  • Tips & Tricks: Freighter Building | Simple & Advanced Techniques | Endurance 3.98
    Today's Tips & Tricks video is all about freighter building. I've never put much effort into my freighter layouts, generally doing minor edits to the old standard layout, but the Endurance update really changed thing up. So today we will go over a few tips & tricks that should help you learn how to build a freighter similar to the one from my freighter tour videos.
    We start off with a couple very simple concepts, including how to get open doorways between rooms and how to do positioning of things outside or underneath freighter rooms. We then get slightly more advanced with an easy method to colour glitch new freighter parts with old colours. After that we head into the advanced techniques involving the Universal Adjacency Glitch. This lets us do things like scale objects we normally can't, as well as snap objects that normally can't snap. This how I did the merged scanner room in my observation deck. And finally we will cover the most requested feature: how to build sideways floors. This technique requires both the universal Adjacency Glitch as well as the wire glitch and reverse wire glitch, so we go over how to do that too. We don't have access to wires on a freighter, so we will need to have the short range teleporter and teleporter cable unlocked. These glitch techniques are simple to describe, but difficult to perform, so don't give up and keep practicing your timing.

    I know its been a long time, and you probably already thought of this. But when I'm doing glitch building in any game the first thing I do is make perfectly timed macros for all of the common or trickier tasks.
    Great video, I'm finally just now cracking into base building in this game and I decided to go with a freighter cause heck yeah thats awesome.
    Your video is the first one I watched and I'm glad I did because I really appreciate the way you made an effort to explain specifically WHAT needs to happen, as in HOW the glitch works. Knowing how is never as powerful of a tool as understanding how.

    • @seriousleesgaming3042
      @seriousleesgaming3042  Před rokem +2

      I've considered using timing macros, and IIRC Xaines World has some already prepared, I just decided to go without because I didn't want an advantage over console players. Wanted to make sure any builds I make are able to be replicated by anyone without access to mods or macros.
      The freighter base is a great place to get started building, as it's a build you'll end up visiting a lot just by usage of the freighter. The only downside is that freighter builds are often buggy in multiplayer, probably because they don't get uploaded to the game servers, making them occasionally hard to share with friends.
      Thanks so much, very kind words. I definitely recommend looking up Beeblebum's tutorials too, he explains things in a way to help understand the how too, and is where I learned all the building I know.

      @@seriousleesgaming3042 I just realized this was recorded, or at least posted a little over a month ago. Your room expansion is very different from what I currently have. The floors don't have grates and spinning things under them. They are floors, and it just looks more smooth. Also near the beginning you placed your frigate control rooms, I placed new ones down like 3 days ago inside, they are higher then standard room expansions, and they are there own separate room entities so to speak. They have walls around them. Kind of annoying. Maybe I did something wrong, and I'll test one other thing to see if it fixes it. but having different heights, and more importantly walls where I don't want them are a bit annoying.

    Really interesting video today. I think I learned some stuff from this episode. I really dont know if i'll be trying any of these techniques anytime soon, but I'm very happy you did this. I know that tips and tricks videos might seem like you are telling people things that they alreadfy know (I know most of the ones Ive watched in the last couple of years have been), but there are always new players and even older ones that still get some enjoyment and knowledge from them. Wouldnt mind seeing more tips episodes from you in the future.. Great work!

      There's a couple more freighter things I would like to cover that I didn't think of, especially on the simple side. Like the new stairs parts and how to connect them, and even ladders for people that (shudder) want to use them. But it's harder to do most Tips videos without editing of some kind, cuts at least, and I just don't have the software or know-how to do that right now. I have had a few ideas for things that I might be able to do all in one go like derelicts tips and frigate shopping tips, so those will probably show up sometime soon, heheh.

    Excellent video. I knew these tricks, but still... I hadn't thought to Adj.Glitch Freighter rooms. Sadly I don't have that Holographic Map. Maybe they'll rerun older Expeditions
    As for Beeblebum's Colour Swap@ 12:34 your cursor just wasn't pointed at the locker.
    It's no different than the Legacy color / Sticker recolour.
    Select "colour part", Aim at "target part", Bring up pallette, Toogle Edit, Paint
    Toogle Edit, Rinse and Repeat.
    For initially building, I just make a decoration part, use it to grab the colour, then build away.
    Saves going through menus. However for recolouring, Beeblebum's Sticker method is easier.
    I've been "painting" a Mayan-Style Stone Pyramid with these.

    Nice video. Thanks. Simple question (I think) - do you know how rotate rooms like fleet command rooms to a side they refuse to rotate to. Honestly feels like a bug or poor programming, but often these (and most other rooms) refuse to face certain directions. Like they'll face left, right, and away, but not toward me. Just an example, could be any direction. Might be a vid addressing this but I haven't found it so far. Thanks in advance

    • @seriousleesgaming3042
      @seriousleesgaming3042  Před rokem +3

      That's a good question, because it's a known issue. The easiest (but not 100% effective) solution I have for that issue is to use the build camera and change the angle you are viewing the empty room slot from, then try rotating it. Another option is to remove the surrounding rooms 1st then try and get the part to rotate the desired way and put the rooms back after. You can also try to place the room somewhere else on the build where it is rotated the right way, then copy that part and see if it keeps the facing when you place it in the desired spot. None of these methods are guaranteed to work, but they are simple to try. There's also the option of using the universal adjacency glitch or wire (with teleport cable) glitch, which will definitely work, but are much more complicated to do. A video is a good idea, I'll see what I can do!

It had been bothering me for months and I couldn't figure it out, but yesterday after watching yours and other build videos I decided to mess around with it some more with some new ideas and found that, so far, it seems to consistently work if you put a door where it doesn't want to face and then they are willing to face that way. Then just delete the door if you don't want it. 👌🏻
