first bought this album on cassette in 1987 I was 14 had about 10 copies on different formats ( due to losing/overplaying ect) still one of my favorite all time albums brings back so many memories,,😊
It's really really interesting to hear how even an artist with impeccable integrity like Roger cannot escape the artistic influences of the time he made his art. Definite 80s, but love it.
+Sinan San Great album! I believe the mistake was in the production trying to appeal to the 80's pop crowd. The songs and concept are there and are very strong, but unfortunately, dated
+Brett Wilkins the funny thing about the album is that roger recotded 4 videos of the worst songs! The best 4 songs are 'powers that be' , 'home', 'who needs information' and 'me or him'. Those are awesome songs. Roger should ask Patrick Leonard to totally reproduce the album with Jeff Beck.
+DJDanceClassic I don't agree with you. Especially, The Tide Is Turning is a magnum opus. Radio Waves is also a good choice for video. The Powers That Be is difficult for a music video because there are vocals of Paul Carrack. Maybe, Who Needs Information could be instead of Sunset Strip. However, Sunset Strip is not a bad song. By the way, the video Four Minutes was not published on tv, it was prepared for Radio Kaos Ep. Moreover, Me Or Him cannot be focused while existing with The Tide Is Turning
+Travis Linton I always thought so too. It came out at the same time as Learning to Fly and both Floyd and Waters toured at the same time promoting their albums. I got to see both concerts that summer and was torn between both...hehe..so I bought both LPs.
My favorite concert. I have been listening to it since 1988 (Then I lived in the USSR. it was hard to find, at that time this concert. ) ... I know every sound and turn of tunes. This concert gives me an inexhaustible source of energy for many years. I am very grateful to you for this. I'd love to get to your concert. Come to Kiev:)🇺🇦
I still have (and wear) my 1987 Radio KAOS concert tee shirt! I waited in line all night for tickets to the Indianapolis concert at Market Square Arena. I got second row tickets! I thought it would quickly sell out. Sadly only about three thousand tickets were sold. Pink Floyd (without Roger, of course) played Indy about a month later to a sold-out Hoosier Dome. I went to that concert as well. However, the Waters concert was ten times as good!! Just awesome. I remember Roger saying this about his former band mates: “It’s my moon, my pig and my wall. It’s their dry ice!” He was correct. I have seen David Gilmour live and he’s great as well, but Roger IS and always will be Pink Floyd!
No matter how you think about it - this is a great solo album and cherished on my side for many years. Hearing it for the first time tonight in YEARS - DECADES!!!
It is the opening song of Radio Kaos. And sound of Radio Waves perfectly fits into the science-fictional story of the album. It is little different than Roger Waters' other works, but it doesn't mean that it is bad. I really like this song :)
Love this album so so much .. not just the amazing songs or the harmony`s of our beloved welsh male voice choirs but i love the story of what it really tells us , "who is the strongest who is the best ..." years later n the "powers that be" still think ones better than the other ....maybe one day i`ll get to see that the "tide is turning " thank you for a beautiful work of art .
Am right bk at 13yrs old, giggling, stoned listening to dogs barking somewhere on this album, for weeks I was out the window lookin for the dogs, something changed in me that day,but I knew drugs was wrong, but tell me don't and this kid did
One of my favourite albums of all time. Perfect for driving, chilling, walking, jogging, on shrooms 🙊 etc. Roger and Pink Floyd have so much great work, much of which feels timeless. It’s an absolute pleasure and honour to have this music to return to time and again. Thank you so much Roger, you’re passion for your art always shines through.
Interesting follow up to the most depessing Pink Floyd music. Best solo Floyd album and single along with 'The Tide is Turning'. I saw Watesr in NY with my brother. A life experince I will never forget.
All my memories just come flooding back, We were about 15-18 we'd jump in the cars, we'd drive to Brecon beacons in S waies and take a bong, munchies, good music,9/10 it would be Floyd, water's,, we'd Pop the boot open blast the music across the valleys,or just drive around scenic roads, granted we didn't care much for the scenery, but looking back, it's something I want to do once more, I'm driving up there for nostalgic reasons soon, with this blasting and a spliff ready rolled for when I park up 😂✌️
I've heard his latest album anything he has done is no where near Radio kaos and Pros n Cons but still amused to death and Is this the life u really want are still great works on their own. Long Live Rodger Waters ✌
September 17, 1987. Phoenix, Arizona. The Veteran's Memorial Coliseum. I was 18 years old. This concert would not be eclipsed until I saw the band Heliung on September 29, 2022. That's a damn long time to be at number one.
I think they're the same singers on his solo masterpiece- Amused to Death. The KAOS concert was great and one of the singers, Katie Kasoon (sp?) sang a lovely and emotive duet that wasn;t on the album. BTW, the blonde was a knockout.
Thank you Mr. Jim Ladd for turning us onto so much great music over your esteemed Los Angeles radio career. You are definitely missed on the airwaves of KLOS 95.5. R.I.P. Jim.
There are some good synths on that album. When I heard this song for the first time, I was like "Roger Waters goes synth-pop and new wave?" Great! I mean that could've been easy a song by The Cars or Psychedelic Furs, don't you think? :)
Saw this tour as a teen in san diego with some pink floyd fanatic high school friends. we were mashed right up against the plywood in front of the stage, so close to RW during another brick I could see drops of sweat falling off his face. Even if his solo career wasnt as in demand at the time, for us it meant getting to enjoy this iconic artist and music up close. Very cool memory.
A timeless work of genius - lyrically, musically, and production-wise. I've listened to it dozens of times, and each time is like the first. Roger, stop incuring everyone's wrath, and please get back to work.
One of the few rock albums in which every song is great. I was a HUGE Floyd fan back in the 80's and this is way better than the Gilmour led Floyd..not even close!
Just Imagine if "Radio KAOS" was combined with "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" about the corporate greed and political hypocrisy of the 1980's. That would be a great Floyd album. That being said it is not my intent to start a war with solo Waters' fans (which I am one of you), I am also a fan of the Gilmour run Floyd (as well as the Barrett run Floyd). I am a fan of Radio KAOS as is (along with AMLOR), It's my favorite Solo Waters album
I caught this tour in Indianapolis. Only 3,000 in attendance at an 18,000 seat venue. It was an incredible concert. Several months later, the David Gilmour led Pink Floyd played a sold out show at the 60,000 seat Hoosier Dome. It was also an incredible concert. I was lucky enough as a 12 year old to catch the Pink Floyd In the Flesh (Animals) tour in 1977 at Tampa Stadium. Surprisingly, it was the best show of the three.
I don't care even if Roger himself thinks the album is bad. Radio K.A.O.S. is some of his best solo work! I love the album!
I couldn't agree more! This is solo he did everything you here, he is phenomenal!
This album is better then Amused to Death
I think the problems was it needed more tracks to connect the story, and Billy's synth is way too hard to understand
Sorry but nope, Amuse to Death is on the Wall level, far too far away, but despite of, I like Radio Waves a lot
first bought this album on cassette in 1987 I was 14 had about 10 copies on different formats ( due to losing/overplaying ect) still one of my favorite all time albums brings back so many memories,,😊
Waters is a brilliant, amazing, heartfelt artist. He is a treasure. All of his albums rock.Thank you Roger~☆♡

