I wouldn't lie. I almost want to cry when going from E Minor to D Minor.
Play E minor with finger 2 and 3, and get finger 1 ready to change for D minor, then just move 2 and 3 down.
Had always wanted to learn to play the guitar, but life just got in the way. Now I am 81 and so decided to really learn it. Bought a guitar and have begun your lessons. Has been much fun so far,. Now tackling lesson 6. I am taking it slowly, making sure I really got each lesson. Thank you Andy for offering these lessons! 😎
Bisimwa Seth By now also have an amplifier and am playing some recognizable music... lol
this lesson was like level 4 to level 10 directly for us beginner
You can do it, everyone! Just keep at it, practice a lot after every lesson!
Me, finally starting to feel like I'm getting the hang of this: Why do I hear boss music
Fingerstyle: Hello there
whenever he says "now let's try it really slowly" i have to adjust my playback speed to 0.5 because i can't for the life of me keep up hahaha
Thank you sooooo much! I was struggling and looked at the comments to see if anyone else was having the same problem and your comment saved me. Thank you so much! :)
I CAN’T PLUCK! It sounds like a dying goose whenever I try to do the A minor
the lesson difficulty jumped from 1 to 100 real quick :D practice for 10 more mins my ass, Im gonna spend the whole quarantine on this part :D thx Andy, love u
@@lraleftvie7785 made a progress 😁 I can play this fairly "easily" now
Veronica Choi hey, Id say about 2 weeks to perfect it, but i spend bout hour every day with guitar practicing this n different stuff, I always seem to fail hard one day n next its easier, little by little :)
honestly it’s kinda like his ukulele starter course where it went from you are my sunshine to riptide in one day😂
So lovely and so hard at the same time! Anybody else learning this on quarantine? Stay safe ❤️
@@livviemercado2496 haha true! But keep on rocking, if this continues a bit more, lots of new bands are gonna be born 🤘
Andy. Over the years I've tried so many times to learn how to play guitar, I've been retired for a year now and decided to try for one last time... I followed your 10 day beginners course and I have finally started to play music. THANK YOU FOR CLEAR LESSONS. Tony Crouch
This is the thoughest one, I can't believe I almost cry.
Anyone who is struggling with this lesson, I’d recommend giving the next lesson a go. Next lesson uses the pinky a lot so I find when I need to rest my pinky I can come back and practice this one :)
I rocked out with Andy for hours yesterday, and came into today feeling awesome and ready.
Then he started playing and my hands were about as fast as continents. Day 6 came in like a wrecking ball.
Rest in peace Bill Withers. I wish I could have started these lessons a little earlier during quarantine so I could have honoured an absolute legend
I am honestly so proud of myself for being able to play this entire song now! A week of daily practice later... the E to D change is soooo difficult
What really helps me is practicing one hand at a time, first the chord changes till they get in time with the beat, then the plucking patterns, then joining the two.
This is the toughest lesson so far! But we can do this ❤️
i just skipped i because i fould no value in it becacause i play electric
You are a very good teacher. I started playing at the age of 15, and then other things took over. Now at 63, have been trying to rekindle the fire for 2 years, without much success. Finally feeling the hope!!! Thank you.
Hey Andy? I need a Day 5 1/2. Like, NOW.
14:15 Andy my fingers are almost bleeding but I'M WITH YOU!!! you are the best
Everything was okay.. Just there were my fingers fighting with each other as the thumb string rings and others are soundless
I know I’m late to the party but got to say that you are by far and away the best teacher I’ve come across. No assumed knowledge/skill for those you’re teaching and, despite how well you can play, you understand that complete beginners like me need the slow, methodical breakdown. I’ve stuck at at for the last 6 days and will finish the course, probably repeat days 5-10 a few more times and then delve into more of your content! Thank you
I see a certain pattern in the views to your videos, so the first one got roughly a million views, the second one got around 350k and the third one got 220+K. After that it's 100.000 and less. So either people got a lot better inbetween your videos that they didn't need your lessons anymore, or... more likely (and this is very sad) they gave up. Anyways, love your vids man, keep it up! =)
or they were like " MAN this thing is awesome this guy tottaly knows how to teach im gonna need to come back to this later" like me , and i did get back so yaay . :P
If Andy sees this...help me out bro. You just left me hanging...
