NC: "No one wants to f*ck that rabbit" Warner Brothers: "You want to f*ck that rabbit" Internet: "We want to f*ck that rabbit" Me: "Does a pretty cartoon girl rabbit bother NC that much?"
I'm sorry for your mental condition, and I hope that one day medicine may be able to reach a state that is advanced enough to deal with your obviously brutal trauma.
IAmBadatStarcraft That's just his opinion. Some like this and other movies NC dislikes but at least they can respect their opinions. Besides, it's not like he said he likes it and what NC said is total bullshit cuz he has good points. But I still have fond memories of this guilty pleasure. :)
Yeah it’s definitely satirizing it, although it’s still a bit hypocritical given the movie plays product placement straight elsewhere And yes, I know this is seven years late
The funny thing is, despite the movie being inspired by the commercials, Greg Burson, who voiced Bugs in the commercials, didn't voice Bugs in the movie. I guess he thought the plot was stupid too.
Yeah, in retrospect, "Space Jam" is a pretty bad movie and a pale imitation of the original Looney Tunes, but the nostalgia is strong for kids who grew up with it in the 90's. I used to watch it a lot as a kid, and I didn't even like sports at all, I hated them, but the Looney Tunes live-action blend had me sold. I also used to like "Batman Forever" and "Batman & Robin", as well. haha Just imagine how bad the nostalgia will be for kids who have the 2000's and 2010's as their reference point. *shudders*
@Tucker Johnson The new Space Jam sequel makes the original look like a masterpiece. Watched both trailers, and A New Legacy looks like straight-up CGI diarrhea vomit, while the 2D animation has that cheapo Cal-Arts Toon Boom feel that makes it look like it was animated in Flash. While at least the original was hand-drawn cel animation with digital ink and paint with a very professional glossy finish. Plot-wise, the concept was at least charming and unique as well. The new one is literally recycling plots from other movies. Kid trapped inside a simulation and the father has to rescue him? What is this, Tron: Legacy with reversed roles? (which also sucked btw) Ultimately, I still think the original is crap, and have no desire to watch it, but I was right with my original comment: imagine how bad the nostalgia will be for those growing up on the New Legacy version. It's a terrible reference point. Even the original director thinks the sequel sucks. He had to spread out watching it through 5 different sittings just to stomach it.
i think back in action was better than space jam because it had the same humor as the origional cartoons did, you suttle background details and slap stick humor
It may be stupid, but it's a fun movie. Looney Tunes cartoons aren't exactly that clever though, most of their jokes are just cheap jokes of them hitting each other, stupid stuff kids laugh at.
Have you even seen the original Looney tunes?? The recent reincarnations of the looney tunes I would have to say are total shit, but the original is comedy genius in my eyes and will always remain a classic.
Though Space Jam was a crap movie, I still think R. Kelly should've been nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song for the song "I Believe I Can Fly"!
I'm pretty sure Lola was a call out to Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Both movies had the same cartoon meets live action thing going on, and they were both really popular with kids in the 90's. That was the connection I'd always made anyway.
you really cant think too critically about this movie especially since its rounded up with looney toons, cant tell me that show made every bit of sense all the time
I just have to disagree, because Space Jam was one of my favorite movies as a kid! Hell, I even had a Space Jam themed birthday party back in the day! It's what also got me into basketball :-)
Im just saying here that this is a Looney tunes movie the story never makes sense cause again there Looney tunes there crazy cartoon characters that never make sense. Thats the hole porpoise of this movie and all Looney tunes movies, but we don't care about the story cause we love seeing the Looney tunes being all crazy and we love that!!!
I'm surprised the NC calls this movie a long commercial, and not say the same thing about the original ninja turtles cartoon, I mean its the same concept, a clever plot to sell toys, and boy did it worked.
I love the Space Jam of the late 90s and it's a good movie/cartoon. However I prefer a timeless classic Looney Tunes from the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s. What a great childhood I had and even though I'm an adult I still find it as enjoyable and as funny as it can be because the classic Looney Tunes has got adult humour in it while some of them that are still made today were made for kids too.
