ALCOHOL INK - IT'S NOT JUST FOR PAPER | Alcohol Ink on Metal & Ceramic & Glass

  • Welcome Everyone!
Today I played with my alcohol inks, applying them to ceramic, glass, and metal. I had little to no idea what would come out of it, but I did have fun and learned some things along the way. I think you will really like the ceramic plates decorated with alcohol inks - they are amazing!
I also colored a metal pencil tin and a glass plate. I had some success and some failure, but it was fun. Stay tuned to the end of the video to see the big reveal!!

Hi I loved watching you I do tiles I lightly sprayed alcohol first then drops of colors not so close together and they blend into each other sometimes I let dry in between light spry alcohol giving a different effect. Just playing around like you. At times I will use a sponge with blending sponge and place different colors on it and then dab. For more looks I at times put gold or silver onto the colors and let to do it’s thing. I have had wonderful effects.also I stencil with black acrylic pant using a pouncing technique. 😊😲 wow just playing around I also use different textures on it so many to use. Like a college. Just a few ideas. I never do the same techniques. But really enjoy my time creating beautiful art. I do this on glass, mirrors just on everything once non pore. Even on jewelry pieces. Makes it pop. Keep enjoying what you love doing great escapes. 😊

I’m so grateful your video popped up in my feed because I enjoyed your attitude and your humor so much!! You approach art exactly as I believe we all should….
Just “try anything once and twice if you like it “…(if we can remember because I am certain I am older than you so I can empathize)…
I’m sorry I can’t offer any advice because I just ordered some inks and will try when they arrive.
Honestly, I watched the entire video and honestly enjoyed it.
You definitely gave me ideas to try and “it’s not a big deal “ if I don’t like what I get…I can wipe it off and try a!!
Plus, I won’t remember it after a day or two. Who am I kidding?? I won’t remember by supper time 😂😂😂
You are so creative and talented. I’d love to see your acrylic paintings. Your plates were so amazing!! The clear was SO COOL!!
I’ve been doing oil painting and have also bought all the watercolor “stuff” but it’s completely opposite of what I’m used to doing.
    I’m determined!!!
    Blessings,

Hi Nancy! Your comment was a real treat for me. I think we are a lot the same (and I’m pretty old - let’s just say I grew up with a Formica and chrome kitchen table…LOL) I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and I’m sure you will enjoy playing with alcohol inks. I dabble in a lot of mediums, but I painted in acrylics for 40 some years and now I love doing portraits in graphite, too. Check out my playlists to see all the mediums I’m working in (excelling in…not always.) Art is play and should be joyful even if you call it a fail…otherwise, why do we spend so much money on art supplies? I also have all the watercolor stuff, but coming from acrylics, it’s so totally different that I have trouble letting it “do it’s thing.” Come visit my web site and Instagram if you’d like to see more of my art. And thank you so much for watching! ❤️

You really have to kind of let them do their thing...just play! If you have freezer paper that works well to play on. Yupo paper is fairly expensive. Really, any nonporous surface will work with them.

That looks like so much fun. I love how the plates and the pencil tin turned out. They are all so pretty. I loved watching and the chipmunk was a bonus. Lol so funny. That would be something I would do. 😂. Also, I relate with the watercolors. I paint with acrylics and I am not as skilled with watercolors. I may never be. Lol... Love all of your work. 😊. It is all Beautiful.

    • @SallyVanNuysMixedMediaArtist
      @SallyVanNuysMixedMediaArtist  Před 3 lety

Not recommended! You could try to just do the alcohol ink technique on the back side of a clear glass plate so you can use the normal side for food. If you do that, a clear top coat over the back would be a good idea. Also, only hand wash with a soft cloth and non abrasive detergent.