Or like me, watching the first videos a couple of times because I couldn't immediately understand
You are such a great guitar teacher! Thank you for all the awesome videos. Your voice is beautiful, I bet you would make a great vocal teacher too.
Oh Andy! What a teacher. In over 40 years of trying to play classical and getting nowhere and very frustrated, I've found your site. From day one I started enjoying playing again. Now looking for any excuse to pick up the guitars. I'll never be a rock god but who cares. My dogs love it (I think! :-) )
Loved the last trick, Andy! You're keeping a lot of us company during this lockdown, I'm sure. Thanks a lot 🤟
I used to hate using a pick.. now I can barely play without it xD
Did the first 5 sessions then stopped here. Now I'm back after finishing the full beginner level. The improvement is outstanding!! Thank you Andy!!
I have to agree this has to be the best guitar lesson out there. Im just starting out after trying for years. I was taught a few chords years ago by a friend but we have both moved on and this has relit my guitar fire. Just Brilliant and teaches some great tunes too. If I can do it at 54 then anyone can, Im at lesson 7 and loving it. Forgot I need to get used to the tips of my fingers toughening up again though. Cheers Andy.
Even though this was released 3 years ago, I still feel like you are the best i've ever seen. Im a complete begginer but now I really have gotten better with you. THANKS!!
bro u didn't have to pull out that D minor on me
i've been practising this song for three whole days and im finally making some notorious improvements, thanks Andy!!
A few weeks ago I woke up and decided that I wanted to play the guitar. My whole family is musically talented apart from me and I have always been jealous. I stumbled across your videos accidentally and it has helped me so much! Obviously I still have a long way to go but considering I hadn’t even held a guitar until a month ago I’m doing really well! Thanks so much, Andy! You have been brilliant and I will continue to watch all your videos to help me learn!
Really enjoyed learning this one. It took like 15 minutes to get into the groove of it and that D minor is painful to get used to after practicing a couple of hours in already. Hopefully it sounds better when my fingers get some rest. Thanks Andy
After 10 minutes of hardcore practising i finally got it! Thank you Andy! As a 13 year old on mid term break this is very helpful and helps me pass time! Your still helping people after 7 years:)
Andy, these past 5 lessons have been wonderful. It gives a beginner a feeling of success and that I am prigressing and playing music. Thank you for creating this group of 10 lessons.
Love you man thanks for all this great videos!Your channel helped me a lot.
This is a great lesson for us beginners. You know you need to learn some finger pickin. Tough yes but it's a great song and Andy always does a great job on showing us how. I love this Crowley guy!
I can play it really slowly im going spend a few more days on this day i think , loving your help so far andy you absolute legend
Love folk music wanted to learn forevrr. Ive tried 3 times. Including lessons as a kid. Never caught on. Made more progress here then ever. So thank you 🎉
Loving my guitar lessons Andy. Everyday I can't wait to my practice time!
Nice awesome this is the best day for us keep it up Andy😊
I tried to learn guitar multiple times and these videos have been the best by far. They keep me motivated and are easy to follow. Practicing became exciting and I look forward to the next day. Plus he's funny. Thanks so much Andy!
Couple months of practice and I'm now able to keep up with the fingerstyle version! Thank you, Andy!! 👊🏽👊🏽
Yes I am doing this in lock down as well I haven’t played for years so I thought I would go right back to basics really enjoyable I’d forgot how sore the finger ends get though thanks Andy 👍
I found it easier to move fingers 2&3 from the Am chord up one string for Em, then swing the the third finger over to 3rd fret low E for the G chord. Also if you use fingers 2&3 for Em you can position your index finger on the high E fret one which helps with a quicker chord change to Dm.
