4:07 "The 15% speed increase is actually 30% because you run diagonally" uh... I don't think that's how math works
I know! I'm thinking he's meaning your brain works 30% slower! 😂
Difference in speed over time ∆V/t = (Vf - Vi)/t
Vf = 1.15*V
V being the previous run speed with a 15% increase.
Vi = -1.15V
Because we're dealing with vectors and this is assuming a 180° change in direction just to simplify things, the equation is:
∆V = 1.15V - (-1.15V)
- and - equal +
∆V = 1.3V
∆V is obviously known as acceleration but ∆V makes it more readable.
Hopefully that explains things. This equation is like 1st day of Physics I.
In reality you'd use trigonometry to find the correct value according to the angle of the direction change, but the 1.3 multiplayer would still be there. So regardless of the angle, the speed change is indeed 30% increased.
its just not 15% though, more like 20-25%
@@monoespacialA much needed reminder that I’m still horrific at math. Thank you, Mono
Hell yeah mono😭 I love it hahaha
Hard not to listen to your community when your active player count plummets in a matter of weeks
Some would have stuck to their guns regardless, believe me. The fact they listened is commendable
@@maxx_2245 If they did not listen the game would become a dead game.
And your community review bombs your game to hell.
Gaijin practically took a revolt by its content partners, and massive review bombing, before they changed tack. And the changes they were implementing were blatantly about their greed. At least with HLL the changes were an attempt to get more players, albeit a misguided one in my opinion, rather than a naked attempt to extract more money from their supposed free-to-play customers. If the new changes/reversions to HLL meet my expectations, I’m gonna try to do my bit for the company by putting a bit of effort into telling people about the game. I’m grateful to Gaijin for showing me how poorly a company can treat its customers and still survive, if their product is monetised addiction/frustration and there are no direct competitors. HLL is just a nicer game to deal with both inside and outside the actual game and I’m pleased they have listened and promise to respond.
The cope from the cod scum in the discord has been amazing.
Lol, I was wondering why this video wasn't getting any comments. Apparently I had disabled comments... somehow? Not sure how that happened. Anyway, feel free to talk now!
Rip
Haven't played for 7 months. Planning to bring the boys back this summer. I'm excited, to say the least 😅 keep it up mono.
The panther reload speed is the fact a heavy tank is reloading as fast as a medium tank. That's why panthers are the best tanks in the game bar none and the tigers are almost never used unless the team has a surplus of fuel and 2 tanks die at once.
When you mentioned the gunplay balance, the brits should also have faster bolt action cycle for the Lee Enfield, and have the Bren Bipod usable while still being able to ADS while moving, to compensate for the lack of Semi-Auto rifles.
It's great that they're updating the tutorialization, but I'm gonna go ahead and continue to direct people to... here lol
I know I would have stopped playing after two hours if I didn't find your channel.
A BAR with a deployable bipod, select fire with the slower rate of fire, bayonets and more historically accurate weapon load outs for early, mid and late war maps would be nice.
Bipods (that WORK) for the FG42 and Bren as well, yeah
@@mashattack551 hahaha, they definitely need to fix the janky ass bipods
Some old a*s games like Red Orchestra also allowed for leaning a weapon on suitable objects, e.g. fences, window frames etc. to stabilize aim ... sounds like something well suited for HLL, too!
I’d REALLY appreciate being able to use bipods for the BAR, BREN, and FG… I’ve thought of that same freaking thing and I’d love it so much. As of right now, automatic riflemen are my least enjoyed class just because I’m really not a fan of any of those weapons due to high recoil
oh yes, please, that would be awesome, the M1918A2 version would be the deal - bipod and fireselector (300-450 or 500-650 rpm for the A2)
the bren and FG42 could also benefit for implying bipods, would really love that
So yes, they listened. They have yet to prove they are capable of delivering. Keep that in mind.
Definitely a step in the right direction though. I really don't wanna see this game die, 1600 hours in it and it would really upset me if they screwed it up
That's great they admitted they didn't think of how changing the sprint speed would affect the wide gameplay balance. But it's also VERY CONCERNING that they did not think it would.
Hopefully they go through with the promises, just reminds me of what happened to the Battlefield franchise and it breaks my heart
2042 is actually a lot of fun now. It took them a year and a half but they got there.
