  • Conistone Dib Yorkshire Dales.Walks in the Yorkshire Dales.
A great high level walk through Yorkshire Dales and great Hike up to the summit of Great Whernside coverdale From Conistone passing Through Conistone Dib with its fantastic views of upper Wharfedale Kilnsey crag .Great Whernside creates a watershed between Wharfedale and Nidderdale and coverdale my vlog is a great day in the hills in the
Yorkshire Dales national park and a circular walk starting from the village of Conistone near Kilnsey cragg and then a hike up on the
Up to whernside pasture and great whernsideand little whernside fringes
    About Conistone Dib.
Conistone Dib was a limestone gorge and is very narrow for walkers to pass through it was once a gorge with water passing through it thousands or maybe millions of years ago.limestone is porous so overtime errosion as worn it down.
The potholes langcliffe pot and providence pot have very simular features.

I'm liking your videos Alan - your upbeat vibe and hey your sense of humor. There was a lot in this one. I especially liked the crumbling limestone. Nothing remains the same! Like you I like the moors to peat bogs and all. Take care. Mark

Gosh, that Conistone Dib is an amazing landscape feature, also one I've never heard of! Great walk again - 4:10 - were those lapwings in the background? I think they prefer farmland, but I'm not an expert. The limekilns made quicklime, which you can use for lime mortar or (in the 18th C.) lime-ash flooring in the house (forbear of concrete screed). Pity about those young men in the caves. They didn't have the luck of the Tham Luang potholers in Thailand (must have been around the same time as you made this film?). They were rescued on 8th - 10th July 2018.

Hiya... yes some lapwings and curlews ,there's always plenty of ground nesting birds up there and it's nice to see.. I agree, coniston dib is amazing,👍its a wonderful way up onto the moors.....I always think about those guys every time I pass that spot, I was only there a few days ago too. Great watch as always Alan, the limestone pavements are amazing. Really sad about the young lads losing their lives in the cave. Just back from Scotland and a bit of a washout lol 2 Munro's but not a view to be had, typical. Atb. Mick.
