Choctaw-Chickasaw "Drunk Dance" with Ardis Mose

- This is taken from the album: Choctaw-Chickasaw Dance Songs Vol. I produced by Buster Ned and Sweetland Productions in the 1970s. Ned was a prolific leader in trying to maintain and restore many Choctaw and Chickasaw aspects of ceremonial life. The leader for this dance is Ardis Mose.
The following is information on the back of the album by Buster Ned:
"The songs and dances of the Choctaws and Chickasaws have been handed down from generation to generation since the beginning of these Indian Tribes. The Choctaws singing these ancient songs for the album are from the Sixtown Clan (Okla Honili). The Chickasaws are from the generation of I. Hunter Pickens. These songs were sung at stomp dances and stickball games in the Oklahoma Counties of Marshall, Carter, and Bryan from 1890 to 1937 after removal of the Choctaws and Chickasaws from east of the Mississippi River to Indian Territory. In those early days there were many leaders in both Tribes for the singing and dancing. To name a few: Logan Parker, M.L. Scott, Joe Pickens, C.S. Tubbee, Jack Williams, Charley Lewis, Flex Johnson, Johnny Gilmore, John Sampson, and Billy Washington. There were two famous dance grounds in those days: Twin Ponds for the Chickasaws, and Yellow Hill for the Choctaws; and today, on a still summer night, I can hear in the air the lingering songs of those dances long ago. The Choctaw-Chickasaw Heritage Committee is reviving the ancient songs and dances. Some of the songs are in this album."
Beautiful, glad this is recorded and out there. God bless and preserve the Cherokee and Choctaw people. Sisters in survival together, there is beauty in the tragedy.

Eli Pickens is where I get my role number from. I hunter is not on the roles, but my family has an old picture of him. I found out later that it wasn't hunter, it was hunta. He's still not on the Dawes rolls but Eli's role number was 4500. And he was the one recorded in the census. So this is fucking awesome and I'm sending this to my mom. My grandpa was very proud of I hunter and this is the first documentation I've found besides our own family pictures.

Estalusti here. Chicasaw/ Choctaw traced back three generations (descendents of King and Rose Blue; and Nelson Colbert) on the "Rolls." Is there something you want to say to me?

As a choctaw chanter. I am curious to know if this was choctaw or chicksaw chants. Because the chant know for drunk dance is much slower but uses the same words towards the end? I just think it's really intriguing.

They are out of print as far as I know. These came from lp to digital transfer I made on my computer years back.

I have been told I was Choctaw although I was told to keep digging and I personally do not appreciate any Choctaw to have a stigma attached to our bloodline. All indians are not drunks. Especially, and I would hope and pray, not the Choctaw people's. Peace.
