Day 4 Lesson notes & help: ►►www.andyguitar.co.uk/courses/...
Welcome to Day 4 of this free 10 day acoustic guitar series!
Today we're checking out an easy guitar RIFF! Most of you will have heard of the term 'guitar riff' before, but do you know what it means?
What is a 'Riff'?
A 'riff' is something we can play on guitar that is short, repetitive and recognisable as a particular song. The riff and song we'll be learning today is Wild Thing by The Troggs - one of the most recognizable guitar riffs EVER!
Other famous riffs you may like to try include Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple or Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes! However, these are more suited to electric guitar - Wild Thing works for both acoustic AND electric guitar!
Remember - The main purpose of this course is to encourage you to pickup your guitar everyday for 10 days - even if it's just for 10 minutes!

I've learned a lot since making this original 10 day series and have put everything I've learned into making this new series even better, especially for those who struggle with this one and want more support and help jamming along up to speed.
I truly hope it helps the absolute beginners out there achieve their goals, or helps rekindle a love for guitar for anyone revisiting learning in 2023!
Thanks learning a lot on this but definitely going to sign up for the new one !
I'm loving ur course, my dream is to be a rockstar when I grow up and ur really helping me to achieve it, thank you!

Where can I buy the thing for playing the guitar
where i can find the entire chords and riff by order, start to finish?
I'm not only learning guitar with u but english too.😀
Good job
Good for you😊
I'm also ❤ 7:16
What are your primary languages.... I'm currently learning 2 other languages...?
I have made more progress in less than 5 days than i had in my whole school life. Thanks Andy😃
Have you mastered D?
@@AdityaRaj222 Yes it seems tough at first 2 days of playing, but then in a week, you master the D chord. You also must have mastered it by now🎸
Bro me too
Same💯
Today is fourth day... time traveller
I've spent almost 10 hours mastering up to this lesson and it feels so good to finally play a real, enjoyable song.
10hr????!!!! He said we only had to play 10 mins a day!!!
wow 10 hrs too long but im fast learner i even learned the full version of wildthing in the same day
@max yaboi try to time it right
Your fingers are strong
How's your hand now?
I can't really believe it, but I'm actually making steady progress every day and seeing results already! So far I'd highly recommend this course to anyone. If I can do it, then anyone can!
Edit: my fingers stopped hurting today. Only took four days!
Same
congrats!!!! same I am making progress too!
Really I was playing every 20 minutes and in 3 days I no longer feel pain
@@mariaalghannam7930 great for you
Such a good feeling. Andy is such an amazing teacher
I love this man...for 2 years I couldn't even get the correct sound from the chords and now look at me.. I AM PLAYING WILD THINGS *strum* *strum*
Shinchan Nohara Right! I have made more progress in the last five days, then I did for a whole year in school

Shinchan Nohara ~~~I forgot about The Trogs
Same bro same
I hear you, I've been playing 2 wks and am thrilled to play wild thing!!! Yay to Andy👏
I never picked up a guitar until the Mrs got me one for Xmas, which I kind of regretted her getting me it because I became a little overwhelmed at the task of trying to learn it. I scoured everywhere on the internet and to be honest I was going to just let it sit in the corner of the living room as it just seemed so complicated...until I came across Andy and now after every lesson I feel like I'm accomplishing something. Thanks Andy you are a star!

TheHorse70 Yes he is a big blessing...
Yes I couldn't agree more. Andy is so very thorough and easy to follow. You couldn't ask for a better instructor. I just turned sixty and I am determined to play the guitar. Thanks Andy for your video's. Your the best. Although I'm a bit disappointed you swapped out Lennon's Imagine pic for Blondie. :(
I can relate with the part where you said you are overwhelmed with trying to learn it.