Battlefield games have always been pretty shit. Unbalanced weapons, Not fixing balancing issues, just a few examples. Battlefield 1 is one example of a 50 50 game. Most maps are detailed and incredible and I love the destruction. However its got so many unbalanced weapons like the telescopic mgs with 0 recoil, OP AA and the Air to Air pvp is terribly boring. If youre in an attack plane you just switch to gunner and after 10-15 hits on the other planes the fight is over. Battlefield 1 is pretty shit.
Hallelujah. Refreshing to see devs listening to their community.
It's either that or the game dies. No idea why it took an inferno being lit under their asses for them to start taking things seriously.
@@I_enjoy_some_thingslet's not be so harsh. Everyone makes mistakes. They are realizing their mistakes and correcting them.
Many devs just ignore player feedback for their own ego's sake. The game elite dangerous is a prime example of ignoring player feedback and watching the game die a slow death because they couldn't admit mistakes.
Team 17 is showing they are listening and want to improve. I say we forgive and move on, but obviously should not forget.
As a fan of what elite dangerous used to be, I was very sad to see HLL going down the same path. But it seems they are steering away from the rocks. I am pleased to see this.
@@williammullinax6130 Yeah don’t get me wrong, I’m happy about this. This is awesome and is just the kind of news post we’ve been wanting to see!
It’s just some of these bugs are so incredibly long-standing that the community has gotten very impatient, and the trailer set off a whole shitstorm. Hence the “inferno”.
@@I_enjoy_some_things indeed, it still boggles the mind that the trailer got approved for public consumption... It was like throwing gasoline on a house fire.
Selective listening at best, maybe. The game has been out for how long and STILL not optimized?
🙌keep the realism thats what brought me to HLL we dont need another COD or BF run and gun FPS
one thing that I feel is big is sometimes it feels like my camera is in my character's chest instead of the head. I can be crouched behind a wall or something, can't see the enemy but they can see my head enough to headshot me.
Damn I was excited for the Finns but the games does really need some work done on it.
Yeah, giving a bit of life to existing content seems like the best idea for now. Since they’re working on a night map it would be cool if they added a Winter Map for Stalingrad since the battle didn’t end till February 1943.
So they will finally give brits normal Lee-Enfields?
Saving for a PC cause I missed this game, clocked 600 hours before I sold my first one.
I was so anxious this game would keep down a wrong path and be unrecognizable to the title I enjoyed for 3 years.
I needed this
When these changes go out I will probably return to the game. Glad to see they’re actually listening.
I’m happy they’re reverting the run speed back to normal. I’m tired of people zig zagging around while I’m shooting at them like it’s cod
same here. stupid zig zagging was so immersion breaking. i didnt even care if i killed the person doing it or not i just hate how stupid it looks like go play a different fuckin gane and pull that shit lol
Dude, stop being dramatic. The sprint speed is nowhere near cod levels and wasnt even that fast. All they had to do was fix tank speed to move as fast as their real life counter parts and its all good. I hate cod as much as the next guy but you females cry too much and are way too dramatic. Soldiers do not run that slow, especially when they carried equipment that wasnt anywhere near what i was carrying in the army.
@@vinceee_rdid you just use "females" as as an insult
@@Thepietro5000pp and youre crying about it.
@@vinceee_r you must be one of the guys jumping around and zig zagging 😂😂. It’s not about soldiers being able to run faster in real life, it’s about how the game plays.
They aren't changing course. They are still intent on changing the way the game plays. This is just them pausing to stop the bleeding and get videos like "Team 17 is listening to the community". They have stated they intend to change the underlying game in significant ways. They didn't even address bullet falloff damage issues, they are still implementing swan dives and other exploitable motion mechanics geared toward CoD crowd.
No they aren’t they are removing the sprint and dive to prone changes.
@@Tomofdahook17 as they stated "to reimplement them later" with extra changes. And they haven't reverted other core game changes like bullet damage. They also aren't abandoning the small rush style game modes, they're just pushing them off until the fire dies down a little.
@@crispy9175 The only way they should re-implement them is with a stamina system, if not there’s no real way to do so without breaking the flow of the game.
The game went through like 3-4 years of alpha and beta for a reason. Everything gameplay wise ended up nearly perfect before the handover to Team 17.