Hope this makes sense folks, it definitely helped me play this song much faster.
By the way Andy, many thanks, keep up the great tutorials.
Thank you for putting these wonderful lessons out there for us all to enjoy and learn. I am grateful to you, Andy.
I want to learn to play the guitar for so long, and with your help I’m finally doing it.
Andy, you are a great teacher. thank you so much for walking me through my first attempts to play guitar!! bless you.
Fantastic lessons looked at your ten day lesson plan thought great I can follow that thankyou.
This one is a difficult lesson. My guitar won't make any noise when I pluck the strings. 😔
@@faithxanneproudofliam If your string isn't make any sound when you pluck, either a piece of your hand is inadvertently pressing on the string (happens to me a lot with the high E pressing against my palm) or you're not pushing down hard enough with your finger tips.
Or you want to pluck way to hard, so one of the strings do the main sound. Try to pluck gently in the exact same time, and it will give you a clear sound.
I've been trying to get the hang o finger picking for years, and while I still can't claim to be able to do it, this has helped enormously.
Thank you for your clear instructions. You really introduce me to love the guitar in an amazing way. Thank you Andy.
Thanks a lot... I see some progress in myself compared with my first day of practice and i hope, someday i will play guitar well. Much love and appreciation from nagaland.
I never wanted to quit playing so much as I do now
Ive only started trying to play by guitar. I'm learning more in the first five lesson with you than any other teacher. Its close to one one on.looking forward more lesson thanks
Literally the best course in the whole internet! Especially in quarantine lol, THANKS ANDY! And stay safe everybody!
R.I.P. fingers.........help me!!
Andy.....please help me....I didn't get how to pluck chords with fingers.....please help me.........
I’m a kid and my hands are used to it already just as Andy Guitar 🎸 said
You made me a madman today. Hahahaha. But improving each and everyday. Thanks!
Brilliant stuff Andy...
Andy are the best, his teaching method so easy to understand and fun to learn. Thank you Andy.
Very good very hard but I love the guitar so much I’ll keep practicing
this man just proves all of the apps that say CZcams is trash for lessons. Great lesson!
Thanks Andy for making my guitar learning journey fun and exciting, you are a very good teacher
BEST LESSONS YOU HELPED ME SO MUCH DUUUUUDDEEEE ! Keep up the good work man !
Christ this is hard. I might need a bit more than 10 minutes... Maybe more like 10 hours.
@@deskrabbit2190 most lessons he gives take a while. This one would probably take a few days or maybe more after lesson 5, not sure because along with this I've been learning finger style since I started so the plucking part came easy
So for the E minor you put your first finger on the 5th string, but you never pluck that string. What's the point of that?
I was wondering the same thing, but I think it's because he wants us to get used to the chord (?)
@@civillian1 You put your finger on that string so you develop your muscle memory. You pluck that string in other songs.
Best teacher ever Andy, oh and the music taste is perfect for most. I mean come'on ain't no sunshine is perfect for quarantine.
Oh yeah!! I absolutely LOVE that song, got me so hooked up until the end, and the you mentioned the Foo Fighters ?? Yesss I’m so happy I found your lessons on CZcams. Dude I’m living my best life learning with your videos, thank you so much for all the work you do and your help on the way of mastering playing the guitar! ✌️
I am VERY late to this but it’s helped me so much😂 this video may have killed a part of me but I can sort of do it now lol may have had to adjust the playback speed a couple of times but I did it!