I was walking home and saw a guitar in a trash bin, grabbed it...£5 on strings £12 on a guitar tuner. and discovered you....Can't believe I'm on day 4...… Love it -- Your Grate .. Thank you -- X
That guitar is probably cursed bruh
@@blackbirdnoodle9546 or maybe somebody just bought a new guitar and for some reason decided to abandon this one,lol

You didnt have to buy guitar tuner you can just download the app
His cheese grater? What about his cheese grater?
I hate the D 😭😭😭
Updated 2020: I mastered the D chord and I can now play barre chords and switch chords easily. All you need is practice and patience, you can do it!!!
nasser yousif it gets easier. It's the same fingering as G on the ukulele. It took me a whole week to get G so I'm already used to D. It gets a lot easier if you practice
nasser yousif v rnM
Why????
Same, my thumb always hurts when I try to play it
Me to... :(
Going to be honest, the first 3 days took about 9 days for me to get it down but days 4 and 5 have been amazing thank you!
Been practicing all day with Wild Thing! 4-5 hours of just straight guitar playing!
Dedication! FUCKING LOVE IT :D
How are you on guitar now (after 3 years)
@@barlas2740 I bet he nails Wild Thing now
if you just practice learning around 20 cords and come back to this tutorial a week later, it seems so easy
@@motschga 😂😂😂
This fourth day lesson really put a smile on my face. Plenty of practice to go but feels great putting all the steps together
I was playing and dropped my pick into my guitar:(
There are two kinds of players, those who have dropped a pick into the sound hole, and those who will.

thanks man! ive been teaching myself for a while now but ive been doubting my ability because ive not been able to pick that many songs up, but i watched a few of these videos today and ive been picking them up fast. its a real confidence boost to know that i actually can play!
I'm in the same boat. Was trying to learn on my own for about a year now but I wasn't getting anywhere. These lessons are helping so much though.
TheMightyLion yeah same
i can't do that thumb technique because my hand is too short :(
use your foot?
I can relate so much to this
Youre not the only one
Practise makes a man perfect
Cream Pie same...am trying and still nope if i put my thumb on the 6th string my fingers can't reach the cords
Whenever you reach around the guitar with your entire hand, I just get reminded of how small my hands are, and how it was a problem that caused me to stop wanting to learn last time I attempted :/ but I've been told it will get easier over time - but I find it hard to imagine all of the chords ever being possible to reach

Welcome to day four everyone! Things are getting slightly quicker now, but a tad easier. Minor chords next. Keep it up. 👍
I said it before, I'll say it again: Knight this man
Thank you Andy ! Finally some one that can teach music/guitar. Almost everyone else on CZcams just wants to show off their playing which does nothing to help someone just learning. Keep it up Andy, and keep those lessons coming !
Andrew your videos are mind blowing! They help me a lot as a beginner 😊
Thanks fore the feedback Mayank - glad you like them! All the best with your playing buddy! :)
now that's an understatement! my friend introduced this video to me and since then i haven't been the same.

I'm blown away. I'm playing something so fun in just three days. even though it's not perfect. it's so much better. It's so encouraging. Thanks a ton.
This course is amazing! Just picked up a guitar for the first time two days ago and thanks to your course can already play a few songs. Loving it! By far the best CZcams beginners course I have come across. Thank you!
i was wondering why we were practising the same notes, and when i started practicing other songs switching between them was a mile stone easy than when i originally started. thank you for your videos
Best thing bout this is his cheeky smile at the end for like 10 seconds 😂😂😂

