That was her biggest mistake
Not if she missed Europe.
not a mistake : she was doing the whole universe with her super talent !!
I like her. But this song belongs to Keely Smith.
I agree
She is incredibly talented … no doubt about that.. but a bit too Vegas slick and superficial. The truly great stars are able to express the nuanced emotions that tear your heart out or inspire you to reach for the stars.
Britney Spears and Tommy Lee could've much better than this...don't hate, just love baby.
Britney Spears... much better than this? LOL
