This is part 12 in the series.
Jump to 12:04 for Shift Star work.
I had to back track a bit after some of my hardware starting to get surface rust. I tore things back down, recleaned and buffed the hardware and dipped it in Caswell sealer. Let's see if that does the trick.
This time I get the new CTI rear hydraulic brake conversion installed after a little customization of my Gen1 Propeg nerfs. I also had a chance to compare shift stars from a semi auto Yamaha and this Blaster. What a difference in design. Fortunately doing a simply shift star mod is easy. Especially when you find the star is welded on as some from the factory are.
My thanks again to the below companies. This project would not be moving forward without their innovation and support of the Yamaha Blaster platform and #savesportsquads

Man, I wish i had the know-how that you have. The family has got an 87' Big Bear that runs like a peach, thanks to your electrical troubleshooting video. Now im onto a 99' Arctic Cat 500, if you can get her to fire, she bogs at about 1/2 throttle. Was taking her around the property this last weekend and she just died. I've been through the carb about 6 times. So im confident the problem is elsewhere. I've noticed the tail light flickers when she gets throttle. so, CDI? or Stator? It's not quite wrenching season here in MI, so we'll see. Awesome to see a little of the property at the end of the vid too brother.

Bog could be a lean or rich condition. check for air leaks around the carb boots etc. A leak there could lean things out. Check your air filters. A plugged up filter would cause a rich bog. If you've been through the carb and still have a bog check the components that 'feed' that process. Plugged exhaust, air leak in carb boots, plugged air filter and yes a failing stator, coil or bad plug could be contributing but I'd check the others first. Good luck and thanks for the shout out.

Hey man still can't get my emails to you but If you can help me on this
So I have a 97 big bear 350 4x4 and I got it trade the shift shaft was worn and the pervious owner welded the pedal rod so ordered a new one as well a new shift shaft I replaced both and now it won't shift at all because I didn't know you had to line up the dot on the shift shaft and the shift rod where it splits my question is how do you line everything back up or put it in neutral by hand so I can line up the shift pedal so it's in the neutral position with the gears

Any chance you might be able to join up with this FB group called 'Yamaha Moto 4/Big Bear owners club'? facebook.com/groups/409521669204535. There's some good Big Bear builders in there. (I hang out there too.) I can't quite picture what you're describing on the 97. I'm hoping you could get a few photos or short clip in there that we could all look at.
