Fun fact: Data Design pushed out so much shovelware garbage using the same engine, they actually became the single largest third-party developer for the Wii.
Just let that sink in for a bit.
It was the Christmas of '07. The first present I opened was a large box, when I ripped the wrapping paper a then unfamiliar logo appeared 'Nintendo Wii'. At the time I knew little of video games, I'd seen ads for Pokémon games around when they came out, but that was about it. A few different boxes later I come across a final gift, roughly the size of two stacked Wii games. The first thing I noticed upon opening was a card. As I opened it I read its contents aloud. "Dear Meghan, we really hope you enjoy the games we got for you. Love, mom & dad." Years have passed and my memory has faded, but I will never forget the next part of the gift that I saw. It was this game. Obviously my first instinct after gift opening ended was to set up the Wii, so after a good hour of confusion coming from my too young to get it self, and to old to get it father we finally had it set up. Now, my dad's a big fan of Elvis, so seeing this cartoon version of him on the cover my dad suggested trying this game first. Maybe it's just because video games were something new to me, but I couldn't figure it out for the life of me. I tried and tried, but never even made it past the drum enemies. The game aggravated me to no end, and we immediately sold it at EB Games the next day. Now, watching you play fills me with a strange form of nastolgia. Not quite love, but somehow not hate. Just a memory from the last that will never sleep.
What a terrible fate.

"Ohhhhhh no."
>sees gameplay
"Oh please no."
"How much do you think it cost to develop it?"
10 shillings and 1 skipped lunch break.
+Cero 'Vurum *can you convert that to crunchshekels?
+Charm ad 5$ for a used copy of spyro 3 so they could rip the engine since this game just looks like like a ps1 spyro game to me graphic and gameplay wise
+Justagermannerd it actually was supposed to be zool 3,but the owners of the license who saw it thought that it was so bad they rejected their rights to use the zool character. It was then changed to ninja bread man as a launch title, reskined to Anubis 2 and finally rockn roll adventures.
+killer piggies It also was apparently reskinned to that one wizard game Vinny played a long time ago, as well as Trixie In Toyland (which I think Vinny also played himself).
Crazy Luigi my bad i forgot about those as well.
So, this is a universe where you will be killed by a Sackboy Elvis if you play a note wrong?
Something hilarious about DDI is before they went defunct, they actually planned on making Ninjabread Man 2 and started a contest for kids to submit character ideas. Their shitty Ninja Man Bread 2 website was even still online last I checked
But I think children could make better designs than the company themselves.
sounded more like Hank hill than it did Elvis.
Fun fact: The spin of the cover is spelt "Advnetures".
*spine
Fuck auto correct
+AlduinGijinka I'm sure they blame auto-correct, too. TYPING IS HARD!

+The_Ideaist Same...
+The_Ideaist Hey, it's the thought that counts!
eins2001 It was for herself.
The_Ideaist ... It's the thought that counts?
"Intelligent enemies"
The first enemy in the game stand completely still or walk back and forth on a set path
No wait, they also are programmed to chase you! I'm impressed by these developers, maybe later on there will be screen transitions!
Imagine this. You're playing Zelda, any Zelda, and you've got quite a few hearts, maybe 10 to 19 hearts. Then, you smash a pot during a dungeon, a heart pops out and you think "Eh, kinda useless, but I'll take it." and pick it up. Then, the heart sets your health to only a quarter of a heart left. How pissed would you be?
This is someones favorite game.
the one good thing about this game is that it made me want to play Spyro again, so there's that.
for me, it made my wii break down so i couldn't play eny more bad wii shovelware games (the wii was duck taped together so it didnt need to do much but still)
this was the wii's brutal legend
Elvis presly must be rolling in his grave knowing that this shit exists.
Probably spinning, if we hooked up a generator to him we'd have free energy!
He's coming back from the grave to bash and trash the nightmare-games.
+Jaxxoon R *adn. Adn trash the nightmare games.