The bullet damage has really nothing to do with them. Black Matter are the ones who gave it it’s current implementation. Now, there are certainly hit registration issues that are definitely due to the servers, ping and having separate hit boxes on the arms rather than making everything from the belt up one shot kill. Sometimes you can hit someone in the chest with a bolt action from a few feet away and they’ll just eat the round. That they could definitely make better.
I’m certainly not opposed to them adding shorter game modes length wise but they should absolutely not lower the player count. They should add like 15-30 minute matches over only 1 or 2 objectives but still keep 100 player lobbies. That’s the only way to do that in my opinion.
Thank you for going through the briefing for us
'DeVs AcYuAlLy LiStEnEd!!' Yeah ok son, i'll believe it when i see it. If they deliver then i'll reinstall and review my review on steam.
U are Not him
Lets wait and judge by actions...not words 👀...they need to earn trust again...
I wasn't even aware they increased the sprint speed at some point but I did notice how hard it was to shake enemy infantry even in a light tank so maybe lowering the sprint speed a little won't hurt
I am very happy they are going to revert the movement speed change its one of the reasons i stopped playing which was a bummer because i really loved this game.
I like dive to prone. Honestly if they cut the acceleration speed in half, would be a good compromise.
Exactly. The old to prone was AWFUL! They can tweak but still need to keep it!
Awkwardly coming to a full stop just to prone has always been ridiculous and has got me killed countless times.
The is a small chance that they plugged to hole before capsizing.
It’s about bloody time. Let’s hope the legacy bugs get fixed.
Maybe the legacy bugs will be fixed once HLL 2042 comes out.
let's not give them too much credit, it's like thanking an Arsonist for putting out a fire they started....
15:50 this! Thanks for the wonderful content!
If these changes are implemented and the community returns to pre-patch numbers, I think i'll check out the game, I was going to this month, but I saw the player count going down and the recent reviews and didnt wanna buy a game on track to die
I don't want the fall to prone animation removed. Just remove 90% of the sliding from it. Or ehhh all of the sliding from it for that matter. The animation itself is good.
Also, it would be nice to have some moving targets in the upcoming firing range.
There are a couple glitches and exploits that are born out of the slide. Removing most of the slide might stop the exploit.
@@jamesfoss1627 Yup, keep the animation. Remove the slide.
The slide does make sense, it’s not exactly inaccurate as to how a soldier would move when getting contacted by a machine gun.
@@jameshartley6161 No the slide does not make sense. You can change direction mid slide. That's the stuff I am talking about/referring to. I don't think anyone would debate wheather or not some slight forward movement into the slide is realistic.
It's the broken change of direction in mid air that is absolutely stupid. And it would be more personal preference to have a little less forward slide.
@@rf2642
The directional change, I can’t argue with. I think you’re absolutely correct there. However I do think the forward slide makes sense.
my biggest problem with all this is that we've heard it all before at U11-12 from BM
before U13 from the new comunity manager and T17
I am curious what remains of it in the end and is implemented or then also works in the game
The rest of the roadmap is contingent on successful rebalance and revenue generation. They've been doing testing for Brecourt likely exclusively with new gameplay dynamics. They have to do a chunk of their play testing over again.
I previously left a comment on Alpine's poll... This update reeks of a production manager being forced to meet a deadline with a limited amount of employee resources, and a business decision being made on what the "minimum viable product" is.
Until it was ABUNDANTLY CLEAR that their revenue was suffering from their choices, an executive decision to scrap the plan was unlikely.
There are never enough employees to get a product release. Never enough improvements made. Executives have to get that cash to justify the purchase of the game from Black Matter.
They just accepted a HUGE shift in their business projections. It's incredibly bold and respectable to basically acknowledge your gamble for revenue increase was lost and you have to start over but have already spent millions on acquiring the intellectual property.
Bravo. Assuming they eventually improve the game after the revert. 😊
I am glad they didn't take the space flight sim Elite Dangerous route and just ignore the player base until your game withers into nothing. It's refreshing to see a company realize they made a mistake and own up to it. Gives me great hope for the future. HLL has the potential to grow if they do things right.