The modern Alvin and the Chipmunks movies felt to us what Space Jam probably felt like to the people who grew up with the Looney Tunes shorts in the late 40s and early 50s.
I remember the whole looney tunes craze in the mid to late 90s. People were walking around with looney tune T shirts. Not just kids, teenagers. It was crazy.
I'm not a furry, and I think Zootopia is the best animated movie of all time. Not for its furry animals, but for its messages about racism and even drugs, and how well it handles topics like that in a kids movie.
They even made a video game, and what happens? Monstars get no stats while the Loony Toons get MAJOR stats on everything, and Jordan is perfect everything. So why did the Loony Toons need Jordan?
Can we mention the most ungodly and unbelievable thing. The Monstars steal the talent of Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Larry Johnson (when he was healthy), and Mugsy Bogues. Some of the greatest talents in the world, and yet, who did they fill out their final spot with? SHAWN FUCKING BRADLEY
It's an old review, the quality is like this on the official website, the only way to get this in HD is to remake the whole thing with Doug....why actually I wouldn't mind a remake if he covered more of the film since his reviews now are past twenty minutes usually.
I know this movie is not masterpiece material but I did adore this movie when I was a kid since I am a 90s baby and every kid went nuts over it because of the Looney Tunes characters interacting with Michael Jordan. I will give the movie this, the way they combined live-action with animation is pretty impressive even if the Looney Tunes characters are not they're former selves, personality wise. As a young adult looking back on this film, yes, I see the flaws with it, but honestly, I still enjoy it. I guess I can call this film a nostalgic guilty pleasure. One more thing, this film had two kickass songs, one that was fun and one that was uplifting: Welcome to the Space Jam and I Believe I Can Fly. XD
You know, if the Loony Toons put Spike, Mark Antony, Road Runner and Gossamer on the team, they'd win by a mile. Or am I just thinking to deeply into this?
Granny isn't all fun and games, in one old loony tunes cartoon where she's playing grandma from little red riding hood, she punches Sylvester right in the face.
I've never heard of anyone hating this movie. Is this video for real? I understand anyone can hate anything, but this guy is taking everything in an oddly serious way.
This movie is a HUGE part of my childhood. I was like 6-7 years old and watched it on VHS every day. I've seen it about hunders of times. The commercials didn't get to me because I was baffled by seeing this mixture allthogether. It was an effective and amazing film for children and therefore I find it even iconic and therefore I see it as a good movie. It achieved well-being of many children when it came out...
I think the first female was Honey Bunny, but she wasn't used much. I am wondering why Petunia got killed off in their version of "A Christmas Carol"...Porky had a daughter, yet he said his wife had passed on? WHAT?!
So, hang on a minute: if in ad company came to Warner with the idea, and they made a small video to get their idea across, wouldn't that be a commercial for a commercial for a commercial for a commercial? *mind explodes*
"WHO THE FUCK'S LOLA?!" We're in the same boat... "They tried to pull her off some strange sex symbol...which is kind of weird because she's a rabbit." Fuck like rabbits...that is all.
The thing I most remember about this film is how DULL it was for the first 2 acts.... Then suddenly in act 3 it's like wait.... this is Looney Tunes..... REALLY ? WB really needs a clue bat over the heads of the people who run it sometimes....
this movie came out around the time i was six and going to day camps during the summer... you couldn't escape the damn theme song... it was that and barbie girl... the seriously played only those two songs one after the other in a never ending loop
There's a difference between liking a show and obsessing over it to the point where you socialize with other people just because of the label they have.
To answer the question, what were they thinking? I shall answer in the coolest way online. THEY WERE THINKING THAT CHILDREN WERE GOING TO SEE THIS AND GO TO THEIR PARENTS AND SCREAM "MOMMY, DADDY, LETS GO SEE THIS FUNNY MOVIE AND THEN BUY ALL THE TOYS THAT CAME OUT WITH IT!!!" It's a cash sink. Target to kids who like animated cartoons and then have parents spend boat loads of money on it.
Critic: What kind of person gives a cartoon character bunny boobies?
