Ik , but he also really wanted Faustin to die too , but thing is Dimitri wouldn't have become nothing without Faustin help, at one mission during cutscene Faustin says "he would have became some prison princess" so shows how weak Dimitri was back then.
Tbf he was too crazy to be left alive. I just started a new playthrough. He's barely there for a few missions and we already have the impression this guy kills whoever he wants. He even made Niko kill Lenny Petrovich, the son of one of the most dangerous men in Liberty City. That's the reason you had to shoot him in the first place.
He was crazy but loyal to one he trusts the most , Dimitri acted all nice and innocent. He shows his true self once he finds his enemy is weak and has no opportunity to escape. He will turn on anyone to go ahead in life. Ye he was crazy but Dimitri was next level craziness

Imo, he did. Just because Dimitri betrayed Niko doesn't mean Faustin needed to be alive. The senseless death had to stop. Jason, Lenny, and worse, collateral damage from the garage explosion... that is, if you're unlucky enough to have NPCs walking by get caught in it. I did on my recent playthrough. For me, non-hostile NPCs are off limits, so I felt terrible. What was next, actively attacking the LCPD Saints-style when they started to come down on the operation?

If Niko didn't kill Faustin, Petrovic would have put a price on his head according to Dimitri. Maybe Dimitri was lying, but maybe not considering that after Faustin dies only Dimitri and Bulgarin are after Niko but not Petrovic

To be fair most of the time he was being manipulated by Dimitri. Funnily enough, this is the only mission where he doesn't.

Is it just me or does the blood appear slightly before the gunshot? Nah, makes sense if the bullet travels faster than sound.
ye it did happen ,not sure if its due to the high fps. idk about the older consoles or once capped at 60fps
