I have had a long standing theory that anyone who plays metal on a strat is either a high-schooler or guitar wizard. I have yet to see anything in between
Give a Start 24 frets, two humbuckers (good ones, too, I covet Bare Knuckle Juggernauts myself) and still the middle single, an ebony fretboard and I see no reason why it shouldn't be able to do what these other "crunch" guitars do as long as it's played through the same gear they are. There are Strats with at least a bridge humbuck, but I've never seen any with 24 frets. Fender probably won't market Strats that are more or less set up like Ibanez RGs or ESP Horizons because most metal guitarists probably don't care for the Strat's aesthetic, so it would be a waste of money. I'd buy it, though. I love all metal from old school stuff like Slayer, Morbid Angel, Metallica, Van Halen, Iron Maiden, and many more all the way to newer stuff like Periphery, Bring Me the Horizon, Parkway Drive, etc., but I'm not really about the whole "metal" aesthetic, so something like a Strat set up in the way I described would be perfect for me.

i play metal on my squier strat with seymour duncan hot rail as a bridge pickup it sounds awesome.

nomakills Either that's an HSS, or it's not. Also, there's the pro set, made by Kirk Hammett, I have this on my guitar, and it works well. It's the one with the pickguard.
