Still sore after doing this test... Hope you found this video somewhat useful if you are looking to buy the Carlson's .660 Long Beard XR Choke.

You aimed better with Carlson's. If you centered the shot through Accuchoke, as you did with Carlson's, the patterns would show similar concentration of pellets, with Carlson's showing a slight edge, for it is a tighter choke.

Human error was certainly a factor. The other point I made was that my turkey gun had not been shot since the previous turkey season. There is a great possibility that my site was off zero to begin with. I travel and hunt public land so my guns always go through a lot of wear. Thank you for watching!

Just an observation and info for those who may not know, but the hits that are not in the brain/spine are non lethal hits. The longer the shot the lesser chance of hitting the brain/spine. I don’t count them in my patterning of shells and chokes, I only count brain/spine hits.
Good luck everyone this season! Stay safe!

I had the same experience with my 835 tactical turkey. First time out I shot a turkey at 33 yds that I rolled him. Then it got up and flew off. Not a fluke. I patterned the gun before the season and did my homework. I replaced the Mossberg with an Indian Creek Black Diamond and the difference was unbelievable. This is my second 835. I've been shooting Mossbergs for 30 years. I love my new tactical turkey but the choke was not up to par. Also, the safety was extremely hard. I had to replace the safety switch with an after market one that was higher profile.

I read in one of the outdoor magazines that a acceptable pattern at longer ranges was 7 pellets in the kill zone.( neck and head) I would say both these chokes performed very well. I agree with you no need to buy a new choke, factory is good. Nice video!!!!😊😊😊

Jeff, just found your videos and subscribed. I pretty much agree with your results. I compared my 870 turkey super full choke to the longboard. Longboard tighter out to 40 yards. However 35 yards is the longest shot I’ve ever taken. I hunt heavy woods where most of my turkeys are taken between 15 to 25 yds. I decided not to use Longbeard choke because at 10 yds the pattern was the size of a tennis ball. Too easy to miss a turkey sneaking in at 15 yards with his head bobbing around. I went with the 870 super full last year and got my gobbler at 17 yds. I like a little wider patter when they are that close and moving. Good luck in 2021 and keep the videos coming.

Mossberg makes good choke tubes, the practically invented the specialized turkey shotgun AND popularized interchangeable tubes (patented by Winchester).
I'm using a discontinued Remington SP10 Turkey Special, 23" barreled 10 gauge in 0riginal Mossy 0ak Bottomland (Factory Camo /Walnut) with HiViz Buck & Cluck sights and Primos Jellyhead (extended) ventilated choke tube with Winchester Supreme in 2 oz.of #4's.

kinda disappointed in this test... I'm a carlsons fan. I use a Remington 870 with the carlsons and maybe it's just a magic setup, but my gun will absolutely annihilate anything out to 60 yards pretty easily. 40 yards in, turkey is getting its head knocked off. but at 60 yards I was getting 36 pellets just in the turkey outline/ head... and for whoever commented earlier, a hit not in the brain or spine doesn't make it non lethal, just at distance it has more effect

@@foxhilloutdoors2134 I have an old Mossberg 835,, it's one of the 1st ones ever made,, it's probably an early to mid 90's model. I'm gonna call Mossberg tomorrow and see if them X-factor chokes will fit in it,,if so I'm gonna buy one and see if it'll pattern like yours and my brother's! If not I might be buying a new one!