Me: *Slowly closes sketchbook*
They need to make a sequel with Shaq and the Animaniacs playing basketball in Atlantis. THEY CAN CALL IT AQUA JAM!
WHY ARE WE NOT FUNDING THIS?
I heard they are planning a sequel staring LeBron James
No not basketball... KUNG-FU
You mean Shaqua!
SabbyNeko I think you mean Shaqlantis.
Jessica Rabbit and Roger Rabbit, they patty cake all night long.
now it all makes sense!
See, this person gets it.
"I love basketball. Who doesn't?" *raises hand*
*raises hand also*
*also raises hand*
Raise hand
Raises hand
NC: "No one wants to f*ck that rabbit"
Warner Brothers: "You want to f*ck that rabbit"
Internet: "We want to f*ck that rabbit"
Me: "Does a pretty cartoon girl rabbit bother NC that much?"
JamesEDonaldson Me: apparently yes
Honestly - I like the movie.
I'm sorry for your mental condition, and I hope that one day medicine may be able to reach a state that is advanced enough to deal with your obviously brutal trauma.
IAmBadatStarcraft
You really tried to be funny eh ? Now what's the need of you saying that ? None. Why do it to yourself ? You're better than that.
zemixerus Your statement makes little to no sense, so I'm going to go with my original diagnosis.
Good for you. I kinda liked it, but I respect yours and NC's opinion on this.
IAmBadatStarcraft That's just his opinion. Some like this and other movies NC dislikes but at least they can respect their opinions. Besides, it's not like he said he likes it and what NC said is total bullshit cuz he has good points. But I still have fond memories of this guilty pleasure. :)
I never saw the rapid fire brand-dropping as shameless product placement, I actually saw it as a joke.
yeah, it was making fun of the commercials in sports and stuff.
Yeah it’s definitely satirizing it, although it’s still a bit hypocritical given the movie plays product placement straight elsewhere
And yes, I know this is seven years late
The funny thing is, despite the movie being inspired by the commercials, Greg Burson, who voiced Bugs in the commercials, didn't voice Bugs in the movie.
I guess he thought the plot was stupid too.
I would really not fuck a bunny.....now if it was anthropomorphic and looked like Lola...Why the fuck not?
Well, in real life she would be scary as hell since she's a cartoon. Though if we're going by Cool World rules...
I know SEGA wants to fuck bats.
Sergio Escobar I like Rogue tho...
***** not sure if that was an obscure mass effect reference or not. Either way, thanks for reminding me of that game.
Well, you know what they say, a hole is a hole.
This was a fun movie, didn't have to make sense XD
***** something does not have tooo be good tooo be fun.
Fuck you google google hater You're annoying me tooo much by putting three "o"s in "too".
"did you ever find a bunny that you had the hots for?*
*closes FA*

I liked this movie as a kid and still have kind of a soft spot for it as an adult. Must be the nostalgia talking.
Well, I was born in 2000 and my favorite thing from when I was a kid was Roller Coaster Tycoon
The Annihilator Yes, and surprisingly mature in the comments for my age.
The Annihilator Ew.
The Annihilator It's also my thing.

Even the original director thinks the sequel sucks. He had to spread out watching it through 5 different sittings just to stomach it.
I liked Space Jam. It was pretty good and had some interesting moments. However, Loony Toons: Back In Action was absolutely aweful
I have to agree with the NC, Space Jam sucks, and Back in Action was awesome, it blows Shit Jam out of the water.
i think back in action was better than space jam because it had the same humor as the origional cartoons did, you suttle background details and slap stick humor
Does Jessica "Rabbit" count?
It may be stupid, but it's a fun movie. Looney Tunes cartoons aren't exactly that clever though, most of their jokes are just cheap jokes of them hitting each other, stupid stuff kids laugh at.
Watch the stuff made before the '80s.
Have you even seen the original Looney tunes?? The recent reincarnations of the looney tunes I would have to say are total shit, but the original is comedy genius in my eyes and will always remain a classic.
Three words, Bugs opera episodes.