Update: 08/10/2023 - One month Mark
This day, one month ago, I picked up the guitar for the first time. It was a childhood dream of mine to own a guitar which I have completed at the age of 25. Now I'm on the self-learning part, with youtube and free tabs ofc.
I was fortunate enough to stumble upon Andy Sir's free classes here.
I started day 1, then day 2..I also saw upto day 4. Learnt E,A & D chords. But my transition was weak.
Somewhere he said "the real joy of playing guitar is when you are able to play a real song."
So i decided to go learn what i can of a song i really loved. Not so popular song (Choo Lo- By The Local Train).
I learned the intro for it. It taught me about hammer-on's. Today I play it really well.
Then i learned Hedwig's Theme (Harry Potter) fingerstyle and also learnt to write basic guitar tabs on apps.
Now AFTER A MONTH, I am BACK TO LEARNING the Remaining classes starting again from Day 3 & 4.
In between i was practicing the basic chords of E,A and D and can now easily switch between them quickly.
So day 3 and 4 only took 10 mins or so each. (So practicing transition is must. He said this in Day 1)
So I just want new learners to remember that it is ok to take a little break (Not Quit), go practice the chords taught here and then come back after awhile (meanwhile practice something you like)
Everyone is on their own timeline. I honestly say tho, I Prefer A chord now the way Mr.Andy has taught. It doesn't sound right the other way. 🤕
I blindly trusted what Mr. Andy taught and it payed off. Don't quit guys.
Thank you @AndyGuitar. You are a Gem of a person.💙
P.S I have an TARGET GOAL to Fingerstyle play Beggin' (by Madcon or Maneskin'- and Play as well as a youtuber who put up video)
These lessons are so great. I'm still very clunky but can feel myself improving every day. My Dad used to sing this song to me when we were cycling together when I was very young :)
I think I'm doing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's so motivating to see all those people, including myself, making progress in playing guitar thanks to you Andy! Never thought I'll be able to achieve this dream of playing any musical instrument but here we are! Thank you so much Andy, you're a bless!
Me: playing
Also me: puts pick in guitar on purpose cuz why not
I have been a whole year trying to learn guitar from bunch of videos, these three lessons seems to be absolutely the best
Andy! I've been practicing for a couple weeks and my fingers have finally started to get familiar with the strings. I like feeling the little calluses on the tips, it makes me feel excited to keep practicing. Thanks for your lessons, and for your awesome attitude
Well done Makynzie, all the best and enjoy your playing! 🎸
I picked up my brother's guitar out of boredom and I rlly didn't expect to learn in just 4 days .. Thank you Andy, u are great 😄
Finished off lessons 1-4 in less than 24 hours, and I'm already playing a few songs, thanks alot Andy.
omg I'm on my third day playing the guitar and am so happy i can play this groovy and recognizable riff!! This makes me full of excitement for further learning how to play the guitar!!! thank you so much for sharing you tutorials!!
Love your style of teaching. Helping me cope while "staying at home" in Virginia, USA during the days, or months, or
COVID 19.
Really appreciate you! Using the chords you are teaching applying the few I've learned so far to worship songs. Feel like I have grown already.
Andy, thanks for getting me started. I've been playing on and off for 2 weeks. Around work and keep going back and forth (which is great). At lesson 4 now and loving it. I think you're a great tutor and really easy going and your tutorials are so accessible. I love music; used to play violin years ago and grew up listening to The Damned, idolising Captain Sensible and Paul Gray on bass, having a ton of fun now. Thanks again Andy 💜
Andy I have to thank you - I've been playing guitar for a long time and my hardest issue is changing chords. I decided to go back and relearn and found your channel. I was taught poorly on how to do chords comfortably and this has made changing chords easier despite feeling awkward on finger placement. Thank you!
Thank you so much. 46 years old and always scared of the guitar but always wanted to do it. Simply loved this session and so clever how you break down constituent parts in an unpatronising way. Very tallented.
I have had a guitar for years and tried to learn myself every time gave up but this time when i picked it up and followed your lessons i have finally started to make real progress and learned a lot thanks man really appreciate these lessons.
At first, I was going to give up until I found your videos. You are not just teaching us, you also play along with us like a beginner. That is a huge encouragement for us beginners. I enjoy learning guitar every time I watch your videos. Thank you so much! Keep up the good work!
The amount of views decreased tremendously as the these guitar lesson days progess. Simply shows how many people gave up already. All the best to everyone still continuing and struggling.
Andy I'm learning lots from you and I've only been playing the guitarlele for just 1 month and a week so 5 weeks! I'm on to lesson 5!
Andy I cant believe 😪 it . Finally I am getting it. Thanks to you. 😊 changing chords faster and using the techniques . My second month as a beginner.
Your awesome.
Andy you’re the best!love your energy!
Thanks Andy !!! These lessons are really well thought out for beginners. I'm getting so much better at the guitar
+Sue LM Great to hear Sue- well done!!
I am really enjoying your 10 day course in lockdown. Thanks Andy 😊