How long till one if this Shovelware producers calls out Vinny Digital Homicide style
Hey Vinny... did you know that all of those Data Design Interactive platformer games you played beforehand (from Ninjabread Man to Anubis II to that wizard game to that toy game to this game right here) were all based off of a failed design for what they were planning as Zool 3 for the Playstation 2, Nintendo Wii, and the PC? Yeah, apparently a game that was mainly for the Commodore Amiga and Atari Jaguar that was trying to make a comeback instead wound up being mangled and torn apart beyond all belief to make all those shit Data Design platformer games here! Great job, world...
"In 2008, games reviewers on IGN and GameSpot UK declared DDI were damaging the Wii games market's credibility by saturating the market with substandard products. One review called for Nintendo to refuse publishing DDI games on the grounds that they were killing public interest in the Wii.[8]"
This is what the founder says on his LinkedIn: "We use our internal development system GODS, which enables us to be the world most efficient and productive games development company, we were the leading publisher of Nintendo Wii titles, with 32 titles developed and published in 18 months."
" With the dev system and team I built, we managed to gain 40% of the Wii market share, selling product worth 100M at retail, and managing to develop, approve and publish a new SKU every 2 weeks for over a year - an organizational feat that no other publisher or developer has been able to beat."
+Ludden
here is their official website: www.ddi-games.com/
the website looks like something from 2008, the code is horrible and the background has mario, link and sonic
also:
"Learn what it takes to Design & Create a Video Game by Video Game Industry Veterans."
"Similar to the first game, it is being programed internally using our GODS game engine"
"" We are looking forward to the future, it looks very bright!", Stewart Green, CEO"
+Blü this website is straight out of 2005.
What an arrogant prick.
+Blü They're making the "sequel" to Lego Rock Raiders?!? And they're calling it BLOCK RAIDERS? Get the fuck out of here. Someone email Lego and get them to cease and desist immediately. This is an affront to video games.
The website's gone now, THANK FUCKING GOD!
This music sounds like one of joel's shitty midis
That's an insult to shitty midis
As soon as I saw the Dev’s name I immediately thought, “This is just another Ninjabread Man clone, isn’t it?”
I am somewhat gratified but mostly horrified by how right I was. It is a terrible sensation.
Wait. Let me get this straight. So this company makes a game, reskins it, reskins it again, and then another time and sold all four? This company is either really stupid or has a lot of balls.
This game made someone a millionaire.
Elvis is a boss in the Waynes World SNES game.
Hes so major that hes an enemy in video games.
Data Design Interactive was based in the uk...
i have never felt to ashamed to be british...
what does America like?
I know!
ELVIS AND ROBOTS
You TWAT
+BitSmall even being in the same country as Coldplay dosent make me feel so shitty and i fucking detest them
+Mason Clifton to be fair, we love robots and Elvis
FISH AND CHIPS!
I heard that the developers wanted a Ninjabread Man 2, but closed down right after the announcement
ninjabreadman is a reskin of trixy in toyland... anubis 2 is a reskin of ninjabreadman... this is a reskin of anubis 2...
WHAT THE HELL!
goddamn
Actually Ninjabread Man came out first, so that would be the ground zero
Consider this.
Somebody pre-ordered this game.
Data Design, more like Data Defecation
Data Design/Conspiracy Entertainment games. Good times. Choice cuts. 10/10 would play again.
Yo Vinny. If you do another Shovelware Showcase in the near future, you should consider the "Myth Makers" games. They're published by DD/Conspiracy. There are 3 games in this series (at least to my knowledge):
Trixie in Toyland, which is NinjaBread Man in, well, "Toyland".
Super Kart GP, which is Action Girlz Racing, but replace "MOVE OVA SISTA" with kids.
Orbs of Doom, which is Super Monkey Ball minus fun.
This was my favourite game as a kid. Because speakers, piano keys everywhere, cool lighting. I was SOLD
In case anyone was curious, the music staves scrolling the background sound like shit when you actually play them.