Now I wouldn't literally fuck a rabbit (anthropomorphic or otherwise) but I gotta say, in the case of Looney Tunes, Lola is all-right!
Though Space Jam was a crap movie, I still think R. Kelly should've been nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song for the song "I Believe I Can Fly"!
God I remember going through the listings as a kid to see if this movie appears 1/20 times it does. I love R Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly"
You mean a Grammy?
*****
*****
no Oscar
In the movies defense aliens are not that hard to buy when Marven the Martian is a reoccurring character.
I'm pretty sure Lola was a call out to Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Both movies had the same cartoon meets live action thing going on, and they were both really popular with kids in the 90's. That was the connection I'd always made anyway.
I love this movie
Bunny boobies. Do you still like it ?
And it's spelled auditore
Nikolas Orava yes
Lol i lost it at "WE HAVE BALLS"
What's the name of the song that plays at 9:23-9:50?
I know it's from Lord of the Rings, but which song is it?
you really cant think too critically about this movie especially since its rounded up with looney toons, cant tell me that show made every bit of sense all the time
I just have to disagree, because Space Jam was one of my favorite movies as a kid! Hell, I even had a Space Jam themed birthday party back in the day! It's what also got me into basketball :-)
I like space jam though. I thought it was done well
I'm not sorry the things i like are different from the things you like
space jam is an important part of american history
When you can't finish writing a comment because your in a playlist
Warner Brothers is currently being sued by Ornstein and Smough. The Guardians of the Princess were the originators of Slam Jam.
he should review looney tunes back in action.
I love that movie!
6:34 Ask the internet.
what movie is that final clip from? help is appreciated!
Critic: What does the other Looney Tunes characters have?
Sylvester: We got BALLS!
XD
EVERY BODY GET UP ITS TIME TO SLAM NOW!!!!
***** GAMEGRUMPS
***** you played like a gray ape
Despite this knowledge, I still like the movie. Boobs or not.
"We got BALLS!" I just died. XD
Can you imagine how fun it would've been if Charles Barkley was the protagonist? It would've been amazing, just think about it
lol we've got balls
I actually like Space Jam.
Same!!!
It's a guilty pleasure to me
So do my brother and I too and were excited for the sequel
Yeah I like this movie also
I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a crush on Lola as a kid
I never realized Bill Murray was in this movie.
The hole porpoise?
this movie is so great
I'm surprised the NC calls this movie a long commercial, and not say the same thing about the original ninja turtles cartoon, I mean its the same concept, a clever plot to sell toys, and boy did it worked.
I died in the "We have balls" part
That soundtrack though...and Lola was fiiiiine to me when I was a kid.
I love the Space Jam of the late 90s and it's a good movie/cartoon. However I prefer a timeless classic Looney Tunes from the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s. "WE GOT BALLTHHSZZZ!"
XD
6:47 i love how right he is and i love his reaction to sylvester
the funny thing is that the spacejam promo website from 1996 is still up in all its pre-flash glory.
Bill: this is why I was born. Me: no you were born to be in ghostbusters
no, i said 'the' and misspelled it as 'teh'. typos happen.
The modern Alvin and the Chipmunks movies felt to us what Space Jam probably felt like to the people who grew up with the Looney Tunes shorts in the late 40s and early 50s.
"what does that that mean the other Looney Toons character's have?!"
"WE'VE GOT BALLS!"
"STOOOP!"
pmsl xD
"Have you ever seen a bunny you acually had the hots for?............. THAT DOESN"T COUNT!!!!!"
I never write "ROFL", but I literally fell out of my chair, rolled around and laugh when I saw the "we got balls!" clip! :P too funny.
I remember the whole looney tunes craze in the mid to late 90s. People were walking around with looney tune T shirts. Not just kids, teenagers. It was crazy.
And now we have Zootopia...which just brings his bunny argument down so much as it was made for furries with a bunny .-.
I'm not a furry, and I think Zootopia is the best animated movie of all time. Not for its furry animals, but for its messages about racism and even drugs, and how well it handles topics like that in a kids movie.
