The idea of Marines shipping Warthogs home in pieces is iconic lol
GIs did this with CJs back in WW2, and it was a running gag in M*A*S*H* (Radar was sending one home in the same manner), so no surprise it would be mentioned here!
Send pieces of Warthogs back to Earth, and send pieces of Grunts back to High Charity!

â@@genericchannelname4110yeah..... let's not do that second part, they already have plenty of grunt zombies and getting shot by an overgrown zombie turtle with a fuel rod Canon is no fun.
Remember folks, the Warthog is an all terrain vehicle. If it can't get there under its own power, the proper application of grenades and punching it will get it there, and if can't .... then its not terrain.

Shit. I still wish the AMG Uberchassis was a real car.
While many vehicles in _Halo_ are powerful, the M12 does indeed represent many of Humanities best traits:
Resilience, Endurance, Adaptability, Creativity, and more beyond that.
Bounciness
Stubbornness?
And perhaps in the future, figuring out how stuff works, so that we can have an M12C with a fusion plant (Master Chief's armor has one, surely they can fit one in the chassis too), and maybe add some deployable "arms" that have those wall-shields you often see on the ground (or perhaps similar to the ones the jackles like to use, as either one is a pretty compact defensive technology) to allow the vehicle to provide an effective mobile defensive wall it can drive around with. Maybe even mount a pair of plasma-sword "tusks" at the front for ramming stuff, make it REALLY live up to the animal it is named after.
Determination.
Old, but not obsolete.
Warthog is literallly one of the greatest vehicles in sci fi

Mine too. Just like every significant figure, location, war or period of time, every weapon, vehicle, ship, building and other constructs holds just as much or maybe even more of a story than people could ever experience in a lifetime.
"Looks like them Spartan boys are at it again..."
Jesus Christ, that last words: "Ultimately, The most HUMAN". That gave the chill. Truly the greatest light vehicle in the modern Sci-Fi.

You know its impressive when the Elites, DURING THE WAR, want functional warhogs as trophies.
Fun fact, light vehicles like the revanent where covenant attempts to recreate/counter the warthog.
Well not true. Its never statet that the Revenant or other vehicles were recreations of the Warthog. The Revenant is based opon an older Sangheili Design, the same with the Spectre. Inventing new stuff was not the strong side of the Covernant and creating something that is close to a human invention would be heresy. Unless you are a brute.
I'm sure they just found it would be useful to drive around their friends back in sangheilios whilst drinking whatever it is Elites drink
*an Elite returns from Earth after the end of the conflict. His wife and children who havenât seen him in years are waiting for him at the spaceport.*

âMommy whatâs that under the ship?â
âI donât know child, but it must be a war trophy for one of our soldiers. I just hope itâs not your fatherâsâ
*on final approach to the landing pad, the Phantom drops the mystery cargo about 5 feet from the ground in a clearing close by before finally touching down on the pad. As the door opens up, one Elite immediate jumps out and runs to dropped package in a panic, shouting angrily at the inattentive pilot. He jumps in, activating it, and upon seeing it still functional, relaxes a bit and starts driving to the gate at a frightful speed. All the awaiting people pull back a second, uncertain if this thing wonât just plow right through them. Just when a few start to run, it turns hard, smoke coming from its wheels and stops right in front of the awaiting mother and child.*

Meanwhile some of the old and young warriors in the crowd begin to gather around and inspect the vehicle. After much poking and prodding, a loud cough can be heard from behind them. In the confusion, a human in a sharp outdoors jacket and jeans managed to disembark from the Phantom unnoticed.

