- Welcome back to another record store tour in MI. Ive been in CO for over 2 months and Im still showing MI record stores. More yet to come! This was extra special as i spent time with JT from the channel- So I Married A Record Collector. I also brought back some old friends back into my collection.

Back home in Michigan ! Good to see JT with you on this one. I'm fortunate that I have several Flock Of Seagulls, mostly from new old Tower Records stock, glad you got the self titled with " I Ran" ! Love me some 80's 🎵
Some of that 80s music really takes me back to my early 20’s JT. Nostalgic music I was told they are all bald now. Don’t screw around with your hair!

Dry cool record store and nice meet up with JT. I have the first two Devo albums, none after that. I’ve been getting a lot of 80s albums lately. I like the darker stuff over the pop albums. Cheers Steve.
Jack, say it isn’t so, are you going to the dark side of music! Are you going to wear black and out on eye liner next? Lol. My personality usually gravitates to happier poppier stuff, music that makes me smile and want to dance!
One of my favorite record stores! I have found a lot of gold there. Also lots of great food options in Traverse City! My dad and I went to a RSD there.
Food is great in TC Michael . I wish I could have afforded to stay up there more often but prices were over my expense account lol. I always found RPM expensive but you have a knack for finding deals!
Hey Steve! Nice you could meet up with JT. Watching this I thought, why can't all record stores be laid out like this. I too found it weird their were no Sabbath albums at the alphabet cross, Glad you could fill some holes in your collection. Cheers!
Steve, the best part about the VC for me was traveling and meeting other collectors. Some have channels, some don’t, but they all have the same passion. Now I don’t travel so I do miss seeing all the new stores and meeting up with people. I hope to build connections out here

I bought a copy of DEVO's "Freedom Of Choice" at an antique mall in Rockford, IL several years ago when we were down there for a wedding. Yes, I went record shopping while a wedding rehearsal was going on. -JT
JT the crazy thing was that is was a huge weather change as the next day I was driving in ice and snow. That was nuts. I use to to see Freedom of Choice everywhere. Suddenly when I want it. Ant find it anywhere. Happens all he tie until I order it off discogs. The I find it everywhere
Space Age Love song was the second song I learned on guitar. That album has incredible memories for me too. FYI, it’s probably the easiest song to learn on guitar but who cares. That song is killer. Another great video my friend. Thanks for sharing.

Flock of Seagulls is so quintessentially 80s, I always liked their hit
' Wishing'.
Always like me a bit of Human League..I really like the ' Unlimited Orchestra' that was essentially a dub remix of Dare, the band completely disowned it.
Rob, this was definitely an 80s throwback episode It’s the nostalgia of the music isn’t it. It takes us back to our young years as we planned on how we were going to conquer the world. Oh to be naive again lol

Funny how albums like a Flock of Seagulls can become hard to find Todd. The craziness of record collecting in the 2020’s. You remember the Suburbs record. Got introduced to them back in MN in the mid 80’s. Thanks for always dropping by Todd
What Up, Professor? That Was (Not Was) is an AWESOME album - I love that album so much - I only have the cassette though, I'd love to get it on CD or Vinyl. Flock Of Seagulls? Wow, never would have figured you were into that. Devo - like some of the stuff they did, but not everything. Cameo - same thing. Max Headroom - LOVED the short lived series, have it on DVD, what an imaginative concept it had, loved it all the way, and loved "Paranormia" too. Nice tour too! Have a good weekend, sir!
I was really bummed when Max was pulled off the Tele but it was a little too quirky I think for prime time I didn’t like Flock of Seagulls in the 80s. As I have aged it has become a nostalgia record of my early 20s. It really represents to 80s with the hair and the outfits. The first Devo album is a perfect album for me, love it to death. There next few albums were good but not like the first TC. Paranoia, wonderful song

Omg……I sooooooo wanted to be in that record store with you and JT, what a great store! That Black Sabbath sign was fantastic, but why not surrounded by Sabbath albums?? lol, why am I not surprised Flock of Seagulls are all bald. You screw around with you hair as much as they did bad things are going to happen lol. Their hair was their signature more than the music I think. Good memories from my early 20s. RPM is a nice record store but it can be pricey. You need to dig for the deals Mike. I told them my name was Mike in hopes to get a discount but they didn’t believe me sadly
Jt has a great channel. That's a very nice store. LOL - I thought you were going to pull out a $300.00 punk album. Flock of Seagulls; you should have asked. That's classic Cameo; that's the album that introduced me to their music. I worked my way backwards. Those 80's titles are bringing back a lot of memories. I'm going to dig out my Art of Noise albums. Great stuff, Steve.
You had an extra of that, never thought of asking Mark, I was on a quest lol. I loved Art of Noise, still love their version of Peter Gunn. So 80s sounding but wonderful stuff

