Canadian Cities History
Played Cochrane as a touring musician in the 80’s. Played the Albert Hotel-it had an albino moose head in the lobby! I also remember it was near the train station and I think I remember going to the station had a cafe where you could get a good, cheap breakfast.
Great show.. Recognized many faces who I worked with on the railway in the early days of my career with the ONR

Wonderful Sights and sounds of life by the railway .brings back sentimental memories of living on big abitibi lake at Mace. So lucky to have lived there before the rail from Cochrane to LA Sarre was removed .

Stayed there 2 times once in the winter of 1990 drove. man haul bus on a pipeline project for. Majestic. Pipeliner’s / from. Edmonton, Alberta. and the Line. started at Smooth. Rock Fall s west of Cochrane too. Kirkland Lake just. 20 or so Km’s each way, I have pictures. somewhere showing. the height of the snow they received around the town. and area. that winter, stayed in a private trailer northeast part of town then. / the second job. was the fall of 1992 stayed at the old hotel there ate at restaurant’s in town. and drove back. and forth too Hunta/ small Hydro. station ( new construction added) at the time driving a brand new. tandem. gravel truck on the jobs worked about. 2 to 3 month’s and then Layed. off , I found the town. very friendly at that time /have a good. day / Bill S. I wish I could go back to the days when the downtown looked like and thrived like it did in this video, sadly Cochrane has died

@@greekyogurt7293 yes I have multiple times with my grandkids! Cochrane is not the town it was when I grew up there, the name it had garnered was little Toronto during my late teen years and adulthood. Now there’s nothing there, no stores, no bars, no good restaurants and people don’t stay the kids never come back to build a life in Cochrane from college. Population declines yearly

@@greekyogurt7293 I am from there and yes i have seen the Polar bears but the town is really boring, and not enough stores no wonder people go to Kap or Timmins to shop
@@sullysboy at least Cochrane has low taxes. Kap’s taxes are too high.
Yes, it sucks big time and is so boring for young folks😮
I hope there is a way to bring Cochrane back to it's former glory with the memories of the Netizen who have a hand in restoration