The plucking is actually impossible
A genuine guy who's lessons are actually implementable and easy to understand
hey! been practicing this one for a couple months now and feel as though i've finally mastered it. thanks andy :)
Thanks for all of these! I have noodled around on guitar and even written a couple songs, but never really had the focus or time or money or courage etc. etc. to properly learn. Or, I'd start with a song I loved that was actually too hard and get discouraged. I'm having a lot of fun and already so happy i can play Wild Thing, Oh La La and this song!? (I mean... I know HOW to play them, and play them slowly...:) ) I honestly didn't think I could get this finger picking thing and I have... now it's just a matter of practicing which is enjoyable because you keep it simple yet informative and you have great songs and enthusiasm. Your English accent helps too, I think ;)
Technically it's a Yorkshire accent from the Leeds area but it's still a British accent so ignore me 🤷♂️
watching the whole series again just because I love the way Andy talks, so soothing
I really appreciate your videos Andy! Pls keep it up, it's helped me so much during quarantine and reminds me of my late father who was an insane guitar player. I started learning guitar thru these videos before he passed and now I play on his guitars that were passed down to me 🖤 you have made this journey so much easier and I just wanted to put my two cents out there
Fantastic teacher, I'm learning so fast now! Thank you Andy, I'm so happy I've stumbled upon your videos!!!
my major problem is that the strings buzz when I play the chords yet the guitar is fully tuned. this problem is driving me insane
The action height and the truss rod probably needs adjustment. There are several videos that help with that topic. I had obvious issues around the fifth fret and realized my neck was dead flat.
This is the easiest lesson of all. I had to admit I learnt how to play guitar before for 3 years, but in the "normal" way. Reading tabs, fingerstyle, loads of things using this or similar technique. Amazing song tho. These are my favourites.
I have just bought a guitar , first one since 1983 ! And was quite good , but Have just been furloughed so loads of time yee hah !! And to be honest I've found it quite easy to get back into , plus it's quite addictive , can't put my guitar down ! Just a quick point always buy the best guitar you can afford, mines a fender so really good . Keep practicing and stay safe !!
In two days I’ve learnt so much from your lessons it’s amazing thanks so much
Thank you, i always loved singing this song, it's great to be able to play it too.
me tryna pluck:
my fingernails: am i a joke to you?
my second sixth day. i hope i can pass this lesson soon xD
Thank you for the amazing tutorials! Been practising this one for the past few hours and I'm finally staring to get the hang of it! It's a lot of fun playing the guitar! Gonna do lesson 7 tomorrow!
You are so great. Thank you so much for this. Have been frustrated in the past with learning guitar. You have really given me a new sense of excitement towards learning. I'm doing it!!!!
Hi! How do you pluck and keep your hand from glaring out? My hand isn’t big enough to keep the heel of my hand on the guitar body whilst plucking.
This day's lesson almost got me giving up playing guitar hhahahahaahah
Took me really long to see some progress on this lesson but after a lot of practice i feel like im getting there :D
I've enjoyed your course. It's helpful when you go slow for us beginners; this video went a little quickly without enough review of finger placement for me. I also really like in your previous lessons when you include music bars with notes so we can pause the video and practice on our own (I missed that in this video). Thanks for teaching us. Just a little input to make things even easier for new players. You've got a nice voice, we appreciate the lessons!
This lesson was discouraging for beginner’s like myself. This was way too advanced! This should have been video ten. I honestly want to smash my guitar. 😆
Mate, practice the previous lessons a LOT in between, as you should after every lesson. Nothing comes without practice, especially on day 6!
Is anyone able to sing at the same time?
Reassure me guys, I feel that my brain will manage that in three years
I can’t. And right now I’m focused on the strings and getting the chords and changes right.
These lessons are brilliant. Thanks Andy
thank you andy for teaching me🤩
im confused as to why we press the second string at all, it seems he doesnt ever pluck it. or am i missing something?
(apart from the first root note)
I can't keep up...ha ha ha...yet enjoying...numb tips..thanxs..
having so much fun with this song, thank you!
Here for day 6! Gonna have to practice this one again.
Finding day 6 too difficult?

I've learned a lot since making this original 10 day series and have put everything I've learned into making this new series even better, especially for those who struggle with this one and want more support and help jamming along up to speed.
I truly hope it helps the absolute beginners out there achieve their goals, or helps rekindle a love for guitar for anyone revisiting learning in 2023!