Hey Steve! I'm with you - Flock of Seagulls were such a joke with me and my crowd back in the day. Now... I love that album lol. I Ran is great, but I also love Space Age Love Song. (Was) Not Was - again I agree. Really... odd... album. Ahh Max Headroom. I remember when that show was everywhere. And then nowhere. Anyway, some great '80s pickups! Cheers!
Dave, nostalgia can play such a big part of what we buy when we get older. There is a lot of albums from the 70s I hated but now love due to memories. The power of music

Boy, that is a tough question. I have always been fortunate to be able to travel and take time to hit stores. I have a mountain of record store shirts in my closet. Someday maybe that will be a video. Coolest record store shirts.

I can tell you right now Darrell, pricing is a little stupid out here. My old store is still where I buy a lot of my stuff. I have 2 or 3 more record store tours in MI to show. Crazy how many I did this year before the move. I hope work slows down soon so I can do some in CO. It’s been exhausting

It was all back to the 80s this week. I pulled out my Michael Jackson replica jacket and wore it to work with a single glove. I looked pretty dope, word up. I got two more records store visits from MI. Man did I back up the video at the end lol. Nice records store but tends to be on the higher side of pricing. Beautiful area of MI Word Up Mike

I have tried to find it, even at records shows with not much luck. And to think I use to really dislike them Anthony. Nostalgia helps us see things differently
Hi Steve - I did a few years in Traverse City. RPM an excellent store & Lil Bo's nice comfort food. Nice 80's pick-ups ..thats a fine Was Not Was album ! Walk The Dinosaur 🦕 . I actually like the second Flock Of Seagulls album Listen the best. Good to see my Yankees tame the Tigers 🐅 over the weekend with a sweep. Tigers pitching staff looked good but they need some hitters.
Pretty much everyone tames the Tigers. Sad thing is the CO Rockies are even worse. Should be easy to get tickets to their games. It was a very 80s pick up wasn’t it, call it nostalgia
Very nice video Steve, as always. I too like Flock of Seagulls and would like it on vinyl. I «only» have a best of on CD which I suppose is basically that album with a couple of omitions and a couple of non album singels?

I never thought about Was Not Was either but the price was great so I grabbed it, not essential though. Morten, Greatest Hits is really all you need from Flock of Seagulls. I should have gone that route. Devo was huge in my college years, it was radical and different music

OMG, I love bookstores Mike and obviously so do you. I love the smell of a used bookstore! I had to get rid of so many books with the move but I kept what meant the most. Still don’t have room for them all Mike

No used records on the wall is the opposite of Going Underground. Freedom of Choice is also my drop off point for Devo. I didn’t realize Word Up was from 86. I have the 7” of Fascination.
RPM really has a lot of new but like you I want to see some of the cool used items on the wall, I really think they would sell more instead of have OG to dig around for it. No Flock of Seagulls Richie? This was my 80s bringing it back edition

Hey Steve never knew a thing about Cameo but came to know via Scottish group GUN who I really like and has a video on YT " Live at King Tuts" that's so funky and rockish at the same time!!! Always liked their lead guitarist and his smokin leads...Anyway checkout their version of WORD UP...the absolute best!!! I thought that was their original song until I found a 12" EP by Cameo while thrifting. Blew my mind that they were the originators of word up!! And since you like Funk gotta check out GUN'S YT video of "Everyone's A Winner"...this is funk/rock at its best!!!
Louis, I will have to check that out. I have not heard of GUN but I love both of those songs you mentioned Okay I checked that out Pretty cool a heavy band doing funk. They were quite funky
@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 glad you liked Steve...and if you're not familiar with Lee Michaels I think you might like his style of funky organ playing. He's got an album called BARREL on AM records circa 1970 that dismisses the theory that Caucasians don't have soul...check it out!..and just the other night I listened to an English group that put out 2 albums and dis6appeared Anyway check out their album "City of Sin" by THIS PICTURE...really nice catchy tunes, vocals and guitars.
