"oh my goodness . you look so much better in person than you do in real life"
bacon: *facepalm*
gets me laughing out loud every time
I'm addicted to this roundtable videos.
Me too!
And "Actors On Actors" :)
yeah
They're a great interviewers. Prompting without talking too much, steering the conversation without talking over top of them, pulling great info out of the actors without seeming intrusive. I appreciate that.
Mandy being brutally honest is very heart warming. From what I've heard he's come a long way
I'm on a THR roundtable train and I can't get off. 🚂
Me, too! Have spent far too much time with this series, but it's like finding yourself at a great party, listening to people you didn't expect to be there.
💯 10 years after this 1
So glad Corey was there with those great actors.
I'm always overwhelmed by these discussions...seeing favorite artists speak THE TRUTH, THEIR TRUTH...its pure gold. Thanks to all!
OH MY GOD!! 16:56 Mandy Patinkin complementing the opening scene of The Newsroom's pilot and Jeff's performance! SHIT! Gave me goosebumps! Exactly what I think of it. Can't tell you how many times I've watched it.
Tamyris Bilion agreed, definitely one of the greatest television moments of all time. Such a powerful message with astounding editing and production, it’s so uplifting, just makes you appreciate and want to do better. Love it
Love Mandy's honesty about his behaviour in the past
This was a good combo of guys with some interesting stories and perspectives on their respective works.
Everyone of these actors are absolutely brilliant actors. They all been part of awesome ensembles and pieces of art that makes up our history. They have all given themselves to their craft for our entertainment. I am grateful for their generosity. Hilarious though, there insecurities show us they are just like us, just trying to survive.
So much more enjoyable than the Oscar roundtable. Instead of looking pained and haughty these guys (still all A-listers) actually engage with the interviewer and answer the questions. BRAVO.
Bacon Numbers !!!!!!!!!
Jeff Daniels - 2
Mandy Patinkin - 2
Dennis Quaid - 2
John Slattery - 1 (Sleepers)
Corey Stoll - 1 (Black Mass)
Kevin Bacon This guy never goes unnoticed
wow, love the talk, and if Patinkin is da boss (honest speech) the compliment he pays to Jeff and his work on Newsroom, wow! Love to hear Jeff and congrats on deserved Emmy, hope to see new season soon!!!
gotta love dennis..he's had some big ups and downs throughout his career but to see someone with a genuine love for acting like him is great
Mandy Patinkin is just absolutely amazing.
+Savannah Avery why?
Cause he fucking is
Too much awesomeness in one room
I absolutely love this show and wish it was on regular tv if it is not. Its my favorite actor interviews to date.......Can you tell I'm a fan!
God, Mandy Patakin is awesome.
Mandy Patankin 😉
he is, but from what i've read it took him a long time to get there as a human being. he obviously is very aware of how he was.....i watched this segment for the first time today 12/04/20,...not sure when he started to change but it'dh happened when they did this roundtable.
no interview comes close to thr's roundtable,it is the best thing ever and the interviews omg! i just love how they throw in the question and just hide off one place till everyone's done talking lol its just amazing and also i find very stacey wilson very attractive wish i could see more of her.
one of the best roundtables.
I'd say THE best!
Oooh yes! Jeff Daniels and Corey Stoll! They are absolutely brilliant in their TV Shows which by the way are incredibly smart and awesome and I love them! Yay for House of Cards, yay for The Newsroom!
Absolutely fantastic group of men.
Tremors is one of my most watched movies.. Kevin rules!
It's probably his best movie.
WalterLiddy it’s his most enjoyable IN NO world is it his best.
🤜🖐✌
Best roundtable so far. Jeffs advice is gold. Thank you!
Wow. What a lovely man Mandy Patinkin is. This was a great roundtable! Good conversation all around!
Wasn't it extraordinary? I knew that Patinkin had a reputation as a hothead who was difficult to work with, but I had no idea how much he had turned that around. Fascinating, too, that guys you might think of as extremely successful in their fields all have stories of how lousy they felt at times.
Jack Carter Yeah! Truly!
I love all these guys but Mandy, you will always be a hero to me and your character in the Princess Bride will always be my favourite
A couple things:
-I love seeing Jeff Daniels in things like this. He always has interesting things to say & seems to love talking about it.
