- We FINALLY purchased a car & it didn't work...Here's the story behind it all PLUS some of my FAVORITE places in Guadalajara including two recommendations for places to eat.

This vlog has a little bit of everything...including dishing on our car drama...in the closet 🙃 If you have any words of encouragement, it would be appreciated 😅
We also are trying to buy a car through this company. Thanks to your video we are asking a lot of questions before we fork over the money. I asked they send over the contract before we send the money, they said “no” but eventually sent over a copy of the contact.
A couple lines into the contract it states they install a GPS so they can track you and gather info to benefit their company.
This is where we walk away. They have no interest in providing good service to the customer, I will take my chances else where.
Best of luck
MAKE SURE to let the car place KNOW you have a CZcams channel and are DISCUSSING IT. IT is a rare fringe benefit of running a channel AND it will give you some additional leverage for them to do the RIGHT thing.
I’m hopeful!
On the other hand (yeah I'm butting in here) if you act like a random person you (and we thru you) will learn more about whether or not Kavak is a good company to buy from. It's not my money though so hey. You'll do what you need to do.
Do you think a decent percentage of their potential customers are watching a CZcams channel directed to people outside of Mexico? It may be best to be polite and persistent.
@@beverlyb6391 What you are saying does not make sense... OF COURSE you would still be polite and persistent, you just let them KNOW that you are sharing the car purchase process with people OUTSIDE snd INSIDE of Mexico who might want to buy a car from them too... IT is still great advertising IN or OUT of Mexico for future in MEXICO buyers...... DUH ❗
@@bmyra EXACTLY, how shortsighted was that other BEVERLY comment 😂 HELLOOOOO
Good to know. Hopefully Kavak honors their guarantee. Kavak is very big in CDMX. Good luck and keep us posted.
I will definitely update you when we know something, Robert!
Taylor, I had heard about this Kavak company before. They had such a bad reviews from some other clients. They are a few videos in YT. I heard problems with mechanical issues, service issues and the way they recover the car in case of not making payments is really scary. It turns up that they install a localizing device as well as an engine disabling device n the car. In case they decide to take the car back, they track your car while driving and they disable the engine and they just take the car from you. This is highly illegal according to the Mexican lawyers because they should bring you to court before taking the car this way. This company is actually owned by a Venezuelan citizen that fled to Mexico a few years ago. So we don't know if he brought these strange practices with him. They do a lot of advertising since they had some famous Mexican investors specially in the soccer world. I would recommend to buy a used car straight from a dealership. They often buy used cars from recurring customers and those cars are used for a few months plus when the car is of the brand as the dealership they give you a warranty on the used car. GOOD LUCK!
ok guys i'm going dad mode here because i'm 68 and you're like my kids age:
1. you're doing the right thing with the car, work out the issues as best you can
2. QUIT RIDING BIKES ON PUBLIC STREETS, i love bikes, rode them all my life until recently, but cars kill bikes and the people riding them, stick to the parks and trails

Thanks, Uncle Bakie 🥰
@@alex-wittman please please at least wear a helmet. I too used to worry about my hair getting messed up etc. BUT my husband was in a very serious wreck. Broken ribs, collapsed lung, knee miniscus torn.....he fortunately was wearing a helmet which his Doctor told him that it saved his life! Helmet hair I dont care! Be safe!
@@traceyb715 I want to second Tracey's request to wear a helmet. Thanks.
Yes on the restaurant review idea. It's always fun to check out reviews and compare experiences.
Thanks for the feedback, Robert!
You guys so cute! Good luck with everything 🫶🕊
Thank you!
Glad you guys are enjoying Guadalajara!
Felicidades chicos.!!
Hey Alex & Taylor, I hope everything works out for you both. From what you both said you were really looking forward to having a car. I know from what you both have said Taylor did his due diligence to find a good car with no issues. I hope the best for you both in getting this resolved soon.
Love your date night ritual you two are the sweetest couple ❤ Hope the car issue gets resolved soon. I don’t know why in Mexico car buying so difficult. They even are difficult with exporting cars from US.
Sorry about the car. Love los colomos! We had had our engagement pictures taken at the Japanese garden. And yes to the restaurant reviews. Try santo coyotes. Also any of the Argentine steakhouses.