Only thing good that came out that movie was Lola Bunny, despite the fact her personally was blan.
Sylvester: WE'VE GOT BALLZ!
Almost died.
6:45
JonTron: "Bunnies? ...BUNNIES?! Don't worry, everyone! It's just the MUTANT FUCKING RABBITS WITH BREASTS."
Granny punched the wolf and the cat in a Red Ridding Hood parody. She is not innocent!
6:24-7:35_He would later discover that Warner Bros were actually appealing to the furry demographic.
They even made a video game, and what happens? Monstars get no stats while the Loony Toons get MAJOR stats on everything, and Jordan is perfect everything. So why did the Loony Toons need Jordan?
Holy shit I can't believe I just realized that Dan Castellaneta (Homer Simpson) was in this movie!
So to be serious... I really think Billy West does a bad Bugs Bunny voice. All I hear is Fry trying to do a Bugs Bunny impression.
Yeah I like Billy West but I prefer Mel Blanc and Jeff Bergman's performances anyday.
It's funny that Doug says that they gave Lola no personality because the Looney Tunes themselves have no personality to speak of.
Those few seconds of 50's Looney Tunes made me laugh more than the whole movie itself
Was this recorded off a VHS tape?
It's an old review, the quality is like this on the official website, the only way to get this in HD is to remake the whole thing with Doug....why actually I wouldn't mind a remake if he covered more of the film since his reviews now are past twenty minutes usually.
Oh. Holy crap, it's been so long. I forgot that this movie had a story and that I was once a crazy, mindless tyke.
4:34 Daffy looks as if he just saw bugs playing duck hunt for the nes
I'm watching this at 12 in the morning waiting for my chicken nuggets to cook. Does that make me a bad person?
Lol, I used to go over my friend's house next door when I was little and watch this movie a lot.
XD
WE GOT BAAALS
Bugs: The aliens come and we challenge them to a basketball game... *drinks booze*
You know, if the Loony Toons put Spike, Mark Antony, Road Runner and Gossamer on the team, they'd win by a mile. Or am I just thinking to deeply into this?
Whoa, the aliens are wearing the 4th Doctor's scarf. I JUST noticed that.
Granny isn't all fun and games, in one old loony tunes cartoon where she's playing grandma from little red riding hood, she punches Sylvester right in the face.
When I was young, I was watching Space Jam and the cops stopped by to see if everything was alright. (no joke)
I've never heard of anyone hating this movie. Is this video for real? I understand anyone can hate anything, but this guy is taking everything in an oddly serious way.

"WHO THE FUCK'S LOLA?!"
We're in the same boat...
"They tried to pull her off some strange sex symbol...which is kind of weird because she's a rabbit."
Fuck like rabbits...that is all.
The Nostalgia Critic, ruining every good childhood memory so you don't have to!

I think the movie-makers maybe hid how they feel about the audience in that Bugs quote about the aliens.
"We got balls" perfect moment xD
"Innocent old Lady" Actually, She was a spy in WW2 if you haven't seen that episode :P
He said he liked Jurassic Park. He pointed out the mistakes, but he still said he like the movie
Surprised nobody brought up a Game Grumps related joke yet.
lmao once he started ranting on Lola, I was like "There goes your whole furry demographic." xD
There's a difference between liking a show and obsessing over it to the point where you socialize with other people just because of the label they have.
Whoa with that vocab you must have a Harvard degree
To answer the question, what were they thinking? I shall answer in the coolest way online.
THEY WERE THINKING THAT CHILDREN WERE GOING TO SEE THIS AND GO TO THEIR PARENTS AND SCREAM "MOMMY, DADDY, LETS GO SEE THIS FUNNY MOVIE AND THEN BUY ALL THE TOYS THAT CAME OUT WITH IT!!!"
It's a cash sink. Target to kids who like animated cartoons and then have parents spend boat loads of money on it.
"What kind of sick, twisted pervert gives a rabbit Bunny boobies?!"
Furries NC, Furries.
Holy shit. I just realized that bit with Bugs going on about having to do stand up comedy in slavery reminds me of Blackface.