“Because of DDI, Rock and Roll is dead.” - Jim Morrison
4:03 Oh, so *that* explains why your ticker was saying Trash! Well, what was Joel playing to have his ticker say Fuck You instead of whatever it was he was really playing?
He played Fuck You! :P
I think I actually had this at one point. The horror.
It's funny how this game is a reskin of Ninjabread Man which was originally going to be the third game in the "Zool" series which was a spirtual sucessor to "Switch Blade". What...can't you see the natural evolving of some overlooked home computer game to shovelware trash? I sure can't. :P Maybe the wiiviewer does since he has covered quite a few of Data Design Interactive's games.
Why do these instruments have RESISTORS in them?! Either these are MIDI instruments (I don't see any cords) or that is their only protection from Elviz's cruel electrocution attacks to these harmless instruments.
A new SKU every two weeks for a year, using the same engine... Genius, in a sick way.
Have no idea how Data Design lasted until August 2012.
Ugh why do the drums explode into NES carts?!
Because quality.
That wasp was a hero.
I'm on their website right now. it is a sight to behild.
The $1.2 mil this turd made almost assuredly came out of the pockets of clueless grannies. Also your Bill Hicks reference made me hard as diamond.
data design called this shit "Game-based development"
6:52
VINNY, STAHP
ok seeing how conspirocy games is on the box we already know how this game is going to play
Datadesign Interactive is giving Capstone a run for it's bankrupt money.
God, I got this game probably a year or two after it came out because it was on sale at Toys-R-Us. Even ten-or-so-year-old me couldn't fucking tolerate the controls for more than maybe fifteen minutes. And trust me, I had shit taste.
THIS IS LITERALLY TRIXIE IN TOYBOX LAND.
I can see what Vinny meant by the rock mountain being representative of Elvis's journey, after all, this game is full of cymbal-ism.
I fucking love Vinny for referencing Bill Hicks
I had this game
If I ever was a Fan of Zool, I’d make a true 3rd game
"Anabis 2"
Thank god I never had a Wii when I saw at least 3 of their games and I remember being interested but mostly my parents were at the time
OHOHO, GIVE IT TO ME BABY.
DDI's GODS engine was created by them specifically so they could take huge amounts of one game,re skin it and use it to make another. Essentially creating a mediocrity and laziness engine. In statements by the company they literally wanted to fill the lacking Wii games market and used these piles of shit to do it. You can look at their catalog of games see that not one of them excluding a single Lego title is any good.
That's probably only because they were afraid of what Lego would do to them if it was as agonizingly bad as everything else they put on the assembly line.
Even crazier?
All these reskins were intended to be ONE game and it wasn't Ninja Bread Man....it was meant to be a reboot of Zool which was a game that was on the Atari Jaguar back in the day. So what we're looking at is what was meant to be a reboot of an actual game but when they lost the license, they just took what they had left and turned it into...this shit.
@@SuperCosmicMutantSquid The thing is that each new world you see in every "spin-off" was meant to be an individual level in the Zool game, meaning that the only new assets created for each version of the game were just the playermodels lol
I want a data design Smash brothers game with Ninjabread man, Anubis II, the Move Ovah Sista girl, and Elbis.
The final boss is a character from a good game - Mario, for instance.
You can't win. He just punts you out of existence and the rest of the world cheers.
I'm more thinking of a very bootleg version.
That description on the back of the box kinda makes me think of Symphogear.
Except Symphogear is much, much better.
The character you play as, "Elviz" looks like Sackboy
Actually looks like the dude of Manglewood in LBP3
You should definitely play Trixie in Toyland if you haven't already; you'll love it.
+Pot Ato I think he did.
i feel like this is what some sad 40-50 year old would buy for his garage man-cave that he spent his retriement money on during his mid-life crisis
What do TV remotes have to do with rock'n'roll?
Shovelware showcase when?
Ah, yes, the drums that are full of resistors and computer parts.
Guys, it's Ninjabread Man and Trixie in Toyland all over again.
