19:24 - Priyadarshan didn't answer the question clearly but that's very intentional. I have observed time and again this tendency of Priyan sir- He always downplays his technical expertise! I don't know why he does that. Shankar also does the same. Both are heavily technical guys in Indian cinema.
Let me answer that question- Priyan sir designs his shots irrespective of his cinematographers. He decides the composition, production design, blocking of actors, and camera movement. When he did Bollywood movies, choreographers used to complain that they don't get to direct their dance songs in Priyan films because Priyan allows them to direct only the dance movements and he controls the frame composition, costume designs, colors in the frame and camera movements.
Actor Nandu famously said that K V Anand's national award for cinematography in Thenmavin Kombath should have actually gone to Priyan sir because he was deciding the lens number, composition and lighting pattern. You would have never seen a Thenmavin Kombath like Visual Design in any other KV Anand films. His style is different. But you can see thenmavin kombath like shots in many other Priyadarshan films like Viraasat (Ravi K Chandran), Maalamaal weekly etc.
Priyan sir is notorious for his interference in music direction. Most of the songs in his movies are inspired by the songs he liked from other films. But it is the music directors who get the blame 😁. Ouseppachan usually give open statements against this tendency of Priyan.
Priyan even brought Deepan Chatterji, who is basically a sound engineer, as a music director for his film, KAKKA KUYIL- and guess what? 3 out of 4 songs in that film are superhits - Aalare Govinda, Megharagam nerukil, Paadam vanamaali.
He even instructs his actors how to perform in a certain way- example: He gave buster keaton reference to sreenivasan in Poochakkoru Mookutthi.
Priyadarshan introduced Slapstick comedy in Malayalam movies. It is very difficult to pull off Slapstick in a decent way. Ignorant mallus call it "koottayottam". Allenkilum enthenkilum thenga arinjittaano ivanmaar bakki ulloore vimarshikkan varunnathu.
So, I was trying to say Priyadarshan owns his films in every way. It is because of his sheer command over the technicality of this medium, he is able to complete technically perfect movies in record time. So, that's that! Thank you.

മോഹൻലാൽ 1980 മുതൽ അഭിനയം തുടങ്ങി പ്രിയദർശന്റെ ആദ്യ സിനിമ 1984 ൽ പൂച്ചയ്ക്കൊരു മൂക്കുത്തി ആണ്. ഈ സിനിമയിൽ വരുന്നതിന് മുൻപ് തന്നെ 25ൽ പരം ചിത്രങ്ങളിൽ അഭിനയിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു
one of my most fav filmmaker ...Thanks for the classics sir and for entertaining us like noone else over a period of 3-4 decades..majority of his films were a meeting place of great visuals great song sequences and rip roaring comedy...He deserves to be celebrated for that and not crucified for reworking hollywood plots or for Marakkar
Maybe he also faced backlash because of Lissy's allegations. I believed in his innocence as he was harassed a lot by Lissy and her lawyer in fake allegations,I hope that if he was innocent then the truth prevail. Waise I feel bad for the thing that post the failiure of Hungama 2,he is trolled so much by even Northies forgetting the good movies he gave to Bollywood in his life.

@@KishorePrakashMenon Yes, he is known in Tamil Audiences circle for films like Gopura Vasalile,Siraichalai,Lesa Lesa and Kanchivaram.But his malayalam films though many are remakes or adaptations from other language movies, they are fantastically made.
I started liking him for his Bollywood films as a 2000s kid from North but started loving him more after seeing his Malayalam films.
@@tanvitripathi3997 His malayalam films are always a treat to watch.He had a team of brilliant actors starting from Mohanlal,Sreenivasan,Jagathy Sreekumar,Nedumudi Venu,Innocent and many more and it was a complete riot especially in 80's and 90's.
@@shrikanthsrinivasan1738 There are hardly any remakes of other Indian language films in MALAYALAM.. (except recent ones). In his early days too, he only took a thread from a book, play or a foreign movie. He adapted it to bring classics to Indian cinema. He is a master craftsman.

ലോക സിനിമയിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ copycat. കുട്ടിക്കാലത്ത് കിട്ടിയ ലോക സിനിമകളുടെ വിഡിയോ കെസേറ്റുകൾ കണ്ട് അത് പകർത്തിയാണ് തുടക്കം. സ്ഥലവും സന്ദർഭവും, നടന്മാരും മാത്രമേ മാറ്റമുള്ളൂ.
സ്വന്തമായി കഴിവില്ലാത്ത മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ കഴിവ് കൊണ്ട് നിലനിന്ന ആൾ.
I believe that he copies a lot and I never appreciated it but his copied films are forgotten with time but his originals from Chithram to Vellanakalude Nadu to Thenmavin Kombath to Oppam to Kaanchivaram to Sila Samayangalil earned him very much respect as a director. He got National Award for the films he made originally.Waise he should have remade his own films in Hindi rather than remaking some films of other directors.