BRILLIANT COMMENT ❤
It's really really interesting to hear how even an artist with impeccable integrity like Roger cannot escape the artistic influences of the time he made his art. Definite 80s, but love it.
I mean it’s supposed to sound just like any other song you would hear on the radio at the time that’s kind of the whole point of it
If you actually get Roger Waters you will love this album, it's pure genius in my books.
the rest were pink floyd
I honestly think this song and the album it's on are really underrated.
Yes, they are absolutely underrated :(

Stands up as strong today as it did on its release, Roger is always on the button & the right side of history ❤
this song is so underrated, i heard it on my grandads record player and now i’m in love
This album has been in my life for like 30 years or whatever, but when Roger sings "Jesus saves" I still wanna cry lol

I saw this live when they played it at their concert and was absolutely blown away❤ 2024!
Loved this album since i was 15! Thank you Roger for being unique!
Saw him perform solo in the late 80's when in my mid twenties was an AMAZING time!
@Joyce Brackbill wowzers, bet you treasure the memories!
My favorite Socialist. I love Roger Waters.
Just heard the news of Jim Ladd passing on Dec 17 2023.Thank You for being my friend JIM You will be missed
Makes me wish Waters spent more time in the studio bringing us new music.
The genius that is Rodger Waters. One of my all time favorite albums.
Saw him live at the Oakland arena in 1987 immediately right after buying Radio Waves at the Warehouse record store.
I dedicate this to Art Bell. You'll always live on, in them Radio Waves.
Under the Rockies, you're on the air

RIP Legendary Jim Ladd.
I've been a Pink Floyd fan for 46 years and of all the albums that the various members produced as a group and/or solo this is hand down my favorite
One of The Most Underated
Albums !
Waters is a Musician Artist!!! Jim Ladd Rocks
95.5 KLOS

It was an outrage when they fired Ladd. He wasn't cookie cutter enough for the new corporate owners.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Ladd. Love and Mercy
A great album!

Amazing song when album came out, still a amazing song all these years later
This entire album is brilliant!!
Although this may not be Water's best album, but as far as 80's new wave goes, this is as good as it gets.
Great album, I've always been a floyd fan, one of his backing singers on this album was a friend back in the day, suzanne was her name, good times
I think they're the same singers on his solo masterpiece- Amused to Death. The KAOS concert was great and one of the singers, Katie Kasoon (sp?) sang a lovely and emotive duet that wasn;t on the album. BTW, the blonde was a knockout.

roger waters: genius
Só não foi genio quando falou de politica no Brasil. Apoiando a esquerda Lula. Ladrão
Him, David Gilmour, and Syd Barret are great performers! They’re so good I cannot name anyone who could top them! Lol!
Approaching 50, Spotify tells me I’ve listened to this album more than any other. It’s like an old friend. Love it. Thank you RW.
Great Concert!!!!! Cleveland, Ohio,Blossom... Thank's Roger and Everyone...

I remember playing this in my College Radio program when it first came out!
What was the reaction about this song in the college? I mean, did people notice that song coming from a Pink Floyd member in general? ;)

This album is an interesting one it felt I was actually listening to the radio with every song til the end of the record
One of the few rock albums in which every song is great. I was a HUGE Floyd fan back in the 80's and this is way better than the Gilmour led Floyd..not even close!