Great breakdown of the dev brief, thanks mono
I respect T17 for coming out and saying that they did not legitimately consider the impact the movement speed increase would have on the game. It shows that they are willing to take some accountability for their mistakes and furthermore fix and improve on them. But as some had said, it is also concerning that they thought it WOULDN'T Make a difference. Hopefully, they learn from their experience.
So glad they're bringing back PTE, it's so important for any new updates/patches. As for the speed increase, decreasing completely makes sense and then increase by increments to get the best result. Overall, most problems are fixable, it just takes time & testing. One thing that could be added to the British is the ability to build Vickers Heavy Machine guns the same way you build anti-tank guns. The fact that they are now willing to listen is a good first step, and hopefully the game will just get better. The practice range will be helpfull - I'm crap with automatic weapons. 😄
Great news! Well done Mono, your last vid was very well articulated and this one is as well.
The extra speed was actually nice .
This is not listening , this is damage control. Core issues will still be borked down the road because what they want for the game is not what we want for the game.
Till we actually see these changes being implemented into the game nothing has changed yet.
They didn't listen to the community, they stopped listening to the sound of money and they had to act!
Fair play to devs that actually take feedback from the community 👏. I would like to try a pacific map with japanese forces in the future.
it's good they seem to be trying to listen to the community and stabilize the game more.
I would like the dive to stay though I understand the issue with 15% speed boost on all elements in the game.
I agree with the dive to prone is the best movement mechanic they added to the game it just sucks that players always find a way to abuse a feature.
@@greggblack8205 There was a guy doing glitches with it to get easy kills. He basically merged himself with the wall of a house sliding into it in a particular way. It was letting him shoot through it without being able to be shot himself with an mg of all things. There was 0 approach on that position as well given that it was offensive so the entire south side of our position was completely lost due to an invincible mg allowing for the enemies to easily take it over and surround our troops.
@@greggblack8205 Basically I don't mind the feature but they have to remove the glitches first. To many ways to abuse it
this game has needed optimization for years. not new content. not new maps or factions. the actual health and quality of life of the game
Love your content Mono. You and Terry are the guys who actually hot me playing HLL a couple uears ago. I have taken a hiatus from the game since the "garbage" update but seeing this makes me want to jump back in. I appreciate all your hard work when you put content out and wish you the best over rhe next couple months. I'll be looking forward to you new content when you're able to get it out.
I'll have to see it to believe it
I for one wasn’t all too excited for the run speed when it came out but I truly enjoyed the dive to prone I really hope they don’t take that out. Also they should just take out the P14 and just switch it with the Lee Enfield SMLE or just use the no4 mk2 the British used those guns more than the P14
Thank you devs for listening
Gonna wait a minute for the water to settle before I get back into the game
The way the matches played out definitely changed with the running speed increase. Im excited to get back to the slow brutal grind 😊
Its sad seeing whats happening to HLL, reminds me of what happened to Squad post v-11 to today. I am still weary for you too, whenever devs end their apology saying stuff like "we're sorry for the large part of the community who wants these changes" when reality is different, it shows where their heart is, and it may be an antagonistic relationship going forward. It was the same with Insurgency Sandstorm too. They'd listen, but then keep implementing changes that were bad for the game. At least the player count has plummeted and reviews bombed so quick, so they're listening, but it may just be with a twisted arm.
Devs shouldn't buy a game unless they know and like its vision.
I argued a lot on the HLL sub reddit to reset the run speed. So glad they've been listening. Everyone who disagrees with the change can go kick rocks
The casual scum have been very upset on the discord over this and it's glorious.
I still think certain classes/loadouts should be faster then others, while some should be slow. For example mg's are probably to fast, while assault are probably to slow.
The run speed increase was stupid. On Foy I was just running across open fields with no fear and getting their rear garrisons with ease. It ruined the methodical approach or even the fear of being in the open for me.
Wow! This is exciting to hear!
I think the biggest issue is having spys on a team. They sit in discord and tell the other team where garrisons and o.p.’s are at.
Damn that’s cold
Dare i say its easy to put something in writing but whether or not the follow through is a different thing altogether
They should try a change to the the tank speed on road to be a little faster and terrain speed as is.
this just leads to a back and forth between armor and infantry speed buffs. the devs thankfully realized the correct call was to just revert the speed given it wasn't broken to begin with.