-So glad to see Corey Stoll in this. He was incredible in House of Cards, and more than deserves to be a part of this group.
-I recently got the amazing ooppurtunity to meet Kevin Bacon, and he was so nice! It was cool to meet such a big star who I love, and he actually be really nice and kind.
-Mandy Patinkin is the boss!!!!!!!!! :)
I hope you were not the one that told him "you look so much better in person than you look in real life" 🤣
Kevin Bacon always RULES!
Corey Stoll was fantastic in House of cards. I guess he was given the right direction.
kevin bacon!!! awesome!!!!
This has to be the best Roundtable I have watched. Why this doesn't have millions of view astounds me. Thank you THR for getting these amazing actors together but also for letting them just talk.
I feel like not a lot of people know about this shows i like watching interviews that's how i discovered this and Actors on Actors which is kind of like this but just w/ 2 actors
But who knows meaby some people just choose not to watch them
Thankyou all for so many great movies,Exp.Mr.Patinkin the princess bride is a timeless classic
Another excellent The Hollywood Reporter long format roundtable discussion from 2013 w/ Kevin Bacon (The Following), Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom), Mandy Patinkin (Homeland), Dennis Quaid (Vegas), John Slattery (Mad Men), and Corey Stoll (House of Cards). At 16:55 or so when Mandy gushes over the opening monologue that Daniels did in Ep1 of The Newsroom... Hit the nail on the head. Shame the Newsroom is ending after the next season.
#Interview #roundtable #THR #thehollywoodreporter
The other long format roundtables are excellent too - if you are interesting in the BTS of acting/showrunning/ and how these shows/movies and tv in general tick. The cinematography one with various DPs with a lot of street cred was great one.
Classy gentlemen.
You guys truly do fabulous roundtables, thank you THR.
May we all find a lover who looks at us the way Jeff Daniels looked at Mandy when he spoke.
I love how Mandy first said a curse word, and after that everyone else just relaxed like "oh I can say swear too"
Alright, Jeff and Mandy have convinced me. It's time I see if the library has Newsroom. I've been meaning to get around to that.
I got the first season of Homeland, halfway through it now - I have to say, Patinkin is one of the only reasons I'm sticking with it. Very well-acted show, only the writing is underwhelming and a bit stale.
Homeland's first season is actually one of the better ones in the season. Patinkin's character is the heart and soul of the show IMO.
The Newsroom is just alright. I do love the opening credits though.
Rachel Lam I think The Newsroom is fantastic. I've turned several of my friends onto it. They weren't inclined to watch. I got them to watch the first episode, and then they were hooked and watched every episode of both seasons. I do agree about the opening credits of show, especially Season 1.
Yes. Its the involvement you feel with the work that keeps you over water. You´re not playing it cool. You´re afraid like hell, but you won´t run, and that provides the adrenaline to show what you can do. Thats exhausting, too, so its a medal of honor for actors to lose all those teenage beauty and naiveness, maturing and getting more interesting to the audience all the time, no matter if you act, write or direct.
Round table videos are always my favorite!
great roundtable I like the people at this roundtable and it's a great interview
I love Kevin Bacon
Tremors 1 is great!
The dynamic betwin bacon and his mate, the mentality of bouth men and the little town... I can watch it any time.
I'd like to see a Best Boy Grip Roundtable
Daniel Toma oh man i had a good laugh to that
What's that?
What a great series.
homeland and newsroom. some of the best television ever. jeff daniels is fantastic. its unbelievable. i think people underestimate that show and him.
Very insightful.
one of them was in an american airlines admirals club and i was using a computer feet away. he was being interviewed via phone and i could not wait to leave the club and board my flight.
Serious talent in this room. The fact that Slattery never won an Emmy for Roger Sterling is a travesty, as is the fact that Mandy Patinkin hasn’t won (so far) for Homeland.
One of the best ones.
I have such a crush on John Slattery. He reduces me to a puddle.
I have a crush for that hair...
Damm,I wish I had that hair
That or Peter Capaldi's and I'd be happy
I grew up with idols like Jeff Daniels, Dennis Quaid & Kevin Bacon, just hearing them talking about worst auditions being musicals was interesting because I just don't see them in that way. That is revealing! The person in the room that I can personally relate to is Mandy Patinkin only because if that was me I would be that honest.
