RIP Maurane. Lara and her had a very beautiful friendship according to what they both said about it. Maurane too was a very gifted, talented and hard working singer. She was loved in french speaking countries and we miss her very unique voice. This song is a masterclass in singing in thirds :-)
It's hard to translate a french song in english, it doesn't do it justice for sure. It's considered as one of the most beautiful french songs and francophone duets. If i had to choose one song to show Lara's skills as a songwriter, i think it would be this one. Maurane died in 2018, she was also belgian and very much respected in francophone countries. They met each other when Lara was 18, they were very close friends.

From observations, I have long been of the opinion that Fabian is a universal greatest duet partner. She is so generous and collaborative. Then I discovered this gem and realized Maurane is Fabian's perfect duet partner. They are so well matched. Immensely talented contralto + immensely talented soprano + girgeous song in close harmony = magic. After I discovered & became obsessed with Fabian's work, I discovered & fell in love with this song. I didn't understand the words and didn't look them up. I just loved it. I would play it on loop at night as a sort of soothing, melancholy lullaby to destress. At the time, my beloved mother was in the final months of hospice care with me. The night my mom died, I played it for us as I waited for the nurse to come. Sometime in the following days I finally looked up the words. They were astonishingly apt. Sensitive & wonderful reaction, my man. Looking forward to more from you, solo as well as with Angie. 🖖🏽
