      @@madspallesen156 good question. Mainly stopped down. I don’t think there is much point as out of focus doesn’t really show through f2 on 28mm. I would say it matters more 50mm and longer. Mostly I shoot around f5.6 depending on weather and film stock. :)

    • @jamie.dop_
      @jamie.dop_  Před 5 měsíci

    How come you jumped the latest Voigtlander 28mm f1.5/f2 versions?

    • @jamie.dop_
      @jamie.dop_  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Good question. Mainly due to the fact Leica lenses are likely to hold their value far better. I have lost too much money owning and selling Voigtlander lenses. Although I believe they really are just as good in so many aspects

    • @MGraslund
      @MGraslund Před 5 měsíci

      @@jamie.dop_ I first wanna say that I fully respect your choice, been there and done that myself, but as an argument regarding the value; my experience is a bit different. First you pay ~four times more for a Leica lens, New or pre-owned, then you do for a Voigtlander lens. A new Leica lens also looses about the same % (or even a bit more) in value as a new Voigtlander lens when/if you resell it. If you don’t buy a limited edition lens from Leica that is. If you buy a pre-owned Voigtlander lens you can actually resale it for about the same amount that you bought it for. That’s my experience anyways. I don’t wanna be “that guy”, just wanna give some perspective on this matter as it is a very common argument and Voigtlander produces very high quality lenses for a fraction of the cost for a Leica lens. You can buy a lot of expensive film instead for that money;)

    When you were running after that woman I was just thinking about what she could have been thinking with someone sprinting behind her. I really try to avoid doing things like this after having had many discussions with women over how they sometimes feel when walking alone. If I’m not there in the moment, it’s gone. It’s not worth potentially making someone feel nervous or uncomfortable for a shot. For me.

    • @jamie.dop_
      @jamie.dop_  Před 5 měsíci

      I agree. Almost think modern architecture suits B&W and historic buildings suits colour when it comes to film. What you think?

    • @acmdv
      @acmdv Před 5 měsíci +1

      @dop_ I think it can also depend on what setting the building is in. e.g. surrounded by concrete with no aspects of nature such as trees, flowers, etc then I would go with B&W. But say a building is part of an rural estate like a stately home then colour would be better because of the natural setting. If I were shooting a big building with lots of glass & reflections of the sky then either can be good. I think a lot of it can also come down to person preference as well.

    Cool video 👍 are you following the meter in the m6 or using it as a base then changing to suit what you’re going for?

    • @jamie.dop_
      @jamie.dop_  Před 5 měsíci

      Great question. It’s fairly subjective. I tend to set my exposure a stop over. So if I am shooting 400 speed film then I will set to 200 and always meter to the darkest point I want to make sure I have detail in and not worry about the highlights to much unless they are a critical part of the composition. In a studio setting I will always meter through an external light meter to prioritise skin tones. Hope that made sense! Thanks for your question Michael. J :)

    I never understood the hype over the M6 if you use the same lens you use on your M6 with another film camera the images are literally the same, film stocks are your censor so i guess its just the design of the camera is what everyone loves but the photos from the film don’t make the camera it’s just the lens that does.

    • @jamie.dop_
      @jamie.dop_  Před 5 dny +1

      @@Jparkss yeah I get your point. It’s all about the glass. The Leica lenses are what allows your images to separate from the rest of analog users. You right, the stock is the sensor. Gotta say, I love the M6, think it looks and feels amazing however the shutter slap on cameras like the Canon AE1 is just amazing and makes the M6 feel a bit nothing. None the less, if the M6 makes you wanna pick it up every time you leave the house then it’s worth it! Thanks for commenting. J

For awhile I didn’t understand the hype but it’s just the quality of the camera and build of it that makes it so sought after. I think a lot of people give misinformation about the camera saying the images are so great b it it’s the lens they use. Ur video wasn’t like that at all.