Awesome video guys. Where's Cranston and Hamm though?
The table is a rectangle.
THR's rectangletable doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
Agree. The fact that The Newsroom apparently hasn't even been confirmed at this time to be picked up for season 3 is just beyond me. It is so sharply written, so well acted, so well edited, so topical for our times...it might possibly join The Wire as one of the best shows and one of the most unappreciated shows when they respectively aired. The Newsroom is so underrated, undervalued, and underestimated. Just amazing television. Jeff Daniels owns that character.
I kind of missed Kevin Spacey there.
And Mandy Patinkin is my favourite actor there. I hope he wins the emmy.
1:00:13 - Mandy looks like he's having a quiet breakdown.
I could listen to Mandy for days.
"You Know."
Dennis Quaid is here!
around 57:10 a prime example of who he is talking about is leonardo dicaprio after titanic. he was already great but he didnt let the fame get to his head he did the work to get better through the craze he started
I love the movie Tremors lol 1:40 my family and I quote it all the time.
They had a roundtable already. It's on their channel. :)
Well acted? By everyone? Because Jeff Daniels seems to hold the show on his shoulders.
Mandy Patinkin is a BOSS!
Harry Potter and the Magical Ninja (about Harry Potter dealing with the devil because the devil is a magical ninja), Unstable Dead Magic, Speaking Gods Language, Birds Whistle, Sunnywutang
It'll probably be either at the THR site or at their magazine :)
Dennis Quaid sounds exactly like Harrison Ford
i like jeff's cardigan/blazer/jacket.. fresh
My name is "Inigo Montoya",... PREPARE TO DIE...Hahaha....who out there remembers this?? I saw this at the theater as a kid, have never forgot it!!
corey stoll! yes please!
Oh John Slattery is the politican Carrie dated in SATC!
just come across this roundtable - brilliant! SO MANY life lessons to learn from these "cucarachas"... regarding what TV networks should do - aside from creating new TV shows - please, please get rid of all commercials for pharmaceutical companies. networks are charging them millions for a 30 sec commercial, and we the people end up covering pharmas' marketing budgets. can't anyone else see it?!? does anyone else care?!?
They always ask the same questions... It's a shame because I really like these roundtables... :S
57:10 best advice.
I like the roundtables, but I get the impression they sometimes have to take whatever they can get. It usually seems to be the actors who don't have much of a shot at nominations (Quaid, Bacon, etc.) who are available to sit around and chat.
I like to see a discussing on comicbook movies vs 'real' movies. My choice for comicbook movies is John Campea (AMCmovie Talks) or Kevin Smith.
Does anybody know where I can find all text of this interview? Please, help me find it!
The fact that you have more advantages than somebody else doesn't necessarily make you advantaged.
I would say the fact that these men are all American (some may be Canadian, I have difficulty distinguishing between the accents) is a much bigger reason that they are advantaged than their race or gender. A white heterosexual man from Moldova is more disadvantaged than a black homosexual woman from the USA
What kinda of camera are you using
Mandy is the best
I'm not exactly sure why but John Slattery reminds me of Louis C.K.
Where's Bryan Cranston??
Tremors - Bacon's best film was his 'low point'.
Cranston has showed up a few times. They probably want to mix it up if they can.
Akhiri time tak yahi BOLUNGA.
I don't know if you know this, that table is not round
If premium cost work was cheaper then the view count the big cats are looking for surely would be going up, and also less bootlegging if there is easier access
Round?
Hey! That rhymed.
Don't get mad at them just because you're not smart or talented enough to be successful.
Kevin Bacon, Dennis Quaid and more Drama Actors on THR's Roundtable | Emmys 2013
One of these things is not like the others
Without Cranston this isn't fun though
what no sexism/ageism questions??? lol
Yes. I like the ones with the actresses, maybe more than the men.But I do get annoyed that it's constantly about the trials and tribulations of being a female actor. Lots and lots about female empowerment etc and far too little about their actual acting, talent and ability. The men just do not have that same treatment. It's almost sexism to focus so much on that with the women.
you'd never imagine that the guy from Dumber and Dumberer would be so smart, wise, eloquent, interesting, truthful and likable
🙏If you are reading this and you are an aspiring professional ACTOR I wish and hope and pray you have worldwide success!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
The table is not round