For me I think a short sprint with good speed is ok but there is no fatigue, you can run right down the whole map like Superman. Thirty or forty meters sprint then slow down would be more authentic. There is heavy breathing but no fatigue. Also you can run 200m stop do a head at 150m with perfect aim. I get frustrated when on the receiving end of this.
agreed, also loadouts should affect speed. A guy with a bazooka or machine gun should run slower than a guy with with a Thompson.
@@andywenner4807That would be a huge nerf to infantry gameplay, and would only serve to make more players play non-support roles like Riflemen and Assault (since they would be lighter), which doesn’t really help the team in the long-run
If they want to fix the move speed they should just give us a hidden stamina bar. Give us like 10 or 15 seconds of running like our character gives a shit about his own life, and then revert to the old run speed till you stop and catch a breather.
One of my friends also suggested inertia and momentium so you start slow but build up speed and can't zig zag really well.
inertia and stuff worked for dayz especially for the zigzagging bullshit but alotta people still complained. still i think its a good system to for preventing that
Despite all these flaws and problems I still love this game. Nothing feels as exciting as those special moments, you know the ones. The last minute wins, the fights against all odds, outnumbered and outgunned, but your squad prevails. Setting up the sneaky garrisons that win the match, the recon Vs Arty duels. Look forward to it becoming even better.
Need a Berlin map. I don’t know how they’d make it work considering the entire city was surrounded by the Soviets towards the end but it might be cool
wait why would the firefly be a heavy? it's a M4 with a 17pd, not a jumbo
Surely the German acceleration is a result of all that Meth?!?!!!
I'll come back as soon as the run speed is reverted. It affected a lot of the game for me. Stuttering got so much worse, people teleported around a lot. You can see it when people zig zag now, single frame teleportation of hitboxes is just not on.
The run speed itself isn't the issue, it's the fact that it made other bugs so much worse for me. The game was unplayable.
Did they add a server browser for xbox then? Or do I have to keep getting put on lobbies with 2 people?
I haven't notice a nerf to the grease gun. Still feel like I get headshots all the time with it.
i been maining it as support for like a month now cause i want the flamethrower lol i had a feeling there was a nerf and this confirmed it. the head shots still seem to be a one shot deal but i used to drop guys with body shots with 1 to 2 hits, yesterday one guy tanked thru 3 body shots took a 4th to drop him and i was only about 30 to 50 meters away like he wasnt far so idk there def was a nerf for body shots id say
3 rockets for bazookas? How about no..? Tanks are already hard to play as it is, and as they are also used in an anti-infantry role this would mean an abusive increase of firepower imho ... And that a single AT guy would deal with a heavy tank with a single ammo load, which i don't think is in the spirit of the game as it stands. As you mention, this kind of asymmetry is historical, bazookas had a 57mm caliber and Panzerschrecks/ofenrohr 88mm, penetration values were better for the latter. a personal suggestion, also to make rifleman class or rifle-handling classes/roles more interesting to play, would be to add a bayonet mechanics to the game (extended reach in close combat). it is not so complicated when you look at a game like Red Orchestra-Ostfront which was my all-time favorite shooter before HLL was released.
From a pure objective point of view:
I wouldnt touch the game even after this "we listen to the community" text. INGAME STORE means never something good, especially not in a "hardcore ww2" game. Which is essentially the main problem with HLL, the old team never adressed this and the new team seems to ignore one simple fact. They never fixed the garrison meta, never adressed the main problems of the game and everything mentioned is just a symptom for this core issue.
Who ever played the early versions will completly understand that they drived far far away from the core design and core idea the game once had.
What garrison meta
I think he means distances between Garrisons?
We heard everything before, fix this, fix that. The only thing they do now is undoing this cluster F...., let's not celebrate to fast...
After the fixes, if they gonna add new content, they should add british uniforms, especially desert uniforms for the brits and germans.
Diving was awesome for my medic :(
aw man I hope the polish army is still going to be added
Overall I think the brief shows respect for the community and that is super important going forward. We all feel we own part of this game (which depends so much on team work and good communication). A developer which models that respect, team work and good communication can have a huge long term success with this game. Conversely, I develop who does not display those virtues will not.
I'm pretty sure the increase in running speed and all the associated (dolphin diving etc) mechanics broke the netcode.
I'm ready for some more Axis teams to play with or against. Even if it's just Italian give us some variety in enemy teams.