This game was 3$ used? That's more than I spent on the copy of Metroid Other M from Gamestop. Other M only cost me 2$.
I got other M at 5 below for $5 new.
I was happy with that game, its no metroid prime but it was ok. 1st person view mode was a mistake though.
+Wyvern I'm thumbs-up-ing your comment and the one you replied to simply because Other M was mentioned without any brainless mudslinging.
BloodrealmX
-Thanks, I'm thumb upping you for thumb upping.
I miss the times, when the nintendo seal of quality actually meant something :(
Honestly, that seal didn't mean much back in the NES days.
I'd take LJN over these monsters, at least LJN tried something new every game.
I bought Anubis 2 off the box art when I was a kid, I regretted it and just thought I was bad at it
"Uhuhuh... gonnamoveawayfromthemicrophone..."
I'm the thrash man! I thrash GARBAGE!
is it just me or does the theme of the wii menu channel sound like "we're in the money"?
Better than some of the early access and greenlit games on Steam
Is it wrong that I feel sorry for the instruments you have to defeat in this game?
Shovelware showcase?
Vinny, your commentaries regarding the Level design is actually targeting the Level Art, which would then be targeted by the Art Direction! :O
question; what do you think was cheaper to make, this or animal soccer world?
+Ari Silver Give him the Animal Soccer World yourself, and find out firsthand!
Oh geez I know their animation those are the guys that made the 102 dalmatians game and snow white and the seven clever boys.
Honest to god, DDI makes me sick to the core. The fact that a company, that's so fixated on the green paper god that they don't even attempt to hide it, existed within an industry which considers EA and Activision to be the worst of the worst, and is focused on bringing quality entertainment to folks, just hurts my soul.
derp
Blorp
This inspires me to make a platformer in game maker, and then re-release it with a new skin every week for years. Why? Just so the prick who made this game can't brag about his team being the best at "creating" and selling snake oil.
I seen bootlegs that had better graphics and gameplay
Who is the co founder of Data Design?
Well, I was just listening to some different versions of Proof of a Hero, the main theme of Monster Hunter, a video game series with incredibly good music, so now I'll watch a video game that's incredibly bad and has a music theme. Many of the same words, but very, very, VERY different.
Hey man, at least this game has polygons. I mean, we all know that the Wii literally can't render polygons at all.
I own this game. Don't worry I'm a game collector. I have it cause its shit.
Why does Vinny pronounce Anubis as Anna Bus?
One of my mom's friends bought me this game....I tried to break it because I hated it so much
what exactly is an sku?
A product number. Basically it means he was proud that they made games so frequently and efficiently.
+Nibbles A Stock-Keeping Unit: something that someone sells
thanks for the explication! now I'm gonna go cry myself to sleep
+Nibbles good nite
I swear I remember this game came with a collection of shovelware PC games I bought at Walmart a few years back.
Almost all of the games ended up being shitty besides the MegaRace games it had, Gods vs Humans and some formula one game
Edit - it might've been some game about a rock and roll alligator, all I remember it was related to rock and roll and sucked
Mini Showcase?
Yep
+vaska00762 I got a mini showcase for ya *points to pants*
fun fact, data design was screwed back in 2012 because they couldnt pay off their debts. thank god.
How many fucking games did these guys make??
+Trina Wolfy One.
+Hobo Siege :'^)
+Hobo Siege I was going to correct you but you're absolutely right, it's just one game with different skins.
+Hobo Siege You must be new to Vinesauce.
+Hobo Siege And then they reskined and re-released the same game under different titles mutiple times.
Is it me, or do the enemies explode into floppy disks?
It ain't you. They're robots.
hold the fuck on, are you telling me this garbage was $40 at the least?
no fuckin way. I made a mistake please tell me I am misunderstanding please tell me this was actually only 3 dollars
don't think you can copyright a given name
what's fucking horrible is how there are paid shills and actual defenders of these games, wherever a review may be
that one dog football game for example
My mom bought this game for me :/ xD
better then sonic boom
+Christopher Lecain ................no
Pls
