The shock of the Phillies comeback hasn't worn off. That 9th inning was nothing short of magical.
And all the hits were crappy hits.

@@2AM_SAM "Magic" innings like that requires both still and luck. There were blunders of course, but the Phillies worked themselves into that position through patience and a solid hit by JT. Then the meltdown began.
@@2AM_SAM momentum shifted to the Phillies after this win. I wouldn’t be surprised if they go on to win by another 3 or 4 tomorrow as long as Nola has a good outing.

The Cardinals ended our era when we they upset us in 2011. It would be poetic if we ended their era by upsetting them 11 years later.

That still hurts. There are like 2 runners in scoring position and Ryan Howard kept on swinging on obvious balls being thrown by Carpenter.He was so obsessed in hitting a homerun that he forgot to take a walk.

as a Chicago native/Cubs fan, I HATE the St. Louis Cardinals, and I'd like to see them lose at home, to me they're the Yankees of the National League.

Those 06-11 players were like legends to the Phillies franchise and brought a lot of winning to that ball club. Phillies have sucked and are well below 500 in their franchise, so they were very valuable players for the fans and franchise.

He was tired. It's the managers fault for not pulling him sooner. 5 outs was too much to ask. He sat down the first 3 he faced (the norm for closers).

@@brandonmcduff I have doubts whether the injury was real. It was awfully convenient timing to stall for the bull pen. I replayed it and couldn't find where he hurt himself.

Even I thought getting five outs to close the game was super ballsy and a lot to ask of him in that spot. I feel like either he shouldn't have come back out for the 9th (I liked seeing him early but they needed a clean 9th for someone else if you're going to use him for 2 outs in the 8th) or they should have waited and just given him the 9th only tbh.

I was expecting them to win when Marmol replaced Gallegos with Helsley. Me and my dad were both screaming at the TV about how horrible of an idea that was. And we were right.
@@OldBenKenobi2318 Should've let Quintana pitch longer. His pitch count was very low and he was rolling. The bullpen could've gotten 6 outs.
@@KTF0 I’m sure Quintana was fuming at the end of that game. They were showing him and you could tell he wasn’t happy. I love Marmol but he definitely messed up with the pitching decisions.
Big innings, small ball play and brazen baserunning, these Phillies are looking a bit different from the regular season. With this energy, hopefully they can make a run for the pennant and more!
Playoff baseball at its finest. A lot of fight shown by the Phillies in that 9th inning...1 win away from the NLDS. You never know what can happen.

WOW! What a game! MLB delivered. I didn't see the "Reallladelph" completely showing up in the 9th...Especially in Red Bird stadium. They came up out of nowhere, with 9th inning heroics, Rocky style, and punched them in the teeth. We'll see what happens tomorrow

1 year ago today and the Cardinals never recovered from this loss. This blown game sent them spiraling into the worst season they’ve had in over two decades, not even coming close to making the playoffs.

I was confused when we got to the 9th and the bases were loaded after the single, I had to look up a game recap. I guess you don’t show walks that’s fine if it’s the 2nd inning and the runner gets stranded but in a situation like this you should just show it. Highlights are supposed to give us a sense of the story of the game and show the most important/dramatic moments, a walk may not be action packed but it’s important to know how we got to bases loaded.