I play this with easy now and have been learning only a few weeks. Just stick with it. Fair play Andy for putting these videos on. Very s
Easy to learn
Really appreciate what you're doing here Andy. Been trying to teach myself for a year and now I'm finally getting somewhere.
Practicing a lot longer than 10 minutes.... but okay, my neighbours are still around
Great to hear, keep at it! 🎸
I love you Andyyyyy ♥️♥️♥️thanks for everything 🥰
Andy you are a great teacher I started playing a week ago on February 4 and it's happening !!!
Thank you I'm learning a lot from you 😊❤️💋
I love your lessons they are so rewarding im playing from 3 days and when i learn a new song i feel so happy and motivated even though its easy. not like other lessons i have tryed to just change chords for hours without makeing any rhythm and playing actual song.
Dude, thank you for these tutorials! Great, easy chords for me as a beginner
I feel like I'm an expert since I accomplished my first riff ever waaa thank you so much Andy, i will now proceed to day 5 wieeee
Excellent series, really gives me a feeling of progress (I like that there is a lot of drilling in these three chords rather than over-burdening in memorising loads of them, but not having the technique to use them)
The way you teach is amazing. Thank you
hi andy thanks your videos are tops I'm actually learning something as a beginner
Hey Andy, Thank you very much for your lessons, your enthusiasmn really makes it so fun to learn to play the guitar, im really glad i found your Channel
Looking forward for more amazing Content, keep it up man!!
Superb tuition, thank you! 🎶
Andy, Thank you so much for your help in breaking down the finger structure. I have huge fingers but I am learning to figure chords out because of your help! So gratifying
U need more subs....seriously man thanks to u i feel like im achieving things in every lesson i do....thanks again
thank you andy
Thank you its really getting better for me
Hi Andy, I've bought and downloaded your beginners course and really like how I can play songs straight away. Really excellent course and material. Would recommend this to anyone wanting to learn how to play. Brilliant, thanks so much, I'm having so much fun. Phil
man, this lessons are sick. thx 🙏
He teaches Perfect !!!! I will buy his tutorials off his website.
Thank you for this awesome video. This riff will help me practicing chord changes and simultaneously *playing* guitar as well.
Favorite lesson by far! This one is awesome!
I love how he uses such old songs and expects *all* people to know them. I'm not complaining, but most of them I haven't ever heard before 😅
Week 3 in. Going strong! If you ever read this message, Andy, know that you made a positive difference in my life, and I appreciate that very much!
Hi Andy! I just want to say a giant thank you! I just started your course and it all finally starts to make some sense to me! I love your positive attitude and the fact that you make everything seems sooo easy :) I finally believe I will rock in being guitarist and I will do it step by step with Andy! :) Hello from Poland!
You are the best man! Keep doing what you love and spread the love.
I sooo appreciate your lessons ! I have been able to pick up the chords and songs with much ease. Thank you thank you !
P.s. Absolutely adorable when you sing "wild thing I think I love you" the first time 💓 made my day ! Lol
Thanks man 🤙🏽
+Franchesca Campbell haha loved filming that tune and lesson. Thanks for the support!
Really appreciate the lessons. I want to play guitar with my granddaughter. I’m looking for a guitar with wider string spacing for my big hands. I’m sure you hear that a lot, but in my case I can literally pass a quarter through my wedding ring....
You have helped me so much!! Thank you for explaining this so easily. I'm having a blast!
Andy your a Genius! I learnt E A D and now I can put them together. The grin on my face when I played the first 2 chords and it sounded like wild thing. I’m staying with lesson 4 for a bit until I can play the riff a bit better but thank you so much for the free lessons !👍
Hey Andy, you should make a patreon account or something cause your lessons are really valuable and I'd love to give back.

Daniel Valdivia wtf dude chill out, you are not obliged to pay for his patreon account(if he has one). It’s “D.O.N.A.T.I.O.N.”.
Daniel Valdivia yes but some people can, and the people that can give back should be allowed to. Patreon is a donation service not a subscription service.

Andy, thank you. For real, you're great man!
Thank you so much for these videos. I was a total beginner and have made much progress. Your lessons are lively and to the point. You teach us great, recognisable songs, which is very motivating. Your teaching is fantastic. Congrats, your videos are ideal.
I’m so late to this series but my god I’ve made so much progress in the last few days I am SO happy
I did paid class for 2 years and i literally remember nothing but the C and F chord and I never played any songs. Now look at me playing wild thing!
Andy, Thank you! I'm 52 and have always wanted to play, just afraid to get started. I purchased a guitar 2 weeks ago. I am so grateful for finding your lessons because your teaching style is broken down in such a way, a brand-new beginner like me can follow along and understand. I'm still fumbling with the transitions but I'm moving forward and will continue to practice. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
How are you doing keep it up mate
Bounced around so many different videos but yours are the absolute best! Feels so good to play and actually think 'I may actually be getting the hang of this!'
I’m loving this thanks so much
