Yeah he obviously saw him that call wasn’t great, but buddy was so very clearly out of it there is no way in hell he processed he was hitting a ref. I think he just saw the white and thought it was a Preds jersey in the split second, given the head trauma he had just received. Not that that hit would have been okay no matter who it was, he definitely deserved a suspension and I’m in shock they didn’t call a penalty at the time. That linesman has long lasting injuries from that, IMO the biggest fail was that he was let back in the game afterwards as if he was fine. Either he was fine and brutally attacked an official or he was woozy, either way he shouldn’t have been playing. I get in the moment thinking maybe it was just an accident but they could see the replay and realize that.
D'Amico was strong as an ox. I played a pick-up hockey game against him and other NHL officials as a budding young teenager and Man were they all strong and in great shape.

Contact with an official has been an automatic ejection in pretty much every sport, though in baseball it's often _after_ the actual ejection when the contact happens
Exceopt soccer, there the refs are like nobody. Not enforcing any of the rules for violations ahainst them. Seems just they like being grabbed and yelled at
Referees: do not "see" obvious violations, thereby provoking violence and injury of the players. Also referees: if you grab my hand you will get 5 match suspension
The announcers on that last one were very generous in saying he doesnt even see the linesman when he aggressively crosschecks him from behind. Probably dazed and thought it was another player but still a dirty hit regardless who it was.

7:10,,, Yeah, too funny,,,he doesn't see the linesman.
How did Kane get suspended for that? They say the players can't touch the refs but the refs can touch the players? The linesman tackled Kane, and he doesn't know what the linesman might do next so Kane should have the right to protect himself. Just saying. Don't attack someone and expect them to not do anything about it. Most of these are nonsense because the officials are the ones initiating the contact. 3:35 "he just shoved the official" I guess they didn't see the official shove him first. 😂
Tell me you dont know anything about officiating without saying you dont know anything about officiating... and also the answer to "the refs can touch players but players cant touch refs" is yes, correct. It has and always will be that way
@@sizzlepopbacon7406So a ref can tackle a player without any repercussions. That is just people abusing there power. Tell me you are a bitch without telling me you are a bitch. 🤡

the fact that refs are just treated like cops who you can never back talk or disrespect makes me care a lot less about them getting hurt. If you play the "I get to decide how the game goes" game and you have an advantage that no one else in the rink gets just because of your position, you don't get to cry spilled milk when you get hurt. That's just the name of the game. That's why goalies GET to be untouchable on the ice. They're actually putting skin in the game. I don't care for cops and them being mad that people don't listen to them the first time they "give an order".
You clearly don't know that much about hockey, hockey refs get a load of crap from players this video has simply nit picked the examples of when players have shoved/pushed/touched them which is not okay in any sport. Get your head out of the sand, refs get decide how the game goes because it's their job, not became they are control freaks. One more thing, your claim that they aren't putting anything on the line is simply false, they wear very little protective padding and often get injured all so they can work a job and get not praise or recognition, especially from fools like you.

the answer is that Wideman was a complete scum player and while I dont think he was planning on hitting the linesmen, he did nothing to avoid him and instead of skating around the person that was facing the other way he just decided to skate through him and give him a nice cross check too... so tldr, with Wideman's history I wouldn't trust the "i didn't see him" excuse...

Accidental contact with officials is assessed a game misconduct in comparison to a match penalty if it is intentional.