Hi Alex and Taylor, love these GDL videos. Since GDL is a bigger city and with more population city so I'm sure there will be lots of stories ☺️... what a headache to buy a car but hope you get reimbursed soon better or get a lawyer but gop it's a matter of time. Looking forward the next vlogs on the new places you are visiting. 😘♥️✌️
I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the vlogs, MaryLou! Thanks for watching! I always love seeing you in the comments 🥰
Good luck. I took a car to Mex. just to have the Trany rebuilt - they did a good job and it was economical.
We just bought a car from Kavak in Guadalajara as well. Somewhat frustrating process but the vehicle seems to be good. We opted for a basic model with low miles so that should reduce the risk of problems hopefully.
We are planning to buy a car when we move to Mexico in March. This sounds pretty cool if all works out!! 🙏
I will def keep you posted! Thanks for watching!
We are moving to Aguascalientes in January. We are also buying a car, plz plz do keep us updated. Best wishes on the refund too
I've been in Queretaro for a year and a half now. Love your channel. I bought a used dodge Durango from my mechanic and it's been great. I wouldn't buy Anything anywhere from anyone without having a mechanic check it first. The little money you spend for an inspection makes a world of a difference. How your matters get resolved.
Hi! Can you please recommend your mechanic? I'm looking for the cars and need to check
We will be visiting GDL for a week at the end of January before heading to Ajijic so restaurant reviews would be helpful. Also, areas or places to stay. We have been looking in Colonia Americana. BTW, you both seem really happy with the move to GDL.
I live in gdl and had a terrible experience buying a car with kavak. their customer service was so unhelpful after they made multiple mistakes on their end. neverrrrr again would i buy from them, but it is hard because they really have monopolized the market
So good to know. We are feeling like we need to settle and just go with them because of their “guarantee”. Any suggestions of where else to go to buy a car?
@@chefdrew4622 i have friends who've had better luck buying seminuevos through dealerships. it's normally a bit more expensive and you'll have less of a selection, but it's worth it not to have to deal with kavak
Date nights are great!!!! 😍🥰
WOW I'm sorry about the car. And I'm unimpressed with Kavak just based on your experience. (Vicariously salty.) It seems like a refund or exchange should be quick and automatic given their guarantee. In any case Taylor did a great job quickly evaluating the car and contacting Kavak. Please keep us posted. After my Temp Residency expires I'll have to return my car to the US and buy one here.
I will definitely keep you updated & pass along your vicarious saltiness 🧂
I have 2 friends who have bought cars from Kavak and they have both been very happy. I bought a demo car from Dalton (they have many dealerships) and zero problems in 2.5 years. So, as long as you don’t buy junk (Nissan, Fiat and some VWs) then buying used is a good deal here. BTW, Av Patria across from Bosque Colomos is part of Via Recreactiva on Sundays, even though it doesn’t display as such on maps.
I’m anxious to hear about cost of living there.
After all of the years of Uber and taxis I know how excited you were to get a car. Sorry you got a lemon with your first purchase but the next car will be better (or will you get the same car back after repairs?), either way, it will be good! Love that biking is so popular there and happy for you that you enjoy your new city.
Restaurant reviews would be awesome.
Thanks for the feedback, Jeffrey!
Only time I bought a car outside the US was in Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 where I bought a new Toyota 4Runner from the dealership. It worked out well.
Actually it is definetely challenging to buy a car at the moment in México. Checked out Kavac in Queretaro too, but didnt like the concept. Used UBER and DIDI almost a year until I bought my nearly new car from a working collegue who had to go back to Europe. Was kind of luck....🤷🏻♂️, definetely changed a lot for me living in QRO, beeing able to get around the different colonias more freely, explore other parts of the city...once you get out of centro histórico and cruise along Bernardo Quintana and the other major roads you start feeling how big and diverse QRO is....
Anyway: Good luck to you in Guadalajara, have visited 2 weeks ago, but was happy to come back to my beloved QRO.
We are new here in QRO and having a large family we need a car but like you said we are not impressed with the business model of buying a car. I’ll be anxiously awaiting your outcome to this car buying adventure.
Best of luck
Always have a mechanic look at I know a good one in Chapala
I couldn't make out the make of your car, but if it's a Nissan, there are known issues with CVT transmissions on certain models. There has been a class action settlement here in Canada where I live. Our Nissan had the same issue as you had: we couldn't get up the ramp to exit an underground garage.
Hola! Sorry to hear about your experience & hope that it ends well. I actually have so many questions regarding the car buying experience as a foreigner. Do you have permanent or temporary residency? Assuming permanent, did you need to get a Mexican driver's license? What is the process for title & tag on a used vehicle? Thanks & best of luck!
