- We finally got our hands on the new Leica M6, before we get it open and see what's inside we wanted to do an unboxing to share with everyone that might be curious. Hope you enjoy Connor having his first look at it.

My brand new 2022 M6 scratched film. It also had a defective ISO dial so you could not set it to 100, 200, 400, but only in between settings. It took Leica months and several attempts to fix. Leica told me they had a batch of defective pressure plates - so there are lots more out there like mine. And as they have not done a recall, there is a chance that you can get one too. Long thread about it on l-camera forum
Imagine spending £4500 on a camera body and its defective lmao
No need to imagine, that is what they did.@@Robstrap
The first batch of M6's were branded Leitz hence the Leitz logo.
We learned this right after filming. 😅 it's an interesting switch though! There's also the few cameras that only have "M6" written on the top left instead of "Leica M6". Lots of little iterations of the design, yet all of them iconic in their own way. Thanks for watching!

Great video. The new M6 is more similar to a Leica M6 from 1985 than the silver model used as an old M6 example in this video. The old box was smaller than the new box but certainly very similar. Strap included was 14253 in 1985.
been using my new m6 now for almost a month. love it.
Glad to hear it! It's good to know there are some out in the wild. (-: thanks for watching!

I went to your website, and was surprised to find you in Finland! your english was so good and also soothing! I'm from Uruguay, I guess you won't be able to narrate my life as one subscriber said LOL :)
I'm actually from the US! Just came over to Finland for work. (-: y puedo tratar de hablar los eventos de tu vida pero mi español es tan mal que tu definitivamente no lo quieres.. 😅Thanks for watching!

@@Kamerastore jajajaj no imaginaba que eras de USA, but the store in Finn,is truly awsome!
Thx for the video!
That silver/chrome leica body is so much nicer though ;)
Let's see if Leica brings this finish back as well.
PS: We need more film camera manufacturers. Enough with digital please🙏
" Das Wesentliche" means " the essential"....🙂
That makes sense! What isn't "essential" to this video is me butchering German pronunciation, though, so I'm glad I didn't try. 😅 Thanks for watching!

Great video.

Your voice is mesmerizingly soothing. Can you narrate my life?
"and then you went to Kamerastore.com to find good deals on checked and serviced camera equipment..." how does that sound? :D ha, thanks for watching!

Maybe one day I shall own one of these, you dont need it I’ll take it free of charge. Amazing video as always
Conor, such a gorgeous camera, isn’t it? I am pretty positive this is going to be the one to pick up, for me.
It's quite a piece indeed! Definitely a unique piece of history worthy of some respect and admiration. & an impressive feat for the film community to motivate a big company to reproduce something like this. Thanks for watching!

Wonder why they don't use the M-A's metal dial on the back, looks and feels much better, for 5k+ it should not be plastic haha
The metal dial on the M-A doesn’t actually do anything as the camera does not have a meter, it is just a reminder. The plastic dial has electronic contacts behind it.
my dream camera
O well o well, what a sexy camera that is! Yes like you sayd the issue with the paint will not be present on the new M6, becorse the new body is a full brass body. The old one were made out of zink i think ?!? I dont know it exactly. But the paint issue was a chemial recation between the paint and the base metal, and with the full brass body, this will not happen. What a lovely camera that is... I love to shoot with my Canon P and Canon 7sz. But for a new Leica M6 i would give it away very fast!
I'm assuming that the top plate of the new M6 is brass and will hence show that sweet sweet patina with time?
You're correct! It should wear in a very similar way to the MPs and other brass cameras. We love a camera that shows use 👍 Thanks for watching!

Looks neat, I'll take 4. 🤑
And how many credit cards will you be putting this on, sir? 🤔🫠 thanks for watching!

@@Kamerastore Let me... I will check my lotto account. Might take awhile or forever... 😀
The packaging leaves a lot to be desired. I think I 'll look for a MP. My old M6 has the Leitz logo.
I have an MP and an older leitz m6, I just traded the m6 for another mp
LEItz CAmera
My 60 year old Nikon does not have bubbling on it's finish, LOL.
I own a M6TTL and have no idea why Leica didn’t re-release the TTL model which had improvements on the original M6. I’m not going to get a new M6 because I also own a MP.
🥹😍😱
Good I didnt purchase a used M6 NOS as an Investment :D
Probably still a good investment! I can’t imagine the new one affecting the price of used ones much. Leica wouldn’t shoot their used market in the foot considering they still profit from used camera sales and repairs. Thanks for watching!

@@Kamerastore The biggest factor is supply and demand. Demand has been steadily increasing (thanks to social media) over the past few years. However, the supply of old M6 decreased every year, because no new ones were produced and the old cameras were lost or destroyed. The decreasing supply is now corrected by new Leica M6 cameras, so the prices of old (not special edition) M6 rangefinders must decrease. That is the law of the market. Not much Leica can do about it.
Only thing I could imagine would be investing in a silver version. But there is no certainty that Leica wont start producing that in a couple of years too.
Best Regards from Berlin