They actually are definitely going to attempt to patch all the years of work by the community coming across bugs and glitches and what not. Like mono said in very beginning the are responding with exactly what everyone almost especially is veterans have been asking for . Ty can't wait.
I'm thinking of buying this game and really doubting if I should. So is the game worth it to buy now or should I wait?
I hope they add more things to the british, better lodauts and cosmetics for each maps, the tommy gun for the assult and squad lead roles, better rate of fire for the lee enfield and lmgs attach to tanks,
I’m personally hoping that one day my character will be able to wear shorts while fighting in El Alamein lol
I love dive to prone!! It’s bout the best thing that’s been introduced since remagen
Im hoping for a campaign like rising storm. And a pacific update would be very cool too. So much potential
We were 15 20 people that played together. Then last update hit us and we stopped playing 😢
Wait what 2 videos showing training for the game? Just recently purchased the game on console ps5.
I really like the dive to prone, because it’s great for medics😅
The new dev team got severally humbled by the community, the terrible trailer that embarrassed them, and the publisher likely breathing down their necks on totally NOT blowing up their most expensive purchase right away
Sprint speed was a good improvement, imo, but vehicles need to be increased as well.
tbh, i tried playing the game several times
but i've getting squads who do not talk at all...
it became weird lol
Is it just my server browser which is ridiculously slow on PC ???
The devs listened! That's amazing. I'm genuinely thrilled to see they are listening and now I can end my 6 week hiatus and start playing my favorite game again. Where are all those chums that were defending the changes saying we were being too dramatic? Back to COD already?
Make the tanks faster. They're a hell of a lot slower than they would have been irl
It's a video game, realism doesn't matter. What matters is that the different elements of gameplay flow well and are balanced against one another. Spawn timers and vehicle movement are all based around the older slower infantry speed. Either tweak everything else around the new speed or change it back to what it was. Devs chose the latter.
@@id2k. oh yeah I fully get that but imo the whole armour system needs a rework, it's way too simplistic
They should a 50cal on the back of the heavy tank that an infantry can use and stand on the back shooting infantry.
Just because they "listened" doesn´t mean they take it serious. They have to deliver to make believe them.
All these changes coming, i believe it when i see it. Wether its good or not remains to be seen. Not played this game for 2 months just not fun anymore.
All the newbies making pubs absolute ass recently are complaining it up on discord over some of these points. Hopefully t17 realizes this and continues with this plan.
Ill be glad when i see these words put into actions.
In my opinion, the problem with running in the open meaning instant death, is that at least half of the objectives in this game are in the open. Buildings or villages surrounded by fields with no concealment let alone cover. I think they should seriously look at adding more assets to some of the maps. make the grass a bit taller in open fields. add more varying terrain like trenches, foxholes, ditches, hills. Add more bushes and trees, The forest areas in this game are extremely bear with 6+ feet in between each tree. Then again render distance and framerate is already an issue on console. I just know that attacking feels like a chore even with a good team and well places spawns and airheads, a decent defending team can easily defeat a great attacking team on most objectives.
It‘s accurate tho. Infrantry platoons did avoid open fields etc in general for a variety of reasons
Good news running speed spoils the gun play
Fingers crossed 🤞
"listened to" is actually a very liberal use of the word. more like "are willing to evaluate changes". they're still using the PTE to go over the changes they included. instead of reverting back , they want to waste player's times on a PTE just to say "okaaaaaay, we will revert the sprint speed...."
as if the negative reviews and dwindling player numbers ($$$$) had nothing to do with it.
Dive to prone should stay

No.
I can see if they want to change the run speed but I think they should keep the run to prone mechanics. Second it’s crazy how they made the US bazooka weaker than the German one when historically speaking Germans captured a U.S. bazooka and just added the shield to theirs. If it wasn’t for it they would have still been using the panzerfaust also they got to fix the vault mechanics still.
Are they gonna revert the last on console is what I'm really concerned about
My only concern with the roadmap being put on hold is a conspiratorial based fear that they decided to pull a DICE BFV dick move and concentrate on the next Hell Let Loose game and not pump any resources into this one considering all the flack they got.
Considering it’s an indie game and not a franchise or anything, I doubt that they have any plans for a sequel