Thanks for sharing your experience with Kavak! So after 4.5 months, how did it end up? Did they fix the car, or issued a refund? Would you recommend against using Kavak for purchasing a used car in Mexico?
I have missed your videos
I am looking forward to buy car in GDL within a month. After seeing your case, now worried how to go for it. Car is necessary because my office is very far from the apartment I have rented.
Is Taylor an American or a Canadian, because he always appears super chill and calm?
Guys GOT to be Canadian.
I sure hope things work out. Please keep us updated. I will be shopping in January for one. The Kavaka model does not appeal to me. I would not buy a car before driving it.
I will definitely keep you updated!
🤗🤗
Gracias por ver, Benito!
I want to know more about that steak. 🤤
It was lamb!
Nice
Just curious, what model car , year, miles, damage history?
Espero. que bien
Súper bien 🥰🫶🏼
GDL IS SAFE ????? Please make video about the city , Thank you
Ugh I’m outside Monterrey snd must have a car to get anywhere. Trying to figure it out now. Not much help here. Interesting. ✌🏼
Was it a CVT transmission? If that’s the case, those have proven rather troublesome. If you know a mechanic, have them take a good look at the car
1 star for kavak
If they are replacing the transmission, keep the car! It will have a $5000+ new transmission! This is one of the more expensive parts on a car.
Was it a Nova? ;)
Uffff the only way it could have been worse 😅
Not calling alor, everything has to be documented. Emails and or hire an attorney!
Hola Alex como estas?
Hola! Gracias por ver 🥰
That dude is NOT happy...at all!
Awwww you don't have to share your date nights!! Get a new car. Give them another chance.
I love the closet confessions! I hope you guys can get a refund
Thanks for watching, Fil! Hopefully we have some good news to share soon!
You have residency, but are non-residents allowed to buy cars in Mexico? ps - lol at closet confessions
Mucho tiempo
Estoy aquí ahora 🫶🏼
Don't buy from kavak even the Mexicans will tell you to stay away from this company. Buy a car from locals and get a mechanic to look at the vehicle.
Haha, a blown tranny used car is worth $0, yet the "dealer" must be a fraud trying to sell it.
Definitely a frustrating situation 🫠
Kavac is a scam guys, better buy seminuevos from Mazda, Honda or other dealers.
Call the American embassy they will call FBI to investigate always take a mechanic.
Nos abandonaste!!
Jamás!
Sorry for biased hater in your comment section....
Some people cant just open their eyes and become better human beings.
The majority of this community couldn't be further from that, so I am grateful 🥰
Mechanics are cheep in Mex., so just get it fixed.
The dealer took it to their shop for evaluation.
Oh, be careful to find an talented and honest mechanic. You'll need a referral or just have a friend handle that task - maybe your host can help. I have helped my guests get excellent mechanics that work for half the price.
Kavak is a fraud :(
Did you have a bad experience with them, Jacob??
"he" bougtht a car. you didnt contribute a centavo
@bacardi mgtow
Your lot love your so called facts qnd so called stayistic: but NEVER aknowledge ALL THE OTHER STATS that contradict your blind view of the whole world!!!
Nooo, because men cant possible be wronf and all women are evil, men cant possible be shallow and women cant possible be selfless etc.
You guys need THERAPY. A serious reality check.
Leave us the F alone!!
You as men have had the choice to always live ALONE and not get married, you always had that choice.
Now SOME women are finally getting that choice so we chose way before men to live WITHOUT ANY MEN DRAMA IN OUR LIVES.
You have all these choices and yet you still complain and still spit on an entire gender all day long.
Men can get so pathetic it's sureal.....
You and all bad women make the human race so F up!!!
@bacardi mgtow
A LOT of women never take one penny from men or other women.
You guys are so ment@l just because some women wronged you doesnt prove everyone else is bad.
Grow a brain!
I sponsored my man out of his poor country by paying alone for years even after he couldnt work.
I know a frined who did the same.
And i know men gold diggers.
I know men that move from one wallet-woman to another.
Etc
But you guys decided which fact you spread and ignore everything else that doesnt corelate with your victim-stories.
We never hear about all these selfless women. No of course not.
But we are all there.
You cant make us magically disapear.
You make me sick. Just spreading hatred and brainwashing people.
I'm not going to dignify this with anything more than LOL.
