When discussing grapplers people only see the command grab and don't realise that to run your command grab vortex first you need to get in, try to walk one of the top tiers in this game to the corner with Pot and then tell me a player can't work magic with a grappler, to do that consistently with Pot you need to be tiers above the other player in terms of both neutral and defensensive skill
I just don't entirely agree, in majority of games the grappler gets mad health, an option to move across the stage without totally swallowing zoning, and something that makes sure people don't just jump in on you all the time. It's as simple as just landing and capitalizing on that one lucky hit and then making them guess wrong over and over with the only consequence being maybe a reversal that they won't eat that much damage from thanks to their high health pool. Making a come back with Anji or Millia is incredibly different than making a come back with Potemkin and the same could be said for other grapplers that are low tier in other games lol.

But I’n most games the grappler normally has very good poke normals..The fact that pot fastest button is 5frames is pathetic..if his jab was 4-3 frames and or hit mid on standing he would be well balanced to get faster characters off of him in the corner ..they also shouldn’t of took away his wake up super ..So characters like gorilla gold won’t be going to town on him in the corner with no risk..
@@cerdi_99 Gief has green hand and lariat to deal with projectiles, Tager has sledge hammer that is a guard point attack, Beowulf has command air dashes, full screen reversals, and a projectile that can be plus and give him space advantage (grendel included), Trinity has an armored throw and leaping dive attack that's full screen, Astaroth can literally armor his way through attacks to throw you and if you jump he automatically smokes you, king has safe mids that cover crazy distances with different throws with different tech times, King of Dinosaurs I'm pretty sure has armored moves that get him across the stage as well as a projectile invincible leaping throw with anti air throws (much like some of the other characters I've listed), waldstein has gigantic buttons that makes space not so relevant while also having a projectile of his own and can stop projectiles with certain attacks with his command throw being full screen, Broly has insane armor on his attacks and flies across the screen constantly while also having absurd zoning, and this is just me naming off the top of my head, I know if I look through the list of existing games that I can find more. Pot is not the only character that has answers to get across the screen, some can take a little commitment, some are just down right brainless and safe, but they irrefutably exist.
From playing pot since release it really feels like they pushed him towards "Timmy" Players in this game, he's amazing at low-levels of play and the spectacle he provides is unmatched but he falls off hard when you start fighting competent opponents which is incidentally also the point that many "Timmy" players won't ever experience

MAY?! In "Good But Not Amazing?" She's NUTS in this game with her near-zero charges and near-zero recovery. She takes so much priority for free! She's definitely deserving of an upgrade. I do know some "solid" Millia players, but her weakness is NO DAMAGE OUTPUT. I've seen one combo string for twenty timer counts only to walk away with like, 25%-30% damage... only to drop a hit and get stuffed for half her HP.

The mid tier of strive is very strong tho. Even not so great characters are pretty good. The gaps are not that big between the tiers. It's just a pretty explosive game

Disagree anjis return is much better with the 5hs buff and buff to nagiha not blowing opponents so far away. The idea is that hes still a very commital character by design but the reward for that wasn't there. Now you deffinetly feel the damage when you get the hit. BUT getting there is still the big issue, so return is there just not a stable way to get it.

What a Garbage take about Snake Eyez. Snake Eyez wins without grabs all the time. He is insanely good with cancelling moves and footies. He is doing magic Nobody in Strive is pushing a character as hard as Snake Eyez and the other PoT players. All the other characters have insane cheats compared to Pot
People shit on grapplers, cause they're projecting. A grappler matchup tends to bring out the worst in a person's playstyle, because they make people very anxious. It's the main ingredient to their playstyle, because they tend to lack the other powerful options like reversals or zoning games, more easily identifiable cases of "Shenanigans." So, people exaggerate the matchup, because when you lose to the walking refrigerator lumbering towards you at .2km per hour with a hitbox the size of texas sneaking past your offense, what else do you really blame it on? You made a mistake during the match? Never. Has to be that grapplers are scrubby round-stealers. I exaggerate, naturally, but I do think it's just silly how much salt the literal bottom of most games' tier lists still manages to make people seethe.
Thing is that grapplers are huge skill checks. By nature of the archetype they'll be both the best and the worst characters. Their win conditions are so so so specific. Like more often than not, grapplers NEED to condition an opponent. There isn't "oh well I still have this option if they don't fall for the mix up." It's more often than not a "if you mess up then oof bro you boutta struggle" ik that sounds like many other archetypes, but it's more apparent with grapplers imo

Pot really doesn't feel bottom or low tier to me. He's gotta struggle to walk characters down and get his mix started but his offense is so strong it feels fair to me. Post patch he now has the most health in the game to help him take trades more favorable or tank some damage on approach. Really his biggest weakness is being very slow on defense with no invul wake up I think. I know they won't do it but I think genuinely all he needs are better jabs or a invul wake up again. He's got EXTREME one chance potential, I don't think he'll ever be truly "bad". I personally put him above Anji, Axl, Millia, Jacko, and maybe even Sin (beak and far slash being SO SLOW is really unfortunate), but I don't see him winning majors just based on highly volatile matchups. I'm not about that downplay life so I'm saying my boy is fine. He could use a little more juice if they want to make him an actual contender for upper/top tier but I don't think he's even in bottom 5 tbh