Templin comes in and gives us swooping, dramatic lore cake.
Can't think of a better combination!
So a futuristic Toyota technical...
I love it!
Without the Warthog, the Master Chief would not survive the first Halo.
So yes, they indeed play their part in saving all life in the galaxy.
perfect example of "dont change a working system"!
what is there not to like? an all terrain jeep, that can refuel itself when parked & is sturdy enough to be dropped from a plane!
one of the few vehicles in scifi, we should really concider to adapt for real world use!
It's hilarious that the backbone of the UNSC is friggin technical. Fighting space catholics in a Toyota
They have Armored variants like X-24.
Yeah, its basically a scouting vehicle. We still haven't seen what the UNSC APC equivalent looks like.
at least they start with a vehicle that spacedock hasnt covered yet
Installation 00 did a video about the Warthog
Dude, chill, this content is not unique to spacedock. Also the approach of mixing history and specifications is uniquely Templin.
As the other guy said - Spacedock focuses on the technical aspects and combat history of vehicles, Templin focuses on the societal history and impact of them. It's a complimentary balance.
And Installation 00 does in depth lore videos on halo vehicles and weapons. Holy Trinity
@@TempestCrown and then Installation00 does what spacedock tries to do better so long as you are into the science. Check out his Pelican video its next level.
Apparently this thing can survive atmosphere re-entry đđŸ Bless what humanity can achieve when come together & fight dirty xenos aliens đđ
That was the part of the design they spent centuries improving on.
Legend has a it, that once a bunch of marines, stranded on a crashing UNSC spaceship, straped themselves into a 'Hog and drove out the hangar bay. Both the marines and the 'Hog survived the impact. ^^
The Warthog definitely deserves a video all its own. Not only is it reliable and ingenius in its simplicity, it's just plain cool as well as fun to drive.
I canât even imagine not riding into battle in HALO without the warthog
Best. Fictional vehicle. Ever. Of all time
Not my fault, somebody put a brute in my way.
The best if not one of the best ATV units in sci-fi!
Ah yes, the B-52 of ground vehicles
More like a C-130 Hercules.
Probably closer to the DC3 if anything
Watching this video reminded me of a Bill Mauldin WWII cartoon. It showed a broken down Willys Jeep and a soldier putting his pistol to the hood while covering his eyes, similar to a cavalryman having to shoot his horse. The jeep even had a cavalry unit's name on it. My point is the M12 Warthog was to the UNSC what the Willys Jeep was to WWII American military personnel
Hey, itâs the Chupathingy!
I think it is more of a Puma.
What the hell is a puma?
No no, guys. It has tusks on the front of it. So that would make it walrus!
@@gokbay3057 you mean like the shoe?
They forgot the most important part of the Warthog
Itâs ability to play polka music into battle and instill fear into the hearts of its enemies with the other ability of slow motion car crashing
WHAT THE HELL IS THAT MUSIC??
Always loved the Puma.
Over 200 years of use and they never thought of adding optics, proper fire control systems or... Doors...
even covenant got inspired and built a revenant so yeah
All of those exist in canon variants. Tbe in game model has several gameplay variations for balance and engine work. Basically if you can put it on a Hog, someone has, be it AMG, the UNSC, civilians or private contractors. Hell the Innies made one into an APC
Realistically speaking, the Warthog is a horrible design by modern standards.
But so is the Imperial Star Destroyer, the Leman Russ, and Scorpion MBT. Iconic ships and vehicles in fiction tend to fall into this category way more often than not. And that's fine with us
@@alexfrost2799 The only thing from warthog that will probably become real would be the hydrogen engines and it's suspension system too. Otherwise it's a good vehicle to have on road ;)

I thought it was a walrus
This isn't just a vehicle...it's been our friend...a hard working horse...and most imprtantly...our mate
I always thought that the UNSC could have developed a similar vehicle that provided a little more protection to the crew.
They did. They have full APCs and up armored warthogs in their arsenal
While more protection would be good, it also would hamper some of the warthogs qualities. The absence of doors makes mounting and dismounting faster and the same could be said for cargo storage. Also with the lack of doors, the passenger can fire any weapon that they can carry in the UNSC arsenal. Be that an assault rifle, a shotgun, or a rocket launcher. While the gunner is only protected by a thin plate of Titanium-A, the exposed gunner seat provides unrivaled situational awareness. Useful for urban patrols and anti-aircraft duties.
Razorback go brrrr
It's probably loosely modeled on OG HMMWVs not being for frontline combat use but found there way into that role regardless
I'm so glad I found this channel. I just can't get enough of your content! Really hits me in my nerd spot.
Favorite light vehicle and it comes out on my birthday nice
Come on Spartan. Go, Go GO!
6:10 Iâll never understand why 343 thought that adding jerrycans to the back makes any sense, since itâs fuelled by hydrogen.
jerry cans full of uhhhh hydrogen!!
They probably have water, the Warthog can use Hidrogen and water as fuel.
Donât know why itâs called a warthog. Looks more like a puma to me.

Man, that set of humans really loves that jeep. And you know what? So do I. (Compliments for writing an essay about a car that makes it sound so incredibly meaningful. Y'all have gotten really good at this.)
There's something about how it looks that does make it look like it's very realistic and would perform excellently, I'm not sure what.

as a lifelong halo fan, the m12 is my fav
I love the term "Force Application Vehicle", it just reeks of "we really want to be authoritarian wackjobs but we don't want to be called authoritarian wackjobs."
One could almost say a slightly politically correct imperium of man or even early who knows ?
"Enhanced interrogation"
"Force Application vehicle" is an Euphemism on par with "final solution"
I strongly disagree. The AMG Transport Dynamics M12 Force Application Vehicle Is not ment for authoritarian means, merely for troopers to transport themselves and powerful weaponry.

Why was I expecting Mark with a comically overexaggerated drill sergeant voice to be narrating this?
I like to think that the concept of a spirit in the Machine is a real concept, sometimes, Machines just keep going, when they have no right to do so. but they do.
When Steven said 'Jack-Of-All-Trades' I was pretty sure he was going to say Jackal, which is used in the same role by coalition forces.
My favorite Warthog variants are the Troop transport and the Gauss cannon Warthog.
